    I just installed these for my son's 2.0 and they are great quality, easy to install. Two things I would like to see added for the price of this product is a longer spring and the tool to remove the screws.

    I tried to post a review for this product on their website, but it did not let me. I also noticed nothing on their website has a review, so it must be a glitch in their system. I am posting it here so the company and everyone buying can see my experience:
    I don't say any of this to bash this company or product, in fact it is just the opposite. I love this product and company and have recommended it / them to several friends and coworkers. I do, however, think several improvements can be made.
    First and foremost, watch the install video. This will make your install much simpler (filing down your feeders is a must, but you don't need much).
    Here are the main problems I had. First, it is sold as a 9mm +6 extension. In reality, yes you can fit 23 in the magazine. However, with the slide forward, you would have to use a hammer to get a 23 round magazine to lock into the gun (23+1 was impossible for me). With the slide locked to the rear, it seats with no problem. This just is not practical for a duty carry magazine though. To solve this, I just went to +5 (22). It still fit snug with the slide forward, but with much less force required to seat.
    This brings me to my second issue. The install video recommends you "stretch the factory spring" to give more force for the increased capacity. Please don't do that. I was getting a failure to slide lock on about 80% of my final shots for both magazines, even with the springs stretched. I never had a feeding issue, but the failure to lock is also not acceptable for a duty carry gun. I upgraded to a plus power spring (you can find them relatively cheap elsewhere) and it solved the issue with no problem. Further, the factory springs had returned to the normal size when I removed them. Unfortunately, the plus power springs reduced the capacity to +5 (the same issue previously mentioned above persisted, so I carry with +4 (21) now). 21+1 is still better than 17+1, but it isn't 23+1 obviously; however, despite the capacity reduction, this is the only safe way to duty carry these IMO. This is just my two cents in what I experienced with the two I purchased.
    As far as the pros: this company is great to first responders, so I appreciate their support. Also, the exterior profile is great. It looks much nicer than the other ones I have seen floating around from other companies (including more expensive versions from more well-known brands). The side grooves make for easier and faster reloads, especially when combined with their magwell IMO. Even the logo on the base is crisp and not overdone; however, the coating did scratch both times I accidentally dropped them from less than three feet though. Shipping was also very fast and, after you file down the feeders, installation is super easy.
    I would purchase these again if I had to. Buy with confidence, but know their limitations. Stay safe!

    Just a little bit of extra info to help anyone trying to seat the baseplates while trying to work the spring pressure.
    Push down the inner spring plate (metal or plastic) with whatever you need to compress the spring deep into the magazine body, THEN use the grip pin or whatever small diameter pin to NOW insert into the round counter holes to keep the spring compressed while sliding the new baseplate on. Once baseplate is on, pull out the pin and you should be set.
    Sooooo much easier and eliminates the struggle of trying to slide it on while holding pressure on the spring. Hope that helps

    I wanted to try these but I went with the TTI ones because they come with the spring. These may work for awhile with the stock spring but I have had some feeding issues in the past doing that. I wouldn’t worry about it with the plus two plates.

    Brownells sells extra strength springs for use for extended base plates (sku: 078-000-168MB).
    This might be a better solution then stretching the oem spring or until one is provided in the kit.

    • @floydscustomshop2157
      @floydscustomshop2157  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I believe there springs are extra length, so it will reduce the capacity by one, but will work, we are in the process of getting springs, testing some with just one extra coil so see if that is enough and still allows full capacity versus having some special made with extra length but some amount of coils. We will post on Instagram and Facebook when we have them. But the ones from brownels will work otherwise

    I like this method of locking on the baseplate much better than many other extensions I've seen. It's much cleaner looking and seems easier to take apart and put back together. Some extenders I've seen require you to dremel a chunk out of your grip to clear a set screw that sounds extremely finicky to torque properly without damaging the extender or the magazine. Not worth the hassle.

      Most common issues is people tend to leave the stock locking plate in, if that is removed then the follower could be getting caught on the edge of the extension. Some followers have a sharper edge then others, they will wear in naturally, but you can round the back edges of the follower so that it will roll over the edge easily

      @hksigman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Floyds Custom Shop , I’m an engineer. Stretching springs weakens them. It doesn’t add more tension to the spring either. The Wolff + springs may not seem like they make a difference initially but they will be more reliable down the road and will last longer.

      @@alclark5303 no the pro mags are not stock (come with or from the manufacturer) mags, they are aftermarket and are different. I have made a video on the pro mags, they need a little adjustment to work properly.

    Wait, so Floyd's +6 does NOT come with an extended spring? It that why the Taran Tactical +6 costs $2 more since it comes with a spring?
    Now I'm really on the fence on which way I should go..

      No need, we suggest stretching the springs a few extra inches if you need. But we haven't found any aftermarket springs that work any better then the stock ones

      Simply take the screws out to remove the locking plate and slide it off. The spring will snag but it won't damage. I've done it hundreds of times with no issues.
