COROS watches are awesome. I had a garmin 945 and the battery wasn’t holding up. In came my COROS apex. Had it for nearly 2 years and loved it. However COROS recalled the watch. (mine was fine) they sent me a replacement apex pro with a fresh 2 year warranty. They definitely take care of their customers!
A few years ago I switched from Suunto to Coros and have no plans on switching away from Coros. My Coros Apex has a longer battery life, slimmer design, and more features than my Suunto (I forget which model I hade, but it was a few years older), and cost less money. Those were enough reasons for me.
Main feature updates from Apex to Apex 2 are topo and landscape mapping, all gps systems on mode, new HR sensor, and touchscreen. There are also some software updates that had been phased out on original Apex. Battery life is pretty similar considering the additional satellite mode. I actually get less longevity per charge than I did with my original Apex. FYI I am talking about Apex model not Apex Pro here.
@@danielthacker3906 Garmin mapping includes the names of trails and roads as their maps are labeled, and they give you turn by turn directions. Coros does not have any labeling on their maps, or any turn by turn directions, just an arrow along the navigated path.
Phew!! Wasn’t going to look at this video as Deb took the plunge on a pair of Apex Pro 2’s literally 5 hours before the video came out! Based on your review seems like it was a good choice. As long time Garmin users (15+ years) it’s going to be interesting to see the difference. Once again nice video Loyd.
Good morning Run4adventure and all the runners. Very interesting comparison. Like for Loyd. I have the garmin forerunner45, a basic GPS running watch . A nice monday for everyone.
Long time Garmin user, but always had interest in coros, especially since my ultra brothers and sisters say so many good things about price to battery life ratio. Thanks for the video.
I’ve been using the same Apple Watch since 2016. But I am very interested in upgrading to a coros! I use to be a serious runner running 50-70 miles a week. But the past couple years I’ve been getting into trail races and want to do longer races! This is a great video to see what would work best for me! Thank you!!
imo, nobody holds a candle to apple watches in terms of smart watch and fitness tracking features. garmin has got better navigation and huawei has managed to come close in hrm and battery life with gt3, but apple still holds the crown as overall smart watch
I have a coros apex(1) Running 40-80k a week and doing some not Ultratrail races. My longest run was 40k 2500+. Used 15-20% of the battery. They update the sw regularly with bugfixes and new or improved features. I think they are great sports watches. But they are not an Apple Watch they are great for sports and as a watch. After about 3.5 years I need to charge maybe ones a week ( about 8+ hrs of excercise per week)
Looks good Loyd. I went through a similar thought process last year. Ended up with a 1st gen Garmin Enduro on sale for £359. Decided I could live without topo maps and music but the battery life is insane, over 80 hrs GPS. Literally 2 days later, the Enduro came out for, wait for it, £929! 😱 Doesn't matter, these days I need a sun dial and calendar 🤣
Happy with my 1st gen Garmin Enduro, all the new bells and whistles, maps I never used on my Fenix 6 pro, as I much prefer my iPhone mini for navigation, and a charged mobile is mandatory part of kit now for Ultra races.
I have a Coros Vertix, and the only issue is putting on coats and rucksacks. It does get caught up. But when I only have to charge it once a month, I can put up with the size
Great video 👍 I recommend coros to people who ask me about gps watches. I had a fenix 6 for a long time and it did everything I needed, I recently upgraded to enduro2 only for the battery life. Corus is a great watch and if budget is important it beats garmin, but if you run 100 milers and are ok with dropping a grand on a watch the enduro2 is better imo.
If I’m honest comparing Coros with Coros isn’t really something worth doing. I’ve been sat on the fence about swopping from my Fenix 6x pro to a Coros and other than battery I still cannot see a good reason to swop. Would love to see you do a proper head to head with Garmin to Coros. I’ve also got several friends who moan about the hr sensor on their coros, and also the lack of way points.
I'd love to do a head to head with Garmin but I can't afford one! There's no way I can spend out on a new Fenix just to do a review 😬 I actually thought the wrist heart rate was really good on the new Apex Pro 2, definitely a lot better than the one on my original Apex Pro. Obviously I've not tried the HR on a Garmin so I can't compare 🤔 Hole you are fit and well and thanks for watching Dean 🙏
@@Run4Adventure Hopefully Garmin at some point will feel confident enough to reach out and let you test one. You would definitely do the review justice

There’s absolutely no difference in syncing a .gpx route in the Apex 2 series vs original Apex. Coros updated that a few years back. Routes sync to Coros app from saved Strava routes automatically as always as well.
I was talking about the Apex Pro and the Apex Pro 2 when it comes to syncing a gpx file. When I first got my Apex Pro it wasn't that straight forward at all Nathan. Like I said in the video, this was my first time running with the Apex model but Coros stated that the Apex battery life had gone from 35hrs to 45hrs so that's why I mentioned that the battery life had improved. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 👍😊
I'm rocking my Garmin 955, I would say is a much better product, with a worse kind of construction. But technically speaking Garmin in my opinion is still better.
As you say mate, there is no right or wrong with GPS watches, it is all personal preference. I do not think you can easily compare Garmin and Coros, both are very good and both have their strong and weak points. I am a Garmin fan personally, but I do struggle with the price of Garmin watches and I would find it hard to jusitfy paying for a Garmin Enduro. It is one area I think Garmin need to work on. I have a Garmin Instinct Solar, it has a great battery but only breadcrum maps, so I am considering an upgrade but to what I do not know, my budget cannot streatch to £1k for a top of the range Garmin...
Also, this might not be any kind of indication, but check out the athletes for Coros and the Athletes for Garmin... There are no trail runners advertised for the Garmin brand!! 🧐
The Pace 2 is a lot more basic when it comes to the features on the watch. It really depends on what your going to use the watch for? If you want navigation, maps and a long battery life I'd go for the Apex 2 or Apex Pro. If you don't need any of that the Pace 2 is still a great watch. Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏😊
