    **UPDATE**
    Audacity has removed the Equalization Effect from the "Effects" list and relocated it under "Filter Curve". It is still there, just go Effects>Filter Curve to get the same result.
    Since TH-cam has taken down the notes for the video, when choosing the dB value for Noise Reduction, you need to set it above 0. The higher above 0dB, the more background noise you remove. However, keep in mind, the higher the dB value, the more of your audio that is tied to the background noise will be removed as well. Finding the right amount depends on the sample, so play around until you get the right fit!

    Subscribed and realized that I downloaded Audacity to edit voices, but never used it to improve my sound. I'm having problems mostly with my outdoor recordings and wind noise on bike rides. I've been using voice enhance tool and small room filter on iMovie. Up until yesterday I thought this worked okay, but then I saw one of my video on my wife's computer with external (cheap) speaker. I sound like I'm inside an old drum or something. This could really turn off potential subscribers. Now I'm going to try separating the audio and running it through Audacity. Thanks for posting and all the best!

    Guys the old EQ effect has been split into two effect, the "Graphic EQ" and the "Filter Curve" effect. Both of these should be enabled by default.
    As you will see in the manual, the "Filter Curve" effect is pretty much the same as the "Draw" mode of the old EQ effect

    dear sir, i have been using audacity for the last 7-8 years. i have recently updated it to version 3.1.2. i have been using karaoke tracks available in you tube and other channels and record instrumental songs played in my key board and upload to my channel in you tube. i have been playing the instrumental tune in the same pitch of the karaoke track. But for the last 2-3 days, audacity is recording my instrumental track up by 2 pitches than the actual pitch in which i play the tone. i am not able to understand why it is doing it. My audacity project rate (Hz) is 44100 and i changed it to 44800 but in vein.... please help me how to enable audacity to record in the pitch which i play my key board and not in different pitch.....

    So I messed up on a recent recording; I forgot to change my settings before I started recording, so instead of recording sound from my audio mixer, I recorded from my computer's speakers. However, I had my mixer plugged in, so the playback on the audio comes across sounding muffled and distant. Is there any fix to this that you know of?

    • @MisterLiBRiUMz
      @MisterLiBRiUMz  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's muffled and distant, there isn't much you can do. Increase the gain and do a noise removal if you can. That's the only thing I'd suggest.

    • @MisterLiBRiUMz
      @MisterLiBRiUMz  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What specifically? You mean the file format you should use? Pick the insane preset for exporting and a WAV format. You'll get the most quality out of those two

    • @RicardoPorteladaSilva
      @RicardoPorteladaSilva 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      for example:
      1. Remove noise
      2. Normalize
      3. Equalize
      If you describe those steps in the video description, it would be nice! Thanks in advance

  • @BeckyMorales
    @BeckyMorales 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For the equalization, what do you recommend for a female voice?

    • @MisterLiBRiUMz
      @MisterLiBRiUMz  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's difficult to provide an opinion for one size fits all, but essentially, i'd would personally suggest applying a high pass filter that's at approximately 80Hz and a boost for anything between 100Hz-300Hz, standard for most female voices. But these are just some general guidelines. The preferences are different per the user, so spend some time toying around with the curves and see what you feel sounds best. If you sound "thin" a boost is probably what you want. If you sound muddy, try cutting out anything from 300Hz to 500Hz. But, like I said, toy around with the settings and eventually you'll find what works best for your voice.

    • @MisterLiBRiUMz
      @MisterLiBRiUMz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Compressor evens out the peaks, more for clipping. Normalizing sets the dB range for your audio. So if you want +10dB more volume, normalizing will help with this

    I had to leave Audacity due to my voice sounding muffled. I tried several of the effects without success. I went to Studio One and got a perfect clear crisp sound. Audacity is a bit easier so I wish I could figure it out.

    What about improving mp3 files

    His original unedited recording is already miles ahead of mine. There’s no way that’s natural. He has to be using some sort of hardware or software on his microphone prior to the signal reaching Audacity. I wish he brought it up so I could do the same. It’s just as important to record good audio as it is to edit it.

      Nope, nothing special. The recordings in audacity were done in a quiet room with my laptop microphone! My voice over is done on my actual setup and edited similarly as in this video. But, you are right that the hardware you use plays a big role on how the audio will turn out.

    If I have recorded guitar and it's highly distorted. Followed this video and improved the quality, but it still sounds a bit fuzzy, what can I do to help that?

    • @MisterLiBRiUMz
      @MisterLiBRiUMz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean by fuzzy? Like a background static noise or some distortion?

    • @M.C.R.SYNTRN

      @@MisterLiBRiUMz some distortion. My amp sound is perfect but records not so great. It's a boss katana 50. Each note or chord just dosnt sound clear enough

    • @MisterLiBRiUMz
      @MisterLiBRiUMz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@M.C.R.SYNTRN Yeah, distortion is notoriously hard to fix and sometimes damn near impossible. I would use the equalization option and try to filter out high frequencies there. That may help smooth things out a bit. Set a low pass filter at the spot where you tend to see distortion, and see how it sounds.
