Just a gentle correction if I may? The run out year was 2002. You cannot describe why you love these things but you just KNOW it as soon as you get in one and drive it. I mean just look at these cars - absolutely great looking things and grafters as well. I run a 2001 P38 Bordeaux (on a 51 plate). It has 219,000 miles and one owner from new until I bought it in April. It was a stolen / recovered car up to be scrapped as the interior was wrecked but the bodywork and running gear were excellent. The 4 litre V8 had been replaced at about 110,000 miles with a Turner engine and I bought all the engine top end rebuild parts from them. I basically stripped everything apart and rebuilt with new or good s/h parts. the engine bay looks new. It had been ordered new with some added stuff like memory seats but was pretty much 'Bordeaux' spec. It was a major exercise to get it back to where I wanted it to be (ie factory condition) and its pretty much there. But you never stop tinkering ....
Thank You for this review, I did like the red one with the cream interior, have been looking quietly for a 2.5 like this, will get there in the end Thanks Again
@@davidrichards7722 hello David thank you for the comment. If you are in the UK I actually have a red DT county with the cream leather interior coming up for sale. Manual gearbox on springs.
What a great video and tribute to the P38. I have a 1999 Java Black 2.5 DSE with Lightstone interior (Piped black) on 18" Hurricanes. I have owned it over 20 years . Low mileage 113.000 miles. Mot Test yesterday (anniversary of the marque) Passed. I did a check on How Rare is my car today (29/09/24) According to DVLA only 11 Black 1999 Diesels on UK roads today. That data is vehicles with current Tax and Mot. It covers all of UK and includes Wales, Scotland and N/Ireland. So quite a rare beast. I am currently bringing it up to show standard. Keep up the good work ! Larry from Leicester ....
I have owned my P38 Diesel for 14 years now and I will never part with it. It has been totally reliable and the most comfortable Land Rover I have ever owned. Keep it maintained and it won't let you down.
Thank you for a very nice review of the P38. I have a 2002 registered 4.6 Vogue SE. It needs some work, but I do love it, although the fear of breaking down is something I’d forgotten about since selling my Discovery 4 about 5 years ago.
Do you have any plans to create a 'Celebrating 30 years' sticker that briefly appears at the end of this video? P38 enthusiasts around the world would surely want to put this sticker on their rear windows. Mine is 1996 Autobiography. With respect from Japan!
@@nigo225 hello there yes I do I am currently in the stage of processing samples so they should be available to buy in the next 8weeks or so. Thank you for your comment
