Wisely spoken... I'm always surprised by how some of the greatest songs in rock history are presented live. Then I watch a live video from extreme and my hope comes back
You hear all the guitar legends being mentioned. But for some reason, Nuno always gets lost in the mix. He is a much better guitar player than most of the so called legends. Nuno is truly amazing.
Jerrad you are so right. I had the opportunity to meet him during the Pornografitti tour. He was an ass. But he can still play the hell out of the guitar.
Samsuri, he is just really cocky. He has a big ego and thinks he's better than everyone. At leas that's how he acted when I met him. But that was a long time ago. He may have changed by now. But I doubt it. It still doesn't change the fact that he ca really play. He's self taught. Which may lead to his arrogance.
I think the reason some believe NUNO is overlooked is because of his personality. He is very low key when he doesn’t have a guitar strapped on. No doubt he could easily draw attention to himself in other ways. But he is a true guitar hero. Since Extreme first came on the scene until now he has never tried to do anything other than master his instrument. He is my all time favorite. What stands out for me; is that he is NEVER overlooked by his peers. Every guitar player there is, professional or otherwise, all tip their hat to this man. I do not believe ANYONE alive or dead would want to cut heads or trade chops with him. I’ve never seen a negative word written or heard anything negative said about him. Normal people may not know who he is but to those of us who play, he is a household name. Whenever a young guitarist gets a big head and starts thinking they are the greatest ever: they should watch NUNO. They will realize just how far they have to go. Lol

terry miller there’s some truth to that, though Extreme were extremely popular...not hurt by More Than Words and Nuno being extremely goodlooking I remember seeing Extreme open for Bryan Adams around the time that Everything I Do was THE hit There were a lot of teenage girls and their moms expecting teen pop and sensitive ballads from Extreme, and were very shocked by the highly sexual funk metal they played!😂
Back in 1990, I was listening to the radio and they played Decadence Dance. When the song was over, the DJ said something along the lines of Keep your eye on this guy Nuno Bettencourt, he's really something to be reckoned with. Well, I've been keeping my eye on him for about 30 years now, and it's been worth every look. One of the single greatest guitar talents of all time, not just the Guitar Gods of the 80s and 90s.
Heard this masterpiece live at a radio station in Paris back in 1994 and have never forgotten about it. I was in shock. Nuno is an alien, he is 'hors catégorie'.

Nuno is one of the main reasons I practiced so hard for soooo long. He's truly a legend on 🎸. ....that goes for any style. Sometimes he can make you not want to practice. Lol
25 years of searching! In 1996 my cousin recorded this (Heavenly piece of music) from a Radio channel, in Amman/Jordan, on a cassette-tape! It wasn't the whole song even! And the recording was so bad that we barely could hear! We didn't know who this music was for?!! But we loved it!! Specially because we are guitarists! Afer a short time, the tape got lost somehow! And since then we are trying to find out to whom was this music by trying humming it and playing some parts of what we remember and descriping it to friends and musicians!! Since then, each time i remember the melody i spent hours, nights searching on it, and then get fustrated afterwards!, then i go knocking my cousin's head if he found it!... But TODAY & NOW I just recorded the beginning on my mobile and sent it my cousin!!! Never giveup!!! :))))))))))

Nuno's right hand is such a fine-tuned machine, sense of rhythm is on par with the greatest drummers. The syncopation is what gives him the edge over other guys that also have amazing right hands, like Morse and Petrucci. Even Al DiMeola would probably like playing this, even if it it's not as sophisticated harmonically as what he does. Great stuff.
@@Fartsnack Not even close. It's not about speed, accuracy or power...Nuno has a sense of groove and natural rhythmic proficiency that is out of this world. And I love JP too (for whatever it's worth he's more 'schooled'), but on this, there's simply no comparison.
Nuno has always been a great guitarist I bought Extreme album as a kid and was pleasantly impressed and surprised, I think maybe because it’s not thrash and hardcore metal like the Big4 , either way he’s a monster on guitar and no one in there right mind can deny that!!!
I actually listen to this every time I travel with the early express. It's not exactly midnight, but since it's almost winter it's quite dark outside for about 2 hours. AND watching the sunrise while listening to this song in a train is the ultimate experience.

We got many great rock guitarists who can do wonders on electric guitar, but very few can transfer their mastery to acoustic so cleanly and effortlessly! Nuno Bettencourt is undoubtably one of the best guitarists we have ever come across.
Been a BIG fan for decades. Used to have pics of him on my wall, as an adult lol. Hes only 5 yrs younger than me! Dang, music keeps you young and sexy! How I would love sing and play guitar with him! This sounds so good. 💜💜💜

Maxime Boivin it was written and originally done on a 12 string acoustic. I saw him perform it live at Hampton Beach well before it was ever released.

I saw Extreme play back in the 90's at The Fillmore in San Francisco. Nuno performed a solo I never forgot. He's just awesome.
