Last Ride in Alaska... and other clips that weren't on my last ride, but still happened there
มุมมอง 768 ปีที่แล้ว
I was looking through old footage and realized that I never posted my last ride in Alaska. That was almost a year ago when we left. Time flies. Anyways, I thought it would be good to share some footage that I never did anything with... since I have nothing new right now because my bike is dead. :( This is making me want to get it fixed soon.
Trying to Keep Up with a Night Rod on my XT350
มุมมอง 2.1K8 ปีที่แล้ว
After church a few weeks ago I met up with the Rabid Hedgehog (Link below), to ride down to a place about 30 minutes south of Enid called Roosters in Hennessey, OK. My bike did okay but with the headwind, the best I could muster was about 66 indicated (60mph actual). Fortunately, the Rabid Hedgehog was kind enough to keep a comfortable pace (and by "comfortable" I mean slow on his Night Rod so ...

KLR650 Test Ride **Warning - The ADD is strong with this one**
มุมมอง 35K8 ปีที่แล้ว
Editing this video was tough because I had a really difficult time organizing my thoughts while riding this bike. It was a really fun bike!!! I really can't decide between this and the Z800. I guess the only solution is to get both... Demo Rides made possible by House of Kawasaki www.houseofkawasaki.com/

This was too much fun!!! I can't decide between this and the KLR650 (next video). I keep saying the KLR for practicality, but then I think about the Z800 and it makes me want to say "Screw Practicality"!
2015 Harley Davidson Night Rod Test Ride
มุมมอง 33K8 ปีที่แล้ว
I went to the Suzuki Demo Days in Oklahoma City and liked the Harley best.... Oops!!! While I was there, I met another motovlogger by the name of The Rabid Hedgehog (link below). After chatting with him for a little while, he very kindly offered to let me test ride his 2015 HD Night Rod. Check out his channel, he's an awesome guy. Recently I got to attend a Suzuki Demo Day event at Oklahoma Honda Suzuki in Del City, OK. This bike was a blast. If you like naked/streetfighter style bikes, this is a fun option. For the record, this is not a review If you want technical specs and official comparisons please go somewhere else. I'm just a guy who rides motorcycles and talks about what I like and don't like.

I had the opportunity to go riding with Adventures in Real Life on an extra windy day in Oklahoma. It was one of the more memorable rides I've had just because of how difficult it was to ride. Of course, that also made it a lot of fun. Check out ARL's channel: th-cam.com/channels/V2MvwgDVP88lSyfCDcImGw.html

I did the exact same thing. I had a Yamaha XT250 and traded it for that exact motorcycle.. I love my 2014 Harley Davidson street glide but I miss the dual sport some times
Great!
I ride my Gen2KLR everywhere and ever day. Lots of cargo options and very nice to do maintenance and repairs on. No long down times and thousands spent at a shop. For longer highways runs I'm on an evo flhtc.
When I was shopping for a new klr in 2017, I could not find that camo color anywhere so I settled for the carbon grey. Had all type of bikes over the last 30 years and I love my klr the most.
I love mine! Nearly 10K on my 2018.
the best part is blowing sh*t up. lolzzz not really
I feel sorry for his women ..this guy gas the most annoying voice...stfu already
Sit your ass in some class, you'll never go back.
In which gear would you say you normally shift at for the RPM range? I mean would Up shifting when reaching 3000 rpms be too soon I'm too afraid to redline mine because it seems like the engine gets so loud even at 3000 rpm is it safe to go to 4000
I couldn't tell you. I only test rode this bike once, and it was several years ago when I put this video out. Sorry.
Speaking of the turn signals how do you turn on your 4 way emergency Signal on this Bike I have a 2016 rocket and I still haven't figured out how to do it
Never owned a Harley before, this is probably the one I’d go for.
The seat vibrates a lot? Hmm, that could be lots of fun. Just forget about it, it's a girl thing.
