No bs just facts. Some people just talk to much and talk mostly bs but you can talk all the way throughout the video but not one bs.
Awesome man thank you I'm glad it's working out for you just imagine once it really starts going...😳😳 It might become more than your side gig... That's how I started... Just remember that..💯
Today I did a detail on the same exact Kia with the same problem with small cracks. I used 500 - 800 -3k but I didn’t get the super clear look so I doubled back to this vid so I can go back and get it done. Appreciate this video
Hey, thanks for sharing this video. I have also watched some of your videos and followed your tips and guides. Have you also done VW headlights? Particularly a Golf MK6? If so, may I know what sand grit when you do the first phase? Thanks in advance.
I just did an 05 Kia Optima and an 09 Kia Rondo. The factory clear coat on the headlights is unbelievably difficult to remove! I was honestly surprised that it wore off in the first place. Similar to these on your video, the upper 1/3rd of the clear coat was missing, however the remaining portion was a real PITA for sure.
It's definitely not pleasurable doing these lights.... I dread them every time... They're the worst made headlights in all vehicles to do headlightt Restoration on in my vast experience...
HOLY SHIT!! we must be brothers from a different mother, LOL I did a POS KIA sportage, yesterday, and it was the same thing, 2k and stock clearcoat, I used 220 too!! it laughed at the 320, LOL. I can't imagine trying to wet sand that, impossible.
Haha exactly.. what the people who do it by hand and wet sanding are telling you is they can't do every single headlight they're very limited there's no way you're getting that off by hand or wet sanding...💯
Hi HRP, thanks for this video. I have two questions for you as I am preparing to launch my sideline project. 1. Can you rate on a scale of 1-10 the difficulty in general of American made vehicles like Ford, GM, Chrysler/Dodge 2. If Kia is the most difficult, is Hyundai in same category? Thanks!
First of all an Escalade is kind of a pain in the ass is a really big light and typically they're a little harder than normal but not too bad... I learned as a young tech in the early 80's that anytime I have a customers car they are inconvenienced, my wealthy clientele were worried more of results than price as they would be without their car another day.
hey mate, I do not see people talking about hyundai headlights, I tried to do the method in a simple and small hyundai getz and I used 4 3m p500 for a single lens and didnt work, so I gave up as I didnt have the p320. Would be the best thing if you could do like a list with the harder lens that you`d start with the p320 and then to the softer. cheers mate
Wow Pro! Man great Job on those lights! I just wanted to ask about your spot repair and what sanding disc did you use to go back over it before using the tryzac pad. So basically you use the same method except using the 220 at the beginning and then start the normal process correct?
@@theheadlightrestorationpro … I think that’s the problem I’m having when sanding I’m pushing to hard and the scratches are to deep. It’s really not as easy as you make it look….lol
@grandmastert01 that's the secret..lol No... joking joking... But nine times out of 10 when people are having issues that is because of their pressure although I can show you all day on videos there's no Hands-On so I can't literally show you how to push and or how not to push.. just like princess you have to be very gentle... Question I wondered and I've never seen you do Infiniti Q45 headlights 2002 through 2006. Or the Nissan Cima / F50 2001 through 2010 they are both the same car just in Japan they don't have Infiniti
Also Pro! On the 2nd hardest light the Mercedes Benz are you recommending that you use the same process like your doing here using the 220 or something like 320 to start on hard lights like BMW or Benz? or is this just for 2k kind of clear Coating?
Even without the 2K you would have needed to start with a P P P P. ...."P" P220... JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW IT'S NOT A 220... Yes you probably would start with this but you always want to check first.. you should always check first to see if any of these lesser grits do anything before you just jump into something so aggressive.
My headlights are on a Nissan Note e11. They have a really awkward protrusion which I imagine would make them tough to do. Also the have a lot of tiny cracks in them like micro crazy paving so I think I need new ones.
@fernandobedoy7439 buy warranty my work forever... That's my work not the sealant... That being said I don't give a direct warranties.. I tell people how long it should last if they don't take care of it and if they do take care of it... If anything happens too soon I take care of it.. which it never does....
I'm starting to get those little bubbles too now. ugh. theyvlook like tiny lunar craters lol. like the size of a pin but it's still annoying since it's not perfect. trying to get to the bottom of it. might spray from a little farther now.
Can you always skip trizact p3000 and polish after p800 wetsand ? If so maybe for me trizact p1500 will be bit more foolproof. After 3m p800 foam pad (double stuff like you call it). Does anybody ever ask you to do their tail lights as well ? To just freshen them up. What coating would you use if used or just wax maybe ?
Okay that was about 15 questions real quick..lol As you text this I was just doing a pair of headlights and tail lights on a 1987 Thunderbird... If you skipped at 3000 trizact it will not be as clear and I will be a hell of a lot harder to clean up.. the tryzac does the power of a 1000 grit a 1200 grit of 1500 grit with 1800 grit a 2000 grit a 2500 grid all in one.. that's pretty hard to replace...
As a rule of thumb I have people pop the hood.. even when I needed or don't.. because it's less mess to clean up unless chances of mistakes far as messing up the hood some how... But basically the ones that by opening the hood expose the top of light... Some vehicles even if you open the door does not expose the top of the light...
You should make a video on how to remove deep p500 scratches , I have every single item you use and even use light pressure with both hands and still very faintly see p500 swirls , even after taking my time on the p800 stage , swap pads, and making sure they don’t get clogged. Been following for a while, they come out good but I want perfection 🙌🏽 thanks man
Also for the record I have p180, p220, p320 I’ve tried methods where I try to clear the p500 scratches with p320 and doesn’t work, just makes the scratches deeper now I’m at p180 debating how to get it out
You got to be doing something wrong.... You see mine on every single video.. you're doing something I'm not doing... If you're seeing scratches still applying too much pressure on the first stage but you're not cleaning up after yourself all the rest of the stages maybe not using the p800 enough or the 3000 trizact... I keep telling people if you see it after the finished product it was there before.. so you're not checking your work enough initially... I used to have a lot of issues with this when I was doing my best to spare products and milk every product I used instead of the spare no cost approach...
I don't use over p220.. you're telling me now that you're using stuff I don't use so will you have issues that's kind of on you.. P180 is way too corse to ever use on a headlight...(I say this in many videos never go past p220) As you see in every single one of my videos I don't have issues with this you have to figure out what YOU'RE doing wrong.. you can say up and down on this all day that you're doing exactly what I'm doing but obviously you're not because you would have the same exact outcome.. people often stop looking for what they're doing wrong because they're saying I'm doing exactly what you're doing but in reality once again if you were you would have the perfect outcome as I achieve....

No I've tried just about everything that one falls really short... It's very difficult to control on a lens with curves and dips and divots and fins and things like that... It doesn't give you the one dimensional grind.. it's very different and just holding the instrument feels very foreign when doing headlights.. believe it or not the best I've had of course is the drill although you have to have a mid-grade drill or low grade you cannot use a high-powered drill because of the torque in the RPM... Drills are much more focused.. for precision..
Makes sense. I tried using my DeWalt corded drill after the batteries for my 12V DeWalt went dead. That didn't go well!
