This is the problem with gun laws. We have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms. There is no "right" to have a drivers lic yet anyone in one state can drive in any other wo worrying about whether or not their state lic is good in another state. WHY THE HELL CAN'T WE GET THIS FOR OUR RIGHT TO CARRY! It's infuriating what one has to go thru to try and be legal to travel across the country. We need to have a national carry lic. so that citizens who can carry have the right to carry in all states, counties, and towns. It's absurd how many loops you have to jump through to go across this country and still be able to carry.
@@lovematters7122 Criminals are going to be criminals and not care about any of the laws. When you impose laws upon the law abiding citizens, you are depriving us of our right and allowing the criminals to carry firearms while we are stripped of our defensive capability.
Guys, come RV in Wyoming! Constitutional carry here in the last great state of the old United States. And we have Yellowstone and Teton National parks.
Constitutional carry here in NH too, but we prefer our tourists to bring money rather than guns. So I agree that you should all go to Wyoming instead. I had a great time there for the 2017 solar eclipse. Already too many tourists here, so we make sure you have to pay through the nose to sleep in your vehicle. We use local squatters to block some of the free places.
I happened on your channel and found it interesting to say the least. As a Certified Firearms Instructor I can tell you that the amount of laws governing the "who, what, where and how" you can own or carry a firearm, is at least 20,000 laws. Most lawyers don't even know the various laws from area to area.
A simple question ... can I legally carry just a shotgun in my camping trailer across the country without the problems associated with concealed carry of small firearms? I have not been able to find answer.
John and Mercedes I'm glad to see my comments on the video prior to this one about knowing the self defense laws in where you are traveling through didn't fall on deaf ears. I applaud you two for broaching this subject. I thought you two did a very fine job on a very complex subject. Like I said in my earlier post it's not the transporting of a firearm, it will be the method / act of self defense in that local area. I briefly scanned the comments from others with the 2A comments, what one needs to realize is that the absolute greatest threat to our bill of rights is every time a legislature at any level meets. There is no greater threat in my opinion. Another point is to say absolutely nothing except fear for your life or that for your loved ones, and lawyer up immediately invoke the 5th / Right to remain silent within the first 5 seconds as in YOU need to be on the phone calling a lawyer then ( this needs to happen for all in your party). Why? several reasons you are traveling and probably just shot /killed a local person in the act of self defense. It won't matter that he or she was a dirt bag scum of the earth since they was 6 years old. What will matter is the family and friends will push that governmental attorney as well as the local LEO's into frying you in court. The other is that even though we are supposed to be using the same language, more times than not what you say will be misconstrued and twisted, thus will be used against you in a court. That includes any statement that your traveling party says regardless of age, relationship or any other factor. With that being said it's not a mistrust of the police, it is the need to invoke the right to remain silent. Your adrenaline is pumping, your mouth and verbiage has no filter you will be talking your way into a prison sentence. Let the lawyer explain EVERYTHING during the interview with the police. There really ideally should only be one story yours. Like I said earlier in my post of the previous video thank God for them ( the police / LEO's), but they will be pressured by the surviving friends and family of the person you killed or shot. Remember your a stranger traveling through, not a member of their community. Now I'm not a lawyer, and what I posted is not legal advice except YOU NEED a Lawyer, but one does not need to be a lawyer to understand why I say what I say. Also don't fall for the trap "oh if you have nothing to hide ...." sorry but that is a fishing expedition used by the LEO's. And trust me it is effective we as humans want / desire validation of being in the right. I apologize for this lengthy post but felt the need to validate your Video. I have only posted comments on youtube or any social media twice in my life and it has been your videos. P.S. and completely off topic did anyone notice that the National Park Service is being sued for going cashless by three people from differing states that should be a interesting video once the ruling comes out

Yeah, and those people in Nebraska (older couple at rest stop) wouldn't have been helped if their firearm was locked away while traveling. So stupid, these laws.
During my one year service as a federal grand juror.... every gun related federal case we the juror heard... one of the first charges was stated that the gun was mentioned as "Interstate". "Interstate" related charges have to do with where the gun was made and the State it was made in. If a gun is manufactured in Connecticut and shipped to a dealer in another State..... The Interstate charge is in effect and brought to existence when the gun and suspect are charged with other related crimes that involves the gun being used to commit crimes.
