Hi i am calculating to replace my Civic Hybrid battery ni mh with 38120 heaway battery of 10Ah, voltage is close to the OM battery, the OM battery has a system of bms on each stic, should i try to use this system from the car that will check the voltage from 5 battery stik in series ? The total number of cels is 55 in series split in 11 stik with separated conection this should give me 199v and 10Ah with ~4 Ah more than the new OM one. What do you think will this work?
Unfortunately no. But I sell a battery the size of a motorcycle battery supports a 5k system. Perfect for baggers with systems or the car. LIFEPO4 20ah. All on stock alt.
How do you prevent overcharge from one cell? As every connection to monitor the pack is non accessible. The balancer will do some work but with a 5A+ charge rate that puny balancer won't keep up. Definitely not with used cells. Why not use a BMS and a contactor, the way it's supposed to be done?
The balancer works continuously to average out voltage drift, so unless the cells are so mismatched that they have drastic drift on a single-cycle bases, there won’t be issues. & if they cells are that mismatched, it’s probably time to disassemble the pack and re-sort, removing the most degraded cells to be used together in another pack for better match. Yeah, it may require purchasing a few cells but if someone already has invested into this setup, the extra cost isn’t that significant overall.

Could use some foam or something to occupy the rest of the space inside the case. Especially in any application that will vibrate.

Not a must, it’s common for car audio setups to use balancers only.

Do it however you want, but despite your opinion there a lot of people successfully using these cells this way for years now.