😘
On one of the other videos, it is stated that Harley davidson has no interest in non Harley davidson bike riders, the vrod is being considered a street machine bike, and for some dam stupid reason Harley davidson isn't care for that image, Harley davidson has to realize their will infact slowly fade and die away, because eventually everything done in time, I'm willing to say, Harley davidson doesn't have the money, any other Asian bike company does, all you have to do is look up the Asian bikes of the world, i do have an idea for Harley davidson, but any other ideas other than the "" V-TWIN , it won't ever be considered a Harley davidson motor,,,,but I'm thinking HD needs to rethink their transmission gearbox, but if anyone cares to compare the competition of the world market, HD will get left, if HD s saies gets to dam low ,then guess what's going to happen, they might close on the doors on Harley davidson, and their doing to them selves, it's like a family tree, with no more natural sex activity, no more reproduction, the family tree will fade, die away, I think that's the way nature works, wayneeden95@gmail.com
Uh, I guess you've been living under a rock for the past six months. HD just introduced the Pan America ADV bike with the Revolution Max engine. DOHC, liquid cooled, VVT, hydraulic last adjusters, 150 HP, 9,500 RPM. Plus, they'll be introducing more bikes with this engine in the future. A worthy successor to the V-Rod's original Revolution engine.
That's awesome. I need to get where I trust my bike enough to do that. I've got Dunlop Elite 3's front and back. I'm sure it'll do it, but I don't have that level of confidence yet. I'm always worried my tires are going to break traction and slide out.
Just practice a little at a time don't keep on until you see how to read a curve, youll see what I mean when see the different pitching or roll in difference areas of different corners but start out in a parkinglot doing tight circles while going slow because that i believe is the most helpful skill I know.
Regarding Jiu Jitsu in the Air Force Gracie university etc.. First of all I would never go on to that TH-cam site again close minded ridiculous people. Better off being a Ronan and learning from different people as you go from base to base if you find someone amazing.... The way you know yet they’re amazing is the study Marcelo Garcia Roger Gracie people like that. I’m talking straight with you and I’ve been doing this stuff for 30 years
In regards to Gracie University can be useful if you have the extra cash I’m sure I’ve never tried it I know Rener and he’s incredible teacher. Watch Rener wrestle with the army guys there’s some TH-cam video in the past of him wrestling with a bunch of army guys or something like that. But yes if you don’t have someone to train with the squirrels getting the gracie university. You have the extra cash you can get it anyway. Do you get a little knowledge and your belt You can go on TH-cam if you’re intelligent and pick it right out of the sky Renzo Gracie Marcelo Garcia Roger Gracie Rener Gracie Fernando Terere
Thanks for subscribing Phil!
Oh with that cammo it's sexy alright
Man you rode that thing like a chick
That tends to happen when the bike belongs to a dealer and I don't have the money to purchase it... Thanks for watching.
@@Freespiritphil well said!!
KLR takes you around the world 🌎
WARNING before attempting make sure you watch and read plenty of tutorials 1st order the valve cover gasket and the head gasket 2nd take it apart their should be two lock nuts on the side of the motor and you will need to pull the cams and then their will be 4 bolts holding the head on then after you do that pull the head of a little bit pull out your old gasket inspect for cracks in the jug/head and install your new one you will need to set the timing again. Look on youtube to find out how.
Yeah... this was about 4 years ago. I ended up buying a clymers as well as watching multiple videos before doing it. It ended up going really well after that for a couple more years before the cam chain gave out. That being said, I now have a new bike and a lot more mechanical ability (thanks to the XT).
I wish it had a fuel gauge but I don’t mind rocking back and fourth to get a estimate instead
Use the tripmeter mate, and refuel at 350km/ 250 miles on clock.
The Fat Bob has nothing on this motorcycle. So what is the point of riding a Fat Bob. All you are doing with any Harley is paying for the name
A week after making this video, I got to test the Fat Bob and came to the same conclusion. It's a good bike but not worth the extra money it costs over the Triumph. Thanks for watching.