Retired veteran heading to Canada to do some adventuring. Found that it is a criminal offense (you will go to jail) if you bring anything for self-defense into Canada. You name it, it is illegal. You can bring a shotgun or other long gun used for hunting, but you must fill out many forms at the border. Putting everything into storage before heading out.
Uscca will not cover you if the cops decide to arrest you and charge you with a felony while they investigate your situation. I dropped them when I researched their small print.
It's in the Constitution which limits federal areas of power, and gives the rest to the States. But it also says that all states must honor the titles, deeds, and licenses of all other states, which only with gun laws doesn't happen.
I keep it simple and stay in AZ. In a gun class they told us if there was an intruder it was up to the homeowner to leave the home if possible. Blew my mind!!!
I have had USCCA Elite membership for about a year now. The online training has been really great and though I hope I never ever need it, it’s nice to know I have the coverage for legal help if I need it.
Besides having legal coverage in the worst case scenario, training with your firearm, especially tactical, is paramount to being prepared in the worst case scenario.

Another great topic John and Mercedes. Much needed discussion on this topic. I belong to Attorneys on Retainer for 2nd amendment legal defense. it covers not only firearm situations but any type of assult. Beware of these insurance policies that are being sold to you such as us law Sheila and uspca insurance. It's a insurance policy not something I would advise. Call Attorney on Retainer and find out what they offer. please call them. Thank you
You should read and understand the contrat with the different insurance/attorney programs, some state that if you break a law then you have no coverage. such as carring in a state that does not allow carrying guns, and many other things that a zealous officer can come up with. Not everyone believes you should have the right to own a firearm.
If you're a full-time Rver & your ccw expires & you don't have a permanent residence (po bxes & mail services not allowed)...just like voting, drivers license, you have to have a physical address in your name.
Thank You, What states are you talking about ( that you wouldn't travel) ? I live in Wisconsin and I travel all over the midwest by myself and one thing I do or try to do is not draw attention to my self.
I have my Cc in my state (Michigan) & practice regularly. MI is also an open carry state ( with restrictions). What’s crazy is even with my CC, when traveling in my car I Must have my ammo secured separately from my gun. So what am I supposed to say to someone trying to hijack my car . . Excuse me & give me a moment to Retreiver my magazine & load my gun????? Rediculous!!!!!!
If you're in your car, you're supposed to drive away, not shoot someone "trying to hijack" you. If you're not in your car, there is no gun/ammo separation problem. Until you actually pull the trigger, an empty gun can do anything that a loaded gun can do, as far as scaring off someone. And in the incredibly unlikely event that you're being shot at while in your car, hitting the gas is a way better idea than getting into a gun battle. Way too many people think of their guns as their best and only defense. It is never your only defense, and often is not your best defense. That definitely includes when you're in your car and someone is trying to get in. Fight or flight is an easy choice when flight will work and fight can get you killed. Everyone thinks they'll win a gun battle, even when they are taken by surprise by someone who has a head start on you. Just like everyone in the poker room thinks they're better than the other 9 players at the table. There are more fish than sharks, in both cases.
You need to re-read the law.Michigan law does not require you to keep ammo and pistol separated in your vehicle if you a valid CPL.A long gun is another story.Shotguns and rifles must be cased and unloaded for transport, but not a handgun if you have a valid CPL. If you doubt me feel free to stop by your local Police or Sheriff station and ask the desk officer.
Thanks for this follow up video about crossing state lines with firearms and the challenges associated with doing so. Are you familiar with Byrna launchers which offer a less lethal self defense option and if so, what are your thoughts? Thanks!
I've been saying since I got out of the Navy the government are not your friends. The people in the government seem to forget that they serve at the pleasure of the people and the people at any point have the power to take their power back if they are not pleased with the service being provided😊😊
USCCA has great tools for state laws. They also provide liability and criminal insurance with lawyers. They also provide online and in person training.
USCCA has awesome training but they left two of their clients in the cold that we know of. I took advantage of their 100% return if not satisfied and went with CCW Safe.
