    thank you for this video... i have a 200x that has the same set up and that blind bearing puller makes it easier than using a drift punch

    In the middle of restoring an old family one that we had that was going to rot, what type of grease should be used in the front, the books don't specify, they just state to lubricate it...not much to go off of.

    Hey thanks for posting this video ! . The front wheel on mine has a squeak in it . I have the same year big red. Also thanks for the torque specs. Do you recommend any particular brand of bearings ? Or ones not to get that are notoriously bad?

      I recommend Honda bearings and seals. The originals generally lasted 30+ years. They are still available as of January 2021.

    What size socket did you use to press in the bearings?

    Thanks for the video, I noticed the axel grease you used was kind of red in color, do you have a link to the actual grease you used or recommend to lube the axel before we reinstall it?

    • @macsgarage
      @macsgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It wasn't anything special. That grease just helps keep rust off the axle so hopefully it comes apart next time.

    • @macsgarage
      @macsgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A marine grease would likely be the best

    I need help getting the front axle on my 84 atc 200es its so frkin stuck in there, i hammered the hell out of it and all i did was messed up the thread 😅

    • @macsgarage
      @macsgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heating up and quenching with cold water tends to help help loosen rusty fasteners. You'll have to grind the messed up threads off before it will turn out now.

      @@macsgarage that’s a good thing. They don’t use salt. Like they do down by Calgary. It’s so bad

      They should be available from any Honda ATV dealer or online Honda power sports store.

    • @macsgarage

      I don't have one here but it should be close to the size of the threads on the axle bolt.

    • @macsgarage
      @macsgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can also drive them from the other side with a long punch but be careful not to damage the hub.

  • @BrushlessNitroSlayer
    @BrushlessNitroSlayer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    why not just use the old bearing to whack the new bearing in instead of the socket?

    • @lazarusbambakidis6820
      @lazarusbambakidis6820 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      because the bearing is not flush with the face of the hub, there is a gap for a rubber seal that the old bearing would get stuck in whereas the socket is long enough to simply pull out.

    • @macsgarage
      @macsgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What Lazarus said and also because there is typically a little play in the bearing being replaced so if you use it as a driver it will put pressure on the center of the new bearing being installed which isn't great. I have a box full of old bearings and races to use for pressing and such but it doesn't work here.