I love that sound. Scary the first time though
great bike i love the rocket 3 but my bike is a 2017kawasaki concours and its powerful and it dont vibrate check your bike bro. if i was looking for a custom bike surely the rocket 3 would be on my list with the mighty yamaha vmax that for sure. ride safe bro
I have the old style concours with the 1000 engine. I've ridden the C14 once it was a great bike as well.
The FatBob ain’t shit in comparison to the Rocket 3. Shit most Harley’s ain’t shit compared with the Rocket 3. And Triumph made a touring model. If performance comfort and agility is what you want for an all around Cruiser , that’s the Triumph Rocket 3. Experience riders only 👍
that white elcamino was badass.. love those fucking cars.
I want one so bad too... My wife hates them so until I get some extra spending cash that I don't need to put towards my bike addiction It'll have to wait. Lol. Thanks for watching.
Great bikes period
If your Concours 14 is vibrating you should probably check the motor mount bolts. There is a special torque sequence and procedure on this bike because the engine is a stressed member. I think you will see a big difference because these C14's don't vibrate much. As you know it's the same engine as used in the ZX14 and you never hear any complaints from the guys that ride them. The engine has two balance shafts! I'm on my third C14 and they are great bikes to me, though I'm not a fan boy.
I've got the old 1000 version. I've tested the 14 once though and you're right about it being super smooth. It's a great bike
@@Freespiritphil That clears it up!
That’s mostly your kickstand.
Nice review. Love the sound of it and you drove it with respect and didn't abuse it. Good job. Love that bike.
Thank you! I'm not a hooligan type of rider, and I try to be especially careful with bikes that are not mine. At the same time, this bike makes you want to go fast.
Which did you get? I love my Z800 Leftover.
I ended up not getting anything new... Instead somebody just gave me a 2000 Kawasaki Concours... for free!!! I really can't complain about that. I removed the fairings to give it a more Z-like, naked-bike feel, and it works really well. I'm glad you little your 800. It really was underrated. I think people spent too much time reading the specs and comparing it with the FZ-09. That being said, the new Z-900 is really good bike as well.
Any bike that say s let s go when you hit a dirt road is my kind of machine, also compare tune up costs!
Have the same bike I think I have the same problem. Iam going to put new gasket in it this is a bad bike don't give nothing to it but to do it
19/49 sprockets for the hwy!
you still have it?
Eric sin I don't. I sold it about 6 months ago.
Ok I just bought an 88 super low miles because my 98 was stolen last month
I did a Kawasaki Ticket to Ride once where in 2 day s rode 8 Kawasaki s. My fav s were the 1400 fast sportbike ( I would cack myself on that one) and the KLR 650 ! Me I have 2 V-Strom s (650/1000) and Kdx 200 and a non ridden BMW R-65. Maybe a KLR 650 next?
Lyle Raustadt I keep going back to this bike. It has a character and personality of its own. For me, the only down side is that it's a little top heavy but I guess that's why you get crash bars. I will probably end up with this or a cruiser next.
Compared to gsxs750 2016model, do you recommend 2016 z800. I am getting an awesome deal on both, left over models brand new.
I liked the Z800 a little better, however Kawasaki doesn't make them any more so I would probably go with the GSXS just because I feel like support will be around a little longer. That being said, you should try to get a test ride on both if possible. Hopefully that helps.
My dad fixed the heat issue on the left leg with a carbon fiber cutout that fits over the existing bolts on the carburetor.
That's something I might have to consider if I ever do bite the bullet and get one.
the KLR is hard to balance at a stop due to high center of gravity and skinny tires, my gsxr i could roll up and sit at a light without putting my feet down, the klr and 4 years of riding it still cant balance at a stop for more than a few seconds, offroad its ok, its seriously a street bike that wants to be a dirtbike. i love mine, TONS of power on dirt bike trails but the suspension lacks, and for street the brakes are crap, its a bike that is a jack of all trades master of none.
