    If you can't beat them join them! You can mass-produce these and be the middle man to audio stores. Have them pre package with your name or brand on them. I can see these on the shelves of my local audio store

    You should definitely use a hydraulic crimper with those ferrels. The resulting difference is massive and is equivalent to the strands fusing into one after proper crimping, which is important for longevity especially in the trunk of a car and for minimizing the resistance in the connection.

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are differing opinions on whether large ferrels should be crimped. Crimping it is going to make it out of round and when you install it in a lug, like on an amplifier, it will have a tiny contact patch. What good is a massive connection between the copper wire and ferrel if the connection to the amp is poor?
      On the other hand, doing it like in this video will at least maintain the bottom 50% of the ferrel shape. So you'll get better contact with the lug.
      Whichever you choose is up to you.

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 ปีที่แล้ว

      It makes no sense to cut these pcb boards down. Plus 2oz is quite thin, 0.002". If you use 1/32" copper sheet that is 0.030". It's way thicker and way cheaper, but you still have to cut it out and drill holes, etc...

    So 36 would be rated for 1000 amps potentially. I have a bank of 84. 21s4p 168ah. So that should be close to 2500 amps. Ive always heard that adding another 0 is close to the wattage that it can handle. That would mean my bank should be able to handle close to 25,000 watts. Is that correct? Just doesn't seem right. Lol. I'm running about 15k watts and never drop below 13 volts tho so maybe it is close.

    Most all car audio guys are going to be using multiple runs of 1/0 wire running to the battery. If say a 7500 watt amp wired to .5 ohm has 3 pos/neg hookups most will run adapters to run 6- 1/0 cables for positive and 6 for negative. And there are a lot of amps out there that are a lot bigger than that. And then you might have 2 or 4 sub amps just like that. Then you have amps for the mids and highs which also require there own lug. Then you need multiple runs of wire from the alternator to the battery. Before you know you have 12- 1/0 wires going to the positive and 12 to the negative.
    Thats why car audio guys need those big bus bars with a lot of connection points. Not to mention your starving your amps of juice if you have a 2 guage connection. Lots of videos showing on a dyno the huge difference in power it makes

    can you make a 12volt 18650 PCB that can handle 500-1000Amps with a small BMS just for balancing

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't really get 12v with an 18650 cell. You can do 3S and be below 12v or do 4S and be above 12v.
      The other issue is how would you connect an 18650 cell to a pcb. They don't have threaded ends.
      The device your looking for is called an active balancer. A BMS has lot of other stuff.

Just wonder how they are protecting the cells from over/under voltages. I have zero use for a battery of this type, but I still want to build one.

      EV community uses BMS with discharge rigged to a contactor, or multiple in parallel for switching high amp and high voltage loads.

    • @SirSmokesAlott
      @SirSmokesAlott ปีที่แล้ว

      Just don't over charge them, make sure your alternator voltage isn't going above 14.65.
      They can sit for a year and not self discharge under safe levels. It's really not that big of a deal.
      Even if they're discharged extremely low, they can be recovered with a slow charge. They also are some of the safest lithium out there. Unlike cmax cells.

    • @JasonWW2000
      @JasonWW2000 ปีที่แล้ว

      You control the over voltage through your alternators voltage regulator. You control the lower voltage by watching the voltmeter as you use the battery. If it gets low, start up the engine.

    Finally more copper!
    Now for a demo of them pulling 500 amps through a 1k amp board and see if it can handle it without heating up all crazy.
    Great stuff, but imo theyre still overrated as far as amperage. (Per your own demo when a small pull for s few minutes heated the board up a lot)
    Id half the rating and not worry about people being upset about the heat build up, as any heat isnt ouput its just a heater at that point.
    Even thin diy aluminum bars arent going to heat up like the 500amp board did in your video, thats my only gripe about it.
    Other than that these are great, i might actually grab a 1k one for testing purposes now.
