This is the main reason why we watch other people's reactions to Ren songs, to relive those emotions that we felt when we first discovered them. It also gives a feeling of community and empathy to watch his songs powerfully touch others in the same way as it did ourselves...
Another wonderful reaction 👍. While this song is excellent, it’s an appetiser compared to their other duet “How To Be Me”. For a good example of Chinchilla’s range can I suggest either “1:5 (live)” or “Fingers” (live for Hunger TV).
I concur. This is not a patch on the songs you suggest. This is OK if you have never heard the others. Chinchilla is a little behind a lot of the time in this song, which she is not in *How to be me*. I have often wondered if it was intentional?
Personally, I have it the other way around; I see how to be me and the original version of this as appetisers for this performance. Horses for courses.
You are the first reactor to pick up on Chinchilla’s inflection on ‘there’s a pill for “everything”. This shows that they are considering how to sing every word.
This is one of my real favourites from Ren closely followed by the same two doing " How to be Me " I also love " Penitence " Ren and Molly McKinna, it is simply beautiful. Loving your professional reactions.
Both Ren & Chinchilla have great breath control - apparently Ren can hold his breath for 3 minutes. They're such good singers they don't need Auto Tune.
I would really love to see your reaction to ‘For Joe’. It encapsulates the whole perfectly imperfect style of Ren (though I see and feel it more as imperfectly perfect😉) in order to capture every raw emotion. It is a live performance where Ren is playing piano and it centers around his best friend Joe, who took his own life. And there are a couple other songs that tie into Joe; ‘Su!cIde’, ‘Freckled Angels’ and ‘How to Be Me’ (another live duet with Chinchilla). They are all very emotional and extremely powerful…not to mention so important in regards to bringing “dark and taboo” subjects into the light. Wonderful reaction and vocal/performance analysis🙂
Just listened to this on spotify and although great I think the raw version is SO much better it's filled with emotion. I wish all the auto tune and pitch correcting would stop.
Hello new sub here😊 As you are a vocal coach and focuse on singing technique. My next Ren reccomendation are: - Back to 74-message in a bottle retake. - Fred Again Mash-up, - The Big Push Wade in the water /Nina Simone. Appreciate you, thank you for your support ❤
The best musical “siblings”. Ren has called her his sister from another mister and a female version of himself due to their similar approach to music. For me I think it shows in the fact that they both have that something special that draws you in and demands attention. To see it fully for Chinchilla, check out her live version of Fingers. This song always reminds me that one of the (many) things that makes Ren so great is his ability to know exactly when to be complex, keep it simple, or even use silence to get his message across. He isn’t flexing his guitar skills in this, just playing exactly what is needed with that beautiful guitar tone. And my favourite line in this is so simple, totally devoid of all the clever metaphors that he is so good at using, but it hits soooo hard: “I’m scared of being okay cause all things change”. I think anyone who has been through any struggles can relate to that feeling of not trusting that anything good will last. You can’t just enjoy it because you’re busy worrying about how long it will last and the feeling that will come when it’s gone. And then good days just make the darkness feel so much worse because you remember the light that’s gone… Ren is so special. He keeps being so relatable that it reminds us that we’re not alone. And we will always make room for more RENegades down the Ren rabbit hole cause we all need his light in the darkness 🐰🕳️ If you want more emotional singing from Ren, please check out one of my personal favourites: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before he was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and beautiful. And very different from everything else in his catalogue.
Ren has some amazing collabs - check out ones with Eden Nash - 'Humble' and 'Ocean'. For some solo Chinchilla look at '1:5 (live)' for emotion and 'Little Girl Gone' for a banger
REN always pure 🔥🔥 but PLEASE try some of Chinchilla's earlier catalogue like ELEMENT'S or ONE TIME or FABULOUS or TERMS AND CONDITIONS or LOCKDOWN GET DOWN or TRIGGER or SHADOWS or KNOW NO or any of her Live performances 🤯🎶🎵🍯🤌🙏💪🐝🍀🇬🇧
There's nothing from Ren, Chinchilla, or any of Ren's other collaborations, that I haven't fully enjoyed. I believe you'd like HUMBLE, by Ren and Eden? Chinchilla also has amazing solo music!
Um, I realize your a vocal coach and all, but not one thought on the actual importance of this song's lyrics, what it means and how and why it deeply resonates with so many people.

The rawness of the live version makes it so much nicer to listen to them the studio version, for me. It connects in a much more authentic way.
Same.

Agreed How to be me live version and this one one my fav of the duo

Never heard this song before, but now I love it
I’d love to hear what you think of Chinchilla “Fingers “ live for hunger tv. She shows her power in this.
The loud chair is an Easter egg , cherophobia ( pronounced chair ) is the fear of being happy 🇬🇧
He is absolutely perfectly imperfect ❤❤
Oh please react to chinchilla 1:5 live you won't regret it!!!
There is sooooo much more REN. Keep going all his friends are good like Chinchilla!

If you really want to hear Chinchilla really "Bring It"... Listen to Fingers Live Edition or 1:5 Live. Both are amazing singing performances.
Have a happy holidays Freya Casey - Master Your Voice

Waituntil you see Blind eyed with Sam Tomkins
Interesting, thanks for reacting to this one
You need to check out "How To Be Me" by Ren & Chinchilla (LIVE) next! They consider themselves musical soulmates!
One of Rens own favourites

For more Chinchilla you can try out her 1:5 (the live version); I think you would love it!
Thank you for the commentary. You're right, the studio version almost sounds soulless compared to the perfection of this one take.
🔥

Really enjoying your reactions. Depending on what songs you listen to by Ren, you may discover this is nowhere close to his high range.
Um, I realize your a vocal coach and all, but not one thought on the actual importance of this song's lyrics, what it means and how and why it deeply resonates with so many people.