Im six foot and l find the riding position to my liking. I dont stretch for pedals or handlebars. I dont feel folded or awkward at all lm very comfortable and driving with 240 tire in rear is no problem , but l have been riding on and off for thirty seven years. Out of five other HDs l like the 2015 nightrod the best. Itll be my last bike and in twenty years will be collectable sought after bike lm sure. Youd think they would have sold quicker than they could be made? Lucky me l got a low mileage perfect bike for to appreciate forever. Only change on bike from stock form is its short slip on mufflers. It has proper attitude now and sounfs every bit as good as it looks.
Richard Barr yeah... I'm only 5'8" so it was a bit of a stretch for me. Still that's one bike I would be happy to be a little uncomfortable on. It's awesome.
Bad gas can still make them click. But I would look at it as soon as you can before a valve gets bent. It's fairly loud.
I love my 15
With a target styled backpack l would think your a more visible target for the cage drivers. Ive been collected by a cage already and it sucked ass. It ruined my Roadking and my career as a union carpenter. Now lm buying a 2015 Nightrod special.Pussies stay home... Lol Just kidding ofcourse
I'm looking at getting a xt350, owner says it has a slight leak still runs, needs head gasket replaced, how did you handle your situation were you able to fix it how hard was it ect. where's the video of you fixing it, thanks for your time!!!
My XT always had a slight leak so I wouldn't worry too much about that. I ended up buying a head gasket from partsfish.com and swapping it out. It was a relatively simple fix. I just read through my Clymers manual and watched a few TH-cam videos of people doing the same thing on similar engines (Mr Duhfactor's was the best) and then I did what they did. Unfortunately, I never made a video of me doing the work. I didn't have a good camera setup at the time and my work on the bike was fairly sporadic because of my other work and family commitments. Also, I wasn't very confident in my own mechanical abilities. That being said, I gained a lot of confidence from working on the bike so if you are to learn it would be a great platform to do so. My only complaint about it was that finding parts was difficult and expensive because it's a bike that hasn't been made since 2000. If I could do it over I'd probably go for something that parts are little easier to find. Hope that helps.
Freespiritphil wow thanks man good info I appreciate it. I'm not that confident in my mechanical knowledge either, but my dad and lil brother are I will feel alot better about possibly getting it and doing it myself, so no real issues with a slight leak just dirty oily engine exterior and topping off oil every so often?
Travis Barnard As long as it's running well and in may any weird noises, I wouldn't worry about the leak. If it's spewing oil and/or running rough you may have to do some additional work and research to fix the problem. If your dad and brother are mechanically inclined they would be a great place to start when trying to figure out a problem. And if all else fails, Google will be your best friend.
I have a 2015 R3, they are parking lot stupid. But, well you know now. I will have mine tell they bury me on it......
Brent Garens Small bikes are so much fun. I loved the test ride I had on an R3. I actually liked it more than the other Yamahas I tried at that particular demo event (including the R6, FZ09, Super Tenere, XSR900, and the FZ07). I hope you continue to enjoyable it.
yeah I did have a R3R for 3 years .... th-cam.com/video/vbx7CPxgjNk/w-d-xo.html and : th-cam.com/video/HiPSq_VClbs/w-d-xo.html till a stupid woman did not stop at a STOP sign ..... Plenty of blue bruisers ( just was riding at 50 km/h ...... ) I miss that super max monster so much ( it was declared total loss because of engin carter split by right side crash bar - lucky I had those crash bars otherwise my leg should have been total loss ... ). I never forget all those incredible kilometers on that nice supermax monster !!
Not a head gasket
Nice bike 👍🏽
I know... I just wish it were mine.
Great review!
Thank you very much!
Engine brake?
David Johnson Probably... I don't really use engine braking all that much. I would rather pull in the clutch and manually brake than use the engine. Just my preference.
Nice... but your engine is strangled.. mine does 95miles (150km/h) of top speed... its the 31hp version...
It definitely had restrictions. thanks for watching.