Actually it is simple. The federal government is the only entity that has jurisdiction over interstate commerce. If a local or state entity tries to interfere with a persons right to transit through any portion of their journey that is a federal violation by the locals. And that will result in their arrest if the victim pushes hard enough to protect their right to transit.
Check with GOA or USCCA ... they can get you up to date on these laws. Also get some insurance for yourself ... to cover you in case you need to defend yourself.
For three years I traveled across 44 states moving every day or two on average. I didn't have time to research each state, county, and city law and regulation so I gave up (that's what they want us to do!) and locked my unloaded firearms in one safe and my ammunition in another and never pulled them out unless I was in a sketchy place, and usually I'd move on from sketchy places before loading. Fortunately, I've settled into a campground for a while where I have a guard chicken named Charlie that watches out for me.🐓
I know this for a fact. You can NOT go on, in or near Bourbon Street in New Orleans, LA with a firearm. You will end up with a code 95 charge at Orleans Parish Justice Center Detention Facility. They have police that specifically patrol only that particular area. Those particular police have body scanners on them. They will know if you have a firearm on you or not. You don't even have to show it. I know this because I used to work at that detention facility as a nurse. A good rule of thumb is "If an area has a high volume of alcohol sales, chances are it is zoned as a gun free zone." which makes sense anyway. Alcohol and firearms do NOT mix ever. Bad combination!!! Question: How can someone retreat in a 30' camper with only one door? Does not seem possible to me. What are the states you won't go to? Another good rule of thumb: Don't give them a reason to stop you. Stay within the speed limit if you have a gun in the vehicle. Drive like you should drive.
Surely where I was born and raised (NJ) and where I went to college and spent most of my adult life (MA) made his list. Pretty restrictive laws, but nobody in my family ever had a problem due to that, and in MA, I got an unrestricted concealed carry permit at age 24, no problem. Bit of a hassle sending certified-mail letters to 3 places every time I moved (state office, and police in from/to towns) but never a problem. One MA law of note, is that it is illegal to leave a firearm in a vehicle unattended, out of your "direct control". And you know what? It was kind of nice knowing that criminals and morons could be prosecuted for violating tight laws like that, if they got stupid and left a gun in their car door pocket for someone else to steal. Oops, did I just call John a moron for doing that? As for cops not bothering you if you stay within the speed limit, I'll say that it helps, but is far from a guarantee, at least if you drive through Kansas. They are well known for conducting illegal stops and illegal searches, and are under federal court orders to knock it off. But this April 20th I was heading home from NV to NH, and happened to be passing through Kansas on I-70 a bit before Topeka. Note that Kansas is a "zero tolerance" state for marijuana, sandwiched between two legal-pot states, Colorado and Missouri. And note that April 20th is 4/20, and 420 is associated with pot. I am not a pot user. Just an old guy driving a Prius 65 in a 70 down I-70, on radar cruise control with lane assist. Car loaded up with cameras, astronomy gear, a freezer full of PowerAde and water bottles, a bed, and camping gear after a solar eclipse expedition in TX, visiting an RV nomad in AZ, and hiking in NV. My car has an alarm that goes off if I wander from my lane. It did not go off, and I was not wandering in my lane. They stopped me for wandering in my lane and "driving on the shoulder line". Said they were checking that I was OK. When they saw I was sober and perfectly fine, they said they'd run my plate and license, and just give me a warning. Then 3 more troopers arrive. A canine circles my car and puts his paws on my rear passenger window. Suddenly they say they have probable cause to search, and take me a couple car lengths in front of the car, with the canine cop keeping me there while 3 or 4 others rummage through my car for 15-20 minutes. When I told him I'd been camping near Area 51, he told me his story of seeing a UFO. Hopefully someday he'll remember they probed him and the dog. The head cop then says "He's right, there's nothing. Let's go." No apology, no hesitation to get back into their positions to illegally search someone else. And off they go, leaving me to re-pack my car, in an empty weigh station entrance. As I rolled out of the weigh station, the scale lit up. I was rolling down the road at 4180 pounds, with a GVWR of 4115. The one thing they could have gotten me for, they missed! I could not stop laughing. They'd been pretty polite and relaxed, but I was pissed about having my rights trampled. Despite having been 15 minutes from where I was planning to stop for the night, and very tired, I drove onward until I was out of Kansas. Kansas is now the only state on my no-go list. Though I know you should never answer any question from a cop, when they walked me away from the car, they asked if I had any weapons on me, and I told them I had 2 knives in my pocket. The canine cop just said "As long as they stay there, we won't have a problem." They asked whether there were weapons, knives, needles, chemicals, or anything else dangerous in the car. I told them what was where, not much. When I got back home and was unpacking, I ran across a machete and two bear spray canisters I'd forgotten to tell them about. So in 20 minutes, 4 guys can't find a machete or bear spray. What are their chances of finding pot if you hid it? Surprisingly, they didn't used the dog when searching. It's probably just trained to alert on command, but wouldn't know a drug stash or a bomb, if it tripped over it.
