Your geology is spot on, sir! Fun fact: As you pass through Cascade Locks the Bridge of the Gods connects Cascade Locks with Stevenson, WA, part of which sits on a giant landslide that collapsed one whole side of Table Mtn and dammed the Columbia R. about 600 years ago. Once the backed-up river filled over the top of the earthen dam and eroded a path through it, that became one of the narrowest passages along the length of the Columbia River -- upon which sits the Cascade locks and dam and over which the Bridge of the Gods spans.
Even present day people driving through this landscape will be mesmerized by the grandeur of Columbia River Gorge and its surrounding landscape. It's very fascinating to imagine how much Lewis and Clark together with their team would feel once their boats entered this area. . They must have got their minds blown totally and such feelings must have lasted in them for the rest of their lives. Interesting. . Thank Kyle for a very amazing video as always!
The Gorge starts east of Arlington but it is not so dramatic there. I have driving this interstate hundreds of times and it still is fascinating. I see something new and exciting every time.
It actually IS is lake. The series of dams along the river through the Columbia Gorge (Bonneville, The Dalles, John Day) impound the river, raising the water levels and forming a series of lakes between each of the dams. There are actually locations where there used to be rapids along the river (e.g. The Dalles), but they got submerged when the dams were built and the water level rose substantially.
What a pretty drive that was! I especially liked seeing the whitecaps on the river, just like on the Mississippi in New Orleans. Must have been a windy day.
I was in Chattanooga a few years back 2007 checking out te battlefields. I have been thinking of checking this area out. Is this where the wagon trains went through? I am from the Washington, DC area of Northern Virginia.
The Chattanooga area is beautiful but doesn't hold a candle to the Columbia River Gorge drive. interstate 84 across Oregon should be on everyone's bucket list.
You were right Kyle, it DOES look very Okanagan Valleyish. It's Un-canny. 😀 I wonder, is that Vancouver near Portland named after the same "George Vancouver" that Vancouver, BC is named after?
ahh yes, and I remember from one of your other recent videos that area has a strong history with the Hudson's Bay Company too, so that all makes sense. Terrific video!
I enjoy driving on I-84. I love how the Dalles separates the forest from the desert. The forest is my favorite part of I-84. It’s a beautiful forest.
Best road in Oregon...my fave
Someday ,someway , somehow. My dream. I will not give up. I have to believe.
such a cool video!!
You had me at the music!
Happy travels 💝♾️💝

That is an unbelievably LARGE river! Looks almost like a giant lake!
The Columbia River is the largest river that empties into the Pacific Ocean from North America!

Excellent video congrats!!
Wow, do I miss this area. So sad to hear about the forest fires.

Trans Canada Phil it is named after him! The USA Vancouver actually came first :)

Beautiful!
Reminds me of playing NEED FOR SPEED
Amazing!. What is the music?
You and I
Just like being there, I love it, beautiful
Love this drive. However the gorge was formed because of the Missoula floods not rising mountains
What came first, the chicken or the egg? Think about it!
The answer is both, boss man.
