That bass tone is so nice god damn. I hope the fact the other members do crazy shredding that is doesn't put off Clay from making these videos as it's so sick hearing the groove and the bass tone nice and clear and clean.

Not a musician but I’ve always marveled at the hidden and silent drive beat that defines Polyphias music and hearing you play that isolated track made me realize that it’s the holes that you are creating that makes it stand out so clearly to me. Clay is phenomenal and unique! You also need to check out Henrik Linder from Dirty Loops. Different style, but arguably one of the top bassists on the planet right now.
the most interesting parts are when he's not playing, and I don't mean that as a joke or anything lol. but lot of subtle/outright dank embellishments when the song calls for it too. that kind of composition is what you get from legit bassists. same applies for drum parts too. you can get away with programming both of those in MIDI these days, but the guys that actually live and breathe those instruments have a super well-developed ear for writing these parts and how to best serve the song. edit: also just realized that's an Alluvial shirt lol lfg🤘
