Useful video to get some insights to help to make the proper choices, thank you!
We are moving to QuTS Hero so any such "Best Practices" are very welcome.
I do hope that next time the recordings can be done in 1080p so the screens are a bit more eligible please.

Say you have a 12 bay unit and use 8 disks in one raid group for multiple shared folders. Then say you add 4 extra drives. What are the advantages and disadvantages in: (1) creating a separate raid group in the existing storage pool and (2) creating a second storage pool and creating a raid group for the 4 drives in the second pool? Thank you

ZFS deduplication is really bad if not pathetic compared to Windows Server NTFS. I have 9TB of data deduplicated on Windows to 6TB and only to 8.5TB on ZFS. Is there anything to tune ZFS to provide usable deduplication?
    Great and useful video, BTW.

On your windows server, are you doing inline deduplication or offline deduplication? ZFS deduplication will not be good for video files and in most use cases except for VM images, the savings likely won't be much.
What kind of data are you trying to deduplicate?

@@danielfrancis-lyon8735 It's user files saved in multiple copies all over subfolders. easy to deduplicate but not for ZFS.

I can’t believe this guy doesn’t understand how RAID 6 works: it’s not ten data drives and two parity drives, it’s two parity blocks across all twelve drives. Come on man!

      Hi, Mitchell.
Sorry for the confusion. We understand that the parity blocks are spread across all of the drives, however when explaining RAID for simplicity and clarity for practical purposes we may describe it in the manner which we have in this video.
