2:52 this is something so many people ignore when they say Jet never changed. For someone who put so much of his life into fighting the Fire Nation, that must have taken a huge change of mindset.
And your point around 4:40 is absolutely spot-on. After all, the moment Katara spotted Zuko and Iroh in the Jasmine Dragon, what did she do? Ran to inform what she believed to be the Kyoshi warriors, who she knew would believe her, much like Jet's aim was to catch the attention of the guards or police (people who he believed could be trusted to handle the situation), and goad Zuko into firebending to prove his point correct.

I’m watching this video right after your Ekko/Jinx video and I gotta say, your analysis in both videos really hits the nail on the head! I’m excited to see what shows you talk about next!

I've watched this more than three times. Jet made a horrible mistake, but that doesn't mean he didn't spend half his life in a world where bloodshed and death was normal. It doesn't take away he had no one to turn to for guidance, and that in the end he tried to change.

It was just poor lazy shit writing to just kill Jet off like that, there was so much more they could have done with his character and it pissed me off even more when they brought back pipsqueak and the Duke in season 3 but without the rest of the gang and Katara, Sokka, and Toph don’t mention to them about what happened to Jet they don’t even talk about it ever again like Jet never existed and they just left smeller Bee and LongShot behind and never looked back on their characters. Imagine having Jet and the freedom fighters on the Day a Black Sun and Sozins Comet hell they would been real useful against Combustion Man. I can see LongShot finding out a way to counter his attacks and probably do what sokka did but faster. Bottom line Avatar writers handled Jets character poorly with horrible writing I wouldn’t mind if the Netflix Version retcons that.

Finally, some sanity with respect to the most realistic character in the series.

I have seen a lot of people saying Azula and Zuko are the most tragic characters due to childhood, but in my opinion Jet's story is much much more heart breaking. Jet was a regular kid until his village got attacked, and his family killed. He has a good heart and cares for his gang. His hatred is understandable. Any one of us if we lose everything likely be like Jet. At the end Jet perished at the hands of his own nation, and even in death sadly he is subject of mockery as shown in Ember Island Players. I wonder how many Jets are out there in Avatar world due to hundred year war?
For Zuko in spite of everything that has happened to him at the end he had Iroh who loved him and cared for him deeply, and he has friends who support him, and also found his mother in the comics. Azula also in spite of everything does have people who love her. In the comics it is shown that Zuko wants to help Azula, Ursa wants to reach out to her estranged daughter. Azula has a chance, since her story is not yet finished properly, and the there are stil so many years before Korra from the last we see her canonically speaking.
For Jet he has no chance to change anymore, and had truly no one to guide him, and he did not deserve this. After loss of his village and family he was left all alone, and had to rebuild himself.
