    Usually canting comes as a result of lack of horizontal growth and forward growth. therefore you will have canting in addition to elongation of the face as well as narrow jaws. Correcting this requires correcting all three.
    It's really about addressing that this is a result of improper growth and not genetic. If your face is crooked you just need to address the cause, narrowing of the jaws, horizontal growth, and lack of forward growth.
    Width can be achieved using MSE for maxilla and MSDO for the mandible then CCW MMA surgery which also adds canting correction.

      Is invasive surgery really the only viable option here, especially if it’s not severe? I’d imagine deliberately changing your tongue positioning and chewing habits would for instance provide beneficial results.

      @@Goofballhero that's a great question- it sounds like you are talking about "mewing"- I don't know that much about this and I am not a jaw surgeon so you'll probably want to defer that question who knows more

    The thing with corrective jaw surgery to an occlusal cant is that by "correcting" the tilt you create other asymmetries. So it takes more than a jaw surgeon to leave a satisfying and normal result. Preferably the jaw surgeon should also be an implantologist.

    I got a hyrax expander put in my mouth at 16/17 (10 years ago) and it mainly caused dental movement. Like I can still feel the roots of some of my back teeth a bit. It also caused my maxilla to have what I’d call is like a lampshade affect. It like drapes down dramatically. Also unlucky for me, it moved the left side of my maxilla causing asymmetry in not only my smile but my lip placement. I want to get this fixed but I don’t even know how to. What could be done besides shaving it down?

    How do you deal with cants created during treatment? For example, as a result of asymmetric elastics or diagonal anterior elastics to correct midline shifts.

    • @Straightsmilesolutions
      @Straightsmilesolutions  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      By cants, I am assuming you are talking about iatrogenic DENTAL cants with a premature contact? Probably just more elastics in a different spot to settle the bite or RCS/ ACS wires or step bends

    you can shift the midline, expand palate, and shift teeth to the canted side. its the elastics that was improperly placed.

    I am 15 and my jaw looks pretty much the same as the model. I have trouble chewing on the right side of my jaw, and im not sure if my jaw would grow more and become more assymetrical as time goes on. Will braces such as Invisalign fix this or should I get a jaw surgery. I think the reason why I have this assymetry was because I neglected to wear Invisalign fully and my teeth shifted drastically

    • @Straightsmilesolutions
      @Straightsmilesolutions  ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends if you are male or female and still growing or not. If female, it's probably surgery if male you might still have a chance to modify things if your feet are still growing and you aren't really shaving yet. Go see an ortho regardless please
