While I prefer the geometry of the S1 and it has always done what I’ve asked it to do...the content chipping of the edge made me buy the 3v SRK. Much happier with the 3v steel as to maintenance...convexing the edge helped but I still prefer the S1. Would like to try Falkniven’s COS steel if the price ever becomes reasonable. Looking forward to the Bark River Boone II in 3v with upper guard removed as a replacement.
I totally agree with your valuation.. I want to do another video about the cold steel srk, talking about pros and cons, but I will probably change it for a bark river aurora in my case. Cpm3v is definitely one of my favorite steel since the old ferhmam, great USA blades.
Right on... also have a Aurora and Aurora 2 which is my current favorite. My Aurora is a full height grind and ground to thin for me. Closest thing I have to that Falknevin geometry are the Bark River Bravo’s. Bark River once collaborated with Falkniven and made the S1. Been looking for one for some time...I see Falkniven has some new versions of the S1out now...I just grit my teeth at those prices...lol
@@dlrmon1 today i've see a test run of the new s1x in elmax, convex. It's just a test run, is not in production jet, but with two micarta scales on the handle (instead of rubber) wil probably be a good knife.
Already play in the handle after only that much use? Definitely not for me then. I think Cold Steel is a lot over rated. Fallknivens are workhorses. Thanks for the test.
I've had the Taiwan made CPM3v SRK since it came out. I've used it and abused it and it's still in great shape. The only thing that stinks is the sheath. My handle never came loose.
Cold Steel SRK for me. Better bang for buck. And in America the SRK is WAY cheaper than what they are selling for in Italy or EU. I personally feel Fallkniven is no way worth the prices they are selling for. Fallkniven in my opinion are now for the financially privileged becasue there are WAY better and cheaper knives and knife brands than Fallkniven. Hell a Mora is way better then a Fallkniven. I can get (and I own) production versions for Fiddleback forge knives that are better than Fallkniven.
Thanks for your opinion... here unfortunatly is too expensive in cpm3v. Fallkniven also are too expensive, for sure, but this one is just a regular S1, i've bought from a collector, saving 50 euro, brand new, mainly because i like the design and the convex grind. It was a good deal, otherwise i would'nt have buy, expecially from a store. You can use those money better, in other brand, like bark river or trc. Mora are great, for the money; but they are not convex. Fiddleblack forge are awesome knives.
Bias review or you got a bad cold steel one docents of reviews . Fallkniven overpriced great knife that probably will not use is I buy it (I’m not rich) . I have the srk sk5 and for the price is good enough to trust it as main and only knife. Just remember our grandpa’s did amazing with what they have. I still have a knife from my grandpa with no markings of a unknown steel that it sharps fast and is strong but with some flex, a friend say is made of a truck spring slate. My real life $ set up: CS sr1 lite, Glock knife or CS SRK, a mora knife and a tramontina machete.
I will survive as long as you do in wilderness with my $40 D2 blade made in pakistan so whats the fuse about spending HUGE amount of money only for having harder time to sharpen ? ...in fact i migh end surviving much more longuer than you simply because i will be able to sharpen my blade on the field ....not you...
Wait what are you talking about?? Survive? Who talked about surviving? With a D2 made in Pakistan? Ahahahah!!! good luck with that piece of trash my friend. By the way in the remote scenario of survival, I'll definitely use a big blade, in carbon steel.
Probably stated somewhere in the comments, but the A1 is the comparable knife to the SRK.

I have not had the privilege of a ferhmam knife...I’ve only been on this blade quest for about 5 years now...I’m a bit behind you...lol

You could try heating the handle to shrink it?

You are welcome!!

Do Cold Steel Kraton handles hydrolyze?
No they dont
Is this San mai steel for srk?
No that's the cpm3v version
Great video thanks. Maybe you can have glue injected in to the handle of the cold steel so the handle does not move.

@@zoroutdoor9 Thank you for your reply!
Would you like me to make a video and prove you're ignorance to be wrong?
Don't talk shit about something you know nothing about and or can't afford.
Cool Video 👍
Thank U for the testing 👍
srk is a bit heavier, has a longer blade and it is balanced more toward the tip, no wonder it is better at chopping.
I think I would contact Cold Steel and see what they say about the loose handle.
cold steel is definitelly NOT the miracle company you know....
SRK stone washed made in Italy ?
Yes, the cpm3v version, stone washed is made in Italy, probably in Maniago by one of the big italian knife company
So you mean cold steel is good for cutting and everything else is better for Polkniven.

I'd rather sharpen 3v than d2 honestly I hate d2.
Don't know if you're trying to get attention with the camera, but I had to click off.
srk the best
buy a good video camera.
