    Great video ! Gave me a lot of ideas of things I was lacking in my bugout bag such as a cleaning rod and oil and Benadryl. One thing I would recommend is hot hand warmers . They can be useful for keeping warm when you don’t want to start a fire and they can last several hours . They can also be used to help sore feet after hiking

      Also you might want to get a mess kit for just simple cooking and just luxury . They are pretty compact and not that expensive

      I do have hand warmers, I may throw a few in. If I ran out of MREs and Freeze Dried meals, I would throw in a mess kit, according to what I had to cook/make. but im trying to keep it as light as possible. Thanks for the ideas 😀

    I have a 3 day assault pack, same design, Molle is different. You're absolutely right, they're not as forgiving as the traditionally shaped backpacks, you have to pack them absolutely correctly everytime or you will have a sore back by the end of the day. Fantastic for lots of rectangular/square things, regular camping gear, not so much. This isn't the pack for hiking in the mountains.

    • @poortac5568
      @poortac5568  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely, how you pack your back is extremely important. Having it pull to one side or having weight pulling on your shoulders uneven will make wearing it super uncomfortable. Thanks for the info and for watching 😎

    You are correct about the Suspension NXT. I prefer Leatherman but got an NXT through a subscription box. I didn't carry it or use it much, tossed it in a drawer. Fast forward 4 months and I had used it all of 3 times. Went to go open it a 4th time, the retention tab on the left side just snapped off. This is part of the body of the tool, the handle pieces are all one solid piece of steel and the tabs at the end provide friction against the joints to keep it open or closed when used as pliers. It snapped right off just opening it so the left side swings loose and you can't use the tool anymore. Fourth time opening.... Sure, they sent me a new one after I sent them pictures of mine, but that's not going to help you in the woods if it happens to yours.

    • @poortac5568
      @poortac5568  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      agreed! the standard Suspension is better. Leather beats them all. At least they replaced yours. Thanks for watching 😀

    I have this same backpack and I agree, the overall quality us right up there with some of the big names. The only thing I don't like about it is that (laser cut) "MOLLE" webbing. It gives a great pack an inferior attachment system. It frays much quicker than regular MOLLE webbing and I just don't have much confidence in it. Aside from that, this pack is well thought out.

    • @poortac5568
      @poortac5568  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, the laser cut is lighter weight, but feels more fragile. I prefer it only when I don’t plan on using the molle all the time. It snags less too, but other than that, standard molle is superior. Thanks for watching 😀

      @@poortac5568 My pleasure. By the way, since the kidney straps have real MOLLE webbing, I threw 4 mag pouches there as well as a pistol holster. If I'm bringing mags, I want to be able to get to them. Just my two cents.

    • @poortac5568
      @poortac5568  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thriftysurvivor6117 I use a war belt, so I have to keep the kidney straps slick or there would be interference. But that would be a good place for spare mags. Easy access, good idea! 🇺🇸

    • @thriftysurvivor6117
      @thriftysurvivor6117 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@poortac5568 Yes, I guess those mag pouches would get in the way of war or battler belt. The most I might use one for would be to hang a drop leg IFAK pouch or something from. The mag pouches wouldn't get in the way of that. I currently have an IFAK attached to the back of the pack, but I feel it would make more sense to use the drop leg IFAK so I could also get to it. I only have the IFAK on the back in case I forget to grab the drop leg when I gear up before heading out the door. That's just the way I run, but I do understand your reasoning for keeping the kidney straps slick.

    • @poortac5568
      @poortac5568  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are too big to use as an everyday style bag. I think they are just right as an emergency bag. I had just enough space for what I need, with a little extra room for food.

    • @poortac5568
      @poortac5568  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you discuss the durability of this bag? I would like to purchase it, but want to make sure it will hold up to rugged wear and tear in the woods.

    • @poortac5568
      @poortac5568  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont buy $300 bags, so I cant compare to super high end, but the bag is very durable imo. 2-3x more rugged than the $50 amazon “tactical” backpacks Ive used. My gear weighs 30-35 pounds and the pack hasn’t ripped or shown any wear and the pack doesnt “strain” under the weight. My amazon backpack that I used when traveling europe was good for clothes and normal stuff, but it would rip when carrying more than 15-20 pounds worth. Id say this backpack would be really good for hiking. The only negative is the laser cut molle, which is not as tough as regular molle. but it is more snag free. This would be my first choice in a sub $100 backpack for hiking. You will be impressed with the quality, I was.