@@EfficientRVer Yes we had an issue in Kansas early on in my travel nursing career. We were traveling at night and my hubby was driving. Long story short, got pulled over. He got arrested and taken to the hospital for a blood draw. Then taken to the local detention center. I was able to get him out a few hours later. We went on to our next assignment but went back to get a lawyer. I wish I could have seen the look on the cop's face when the blood work came back negative for everything. Plus a lawyer in the room. Would have been priceless and picture worthy. We steer clear of Kansas also.
I have carry licenses from NY,PENN,FLA AND UTAH, you neglected to say which you guys have . Those are honored in 38 or so states plus those that are constitutional carry. I do a brief look at states I pass through , as we travel to a destination state . I bring a lock box , and stick to ten round mags IF I’ll pass through one of the few that requires that .
I figure I have a 3' reach so if I have a 24' motorhome I should have 8 guns, 1 every 3 feet, so one is always in reach, a solid mounted cannon on the back bumper, and a mortar launcher on the front, top middle should have a rotating gun turret.
there are certain municipalities and states that, if you had to drive thru, you must not stop under any condition else you fall under their laws and do not have the "in-transit defense" ...
New York is like that. If you stop for the night you are technically in violation. But then again that whole state just feels like you're about to get arrested for some obscure law that you don't know about. They are so special that their speed limit signs even are designed different than any other state.
@@ronvaughan8041 There are only 6 states I can drive to without driving through either New York or Canada. New York is the easier option, by far. Kansas is the only state I plan to never drive through again. They are crazy aggressive about making bogus traffic stops, giving bogus canine drug alerts, and then claiming probable cause for a bogus vehicle search. I'm glad I'm not a pothead, or they would have caught me when they mistook me for one. On 4/20, coming from Colorado. Lehto's Law had warned everyone about the "Kansas Two Step" stops, but you just don't believe cops can get away with that, until it happens to you. Despite being clean, and them finding nothing, I continued driving until I was in the next state. It sucks having your right trampled, but there were already federal court orders in place for them to clean up their act, but they just feel their "drove onto the shoulder line" (untrue, and I have lane assist/warning which never triggered) and "dog alerted to drugs" claims are a foolproof way to stop and search any vehicle they wish. Despite the stop being for driving concerns, and the search being for drug concerns, they did seem to spend a lot of time talking about looking for both drugs and weapons. Plus they were undoubtedly also on the lookout for bundles of cash to seize under civil asset forfeiture. The only good thing I'll say about them, is they didn't plant anything and didn't steal anything, and there was plenty of opportunity for both.
@@EfficientRVer Good to know about Kansas. I've been through there a couple of times but never had any problems. But it is a bit of an oddball state... Solid red but then some other quirks that don't add up.

Nope! Too many loose cannons in the country.
We agree on a national carry but we shouldn’t need to. Buy self defense insurance
@@lovematters7122 Criminals are going to be criminals and not care about any of the laws. When you impose laws upon the law abiding citizens, you are depriving us of our right and allowing the criminals to carry firearms while we are stripped of our defensive capability.
Where's the 'loose cannon' clause in the Constitution?
