Fun stuff my friend, Austin, My cousin, I have been teaching how to ride, juts bought this exact bike. Lot of bike. I have rode it lightly since it is not mine. But fun bike my friend. Thanks for sharing and have a blessed week buddy.
I ended up not getting anything new... Instead somebody just gave me a 2000 Kawasaki Concours... for free!!! I really can't complain about that. I removed the fairings to give it a more Z-like, naked-bike feel, and it works really well. I'm glad you little your 800. It really was underrated. I think people spent too much time reading the specs and comparing it with the FZ-09. That being said, the new Z-900 is really good bike as well.
I liked the Z800 a little better, however Kawasaki doesn't make them any more so I would probably go with the GSXS just because I feel like support will be around a little longer. That being said, you should try to get a test ride on both if possible. Hopefully that helps.
Just buy both haha. When someone ask me my opinion on bikes I always suggest that they be honest about what kind of riding they're going to be doing. Talking with others I find just blurs it for me.Whatever you buy I wish you luck. stay safe
Bought this bike last December and for the most part love it. Just need to work on my cornering a bit. I do wish I'd known about the Z900 to either look at that or wait for more discounts but did get it for like a grand off. Hope you got yours. If not I'd check the new 2017 GSXS750 now as well. It gets good reviews and looks just as beastly.
storm14k I didn't buy it, although I really liked it. I've ridden the GSXS 750 as well. Another fun bike for sure. Although if I had to choose, I would go Kawasaki all the way.
For this type of bike I don't think there is a better value out there. It always rates well in the comparo's in the magazine. while the Yamaha gets all the attention I think it is more hype. The snatchy throttle on the Yamaha would keep me away. I delt with that on the V Strom. I think the Kawasaki is the best sorted bike. Can't wait to see what your decision is.
+azdesertdog It will be a while before I can make that decision. We have to get our finances sorted out first... Hopefully, we'll be ready by the spring. And I agree, that the Yamaha is probably more hype. I still want to test ride it before I 100% decide it's not for me (hopefully next week).
Doesn't the dealership have an insurance? Over here if you crash a bike on a test ride you have to pay 1000-1500 € depending of the dealership and the bike and the insurance covers the rest. Of course it if's just a smaller crash and just some broken lever & such, you can just pay to fix those. It's highly illegal to ride a bike without an insurance and you can get to some serious shit if caught.
Xerdoz I don't know that they do. I signed an agreement stating that if I damaged the bike, that I would be responsible to purchase the bike. I do know that I have my own liability insurance to cover me in the event that somebody else is injured or killed which is the only requirement the state of Oklahoma has for motorcyclists. US laws differ from Europe quite a bit as each state determines its own requirements. There are some states that don't require motorcycle insurance at all. In those instances the financial liability is squarely on the rider.

+Heartland Dual Sport It's a lot of fun, for sure. It's going to be difficult to find anything that much fun.
I just bought the 2016 z800 brand new last week for $5998+6% tax+license and registration=$6612 out the door! It was a stellar deal.
jaimin891 Since the Z900 came out I would think dealers would be trying for get rid of these. That's a great deal. Congrats!!!
I got one 3 months ago was 2016 leftover. $6500 out the door. I love it no matter. Really love it.
That's because she's a sexy machine :) I like the way the Z series looks across the line. Aaaaaannnndddd it's worth the trouble hehe.

Compared to gsxs750 2016model, do you recommend 2016 z800. I am getting an awesome deal on both, left over models brand new.