@@lovematters7122 "Shall Not Be Infringed"
Traveler's Guide to Gun Laws for all 50 states is book I take on every camping trip I go on.
Thank you for pointing this out. It’s crazy the lengths you have to go to just to stay alive and not be the victim. ❤️
I have a concealed carry permit from Colorado. I always review the laws in the states I am going to travel in. Then I comply.
At the end of the day, you are responsible for your safety and your family's safety do whatever it takes.😎
P.S. and completely off topic did anyone notice that the National Park Service is being sued for going cashless by three people from differing states that should be a interesting video once the ruling comes out
Always carry a good shovel or two with you. Problem solved.
Perfect

2 bags of garden lime per, and traceable proof is gone in 2 years. Except for teeth. One per river or lake crossed and they will never find enough to trace. Hillbilly law is very effective.

I had US Texas Law Shield and moved to Alabama. I had to go a different route. I now have USCCA.
Yeah, and those people in Nebraska (older couple at rest stop) wouldn't have been helped if their firearm was locked away while traveling. So stupid, these laws.
Screw the states!
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching
Smart move! Canada has gone communist
Uscca will not cover you if the cops decide to arrest you and charge you with a felony while they investigate your situation. I dropped them when I researched their small print.
Judged by 12 instead of carried by 6
Yes
I would have serious doubts about being judged by 12 in some states.
Why we do not have one Federal drivers license and one Federal set of gun laws is beyond me. Great video.
Because the federal government is full of very liberal people that’s why!
@@TonyBenton0728 I do agree with you on that. Pure stupidity!!!
Great to hear!
Besides having legal coverage in the worst case scenario, training with your firearm, especially tactical, is paramount to being prepared in the worst case scenario.
Love your channel Guns Guns Guns very good lots of info I have been carrying a hand gun since I was 24 and I am 64 I take it everywhere we have them in every room of our house we live in FL
USCCA has a LOT of loopholes in their contract. You might look for other groups for legal coverage.
We like Law Shield
CCW Safe The best coverage out their hands down
John, a lot of us agree that yes, it is better to be judged by 12 vs carried by 6.
@RV Odd Couple you are just great! I pray that you're both healthy and doing well and your daughter also.
I HAVE nothing to worry about federal detective I have id say I'm that plus I have federal CCW PERMIT on my DL and my occupation so I have nothing worried plus I have body camera
That was extremely informative and helpful! Thank You very much for taking the time to share this very important information with everyone! GOD Bless You All!
It all depends on what states you're going into. I have carry insurance and they help me know which states respect my right to carry.
Okay. For a while, I was not a fan of you guys. But i'm really liking the direction you're taking. I've resubbed. Let's see where you go.
Thank you
Thats why you get a concealed carry with reciprocal and stay with 7 max in crook County
I’m happy you talked about this very complex subject, traveling with firearms !
As a retired truck driver over the road in all 48 states it always bothered me not being able to carry protection.
It is absolutely ridiculous
@franxredhot 100 Facts never had a issue with carrying my hand gun in Michigan
The biggest danger to you is the government

Thanks for this valuable information guys!!
Thanks for this follow up video about crossing state lines with firearms and the challenges associated with doing so. Are you familiar with Byrna launchers which offer a less lethal self defense option and if so, what are your thoughts? Thanks!
I use a phone app called Legal Heat. It stays updated on the state-to-state laws regarding firearms and reciprocity regarding permits state-to-state.
We like USCCA, just expensive
But they cost a lot of $$$
Lmbo, did you know Michigan wants to make the AK47 is state gun!
USCCA has awesome training but they left two of their clients in the cold that we know of. I took advantage of their 100% return if not satisfied and went with CCW Safe.
Yet another great topic. And... very glad you offered up the research resources. Happy travels!
Fortunately, I've settled into a campground for a while where I have a guard chicken named Charlie that watches out for me.🐓
May God bless Charlie ❤
Awesome video thanks for posting it. Survival is the 1st nature act accordingly!
@@ronvaughan8041 I love the "25 mph unless otherwise posted" and then you see a 35 mph sign ... so when does it stop being 35? whenever they want ....
Since I have a permit to carry in all States, I feel for those who don't. Things are crazy out there, and best wishes to all.
Great video guys. I need to find out what are the 7 or 8 states you’d not go into with firearms. I will avoid those as well. Already seen 49 of 50. 48 of them trucking for 10 years. So it won’t bother me to not RV into those 8. Thanks!
Great advice! I have the middle level of USCCA. Anyone can use the app. Will look into the Law Shield too.
Right on!
We refuse to travel those states as well!!! We have had USCCA for about 15 years or more. And I’m over the laws banning my 2A RIGHTS!
By the way…. USAA will NOT cover you if you have an accidental firing, it happened to a lady from our church (former EMT & cop) where she had her gun go off with a live bullet instead of the training dummy in the chamber. Went through her apartment wall, struck the leg of a man sitting in his chair! 🤯
the key is to have no witnesses....
Fortunately, I live in Indiana where most surrounding state have Constitutional Carry as we do, with the exception of Michigan and the Draconian People's Republic of Illinois (my home state, but I escaped). I'm a USCCA member as well.
i just watched the last video an just asked this question myself ty for the info !
I switched to attorneys on retainer. And I had u s law shield seven years
The Travelers Guide to Firearms comes out every year and is a good source of information
CCW Concealed app tells you what states except conceal and carry.
I traveled for years before I retired and always had the top tier of USCCA. Nope that we are retired, we still have the top level of USCCA. The ads for gun owner protection have become so cut throat it has become annoying. Good video as many people don’t have a clue of how against the people our government is.
Too many have become complacent
I carry CCW SAFE. Good coverage.
Preach on. Welcome to the battles faced daily by the 2A community.
If your in Ohio out side the cities.. if a dog attack s you causes severe bodily harm .. the dog can make you disabled.. but doesn’t have to be put down .. Ohio has a first attack free law on dogs .. been thru it …. It sucks.. after my daughter was attacked.. the dog actually made it home before my daughter got out of the hospital 13 hours after the attack.. cops told me I’d do 10 years if I shot the dog being 20 feet from my front door.. on a chain…
Just carry a replica Remington 1860 black powder revolver. It’s not considered a firearm. Same thing for Springfield muskets. With practice you can fire 3 shots a minute.
Have you checked the acceptations with USCCA? I dropped them because they do not cover if you use your firearm in an area that prohibits firearms.
IF you're planning to use ANY tool to defend yourself, you need to plan to defend yourself from the ramifications of doing so, legally, civilly. Attorney's on retainer, US Law Shield, USCCA would be and are MY choices. And yes, I have and recommend using a combination of these services.
USCCA will not provide any help if you are charged with a criminal action even though criminal charges may be dropped later. That is what i believe based on everything i have read or watched.
Maybe I missed it, but did you list the sates you wont carry in.
Have y'all seen the non-lethal self defense pewpews? The ammo is balls of pepper spray or some other tear gas type substance. They also have some type of rubber balls. What's your thoughts on those?
I’m terrified about the rabbit hole if I had to dig for information regarding “everything”.
USCCA has been in the headlines lately for not being willing to defend their members, they are insurance. I personally like Attorneys On Retainer, not insurance but you are resting your own 2A law firm. No affiliation with either.
Hi there ! Just found your channel and subscribed....this is great information. I go out in the scrub quite a bit. Some of my friends laugh at me because im heavily armed when I go. I always tell them, its not the four-legged creatures im worried about, its the two-legged creatures that insist on getting creative...bad idea in my camp... the world is a dangerous place these days....thanks for the info..❤
I think it’s a need to know. If you don’t ask I won’t tell. I say make a secret compartment with a lock for your RV.
This video got me to final apply for a concealed carry permit.
I carry in Arizona and Nevada . I just don't go anywhere else.
Sounds like a plan! Maybe you'll take a chance and venture out into Utah someday. Once you're comfortable there, you could expand your range into Wyoming, if you dare.
I believe it is about protecting and providing. I’m not just out to protect and defend myself. I don’t want to be in a mass firearm crime with nothing to fight back with. I wouldn’t be able to stand by and watch. I will do everything with in my power to stop it. It important to level the field. 2A all the way. Safe travels and God bless…
