A great video Roland, and spot on with the frustrations, I can relate.
Frustration number 1, those big channels are already supported by sponsorship, so like you say it is just extra money to them. To a small creator a little support can be everything, and it isn't just the financial, but also the psychological support that matters.
Frustration number 2, you took the words right out of my mouth, except the simps part, I hadn't known the term before. Lately I have been getting comments to go watch a channel with scratchy shoes or something like that, and it is an insulting comment, mostly because it is such an opposite channel from mine. There has been a proliferation of the channels you are referring to over the last few years, women have discovered easy money for little or no talent or skill on platforms such as tik tok and then found out YT is a predominantly male audience so made the move. It is frustrating to work so hard and put out quality content and then see other vids blow up because of manufactured drama, conflict, and sex. I go through the should I quit or continue on a regular basis (hmm.. maybe it has something to do with the lunar cycle!!!).
Frustration number 3, Great videos do not equal great viewership, and it isn't just the algorithm but people as well that determine the numbers, when you get it figured out let me know.
Frustration number 4, it didn't seem to matter in the earlier years of YT but now regular uploads is important. What I find works somewhat is to record during the summer months and then edit when I have time but not publish. When I have a few videos ahead I release weekly, and keep editing more vids, until I complete a season. MY analytics shows my channel does better with regular publishing but the trend does continue after I finish weekly content for a couple months before I start seeing a decline in views etc. Also something I noticed ( I have been on YT a bit longer so I had a trend in my analytics to see this on) in April of 2020 I saw a sharp drop in viewership, subscriptions and revenue. Really sharp, It started in Aril and by mid June my numbers were 25% of what they had previously been. I really don't know what happened but it is strange it corresponds to a large world event and the corresponding accusation made by some that big tech may have been doing things under the table that were less then altruistic.
Frustration number 5, Yep, every time! Upload, receive copyright claim, file dispute. YT is much like our governments guilty until we prove our innocence, frustrating and time consuming. But yes music can add so much to a video!
Positives, right on. Your attitude of positivity is awesome, and the positivity flows both ways! We build each other up, isn't that so much better then tearing each other down? It feels good to contribute to the world with something positive, keep on doing it.

The thing I noticed when I don’t upload for a while is that my channel gets a boost then.
So it’s pushing video’s harder out. The moment I upload a video then that’s all gone.
Pretty weird he? It motivates not to upload weekly lol.
But yeah. TH-cam is a difficult game. Just do whatever you like, forget about what people and TH-cam etc wants. And don’t expect too much of it.
I earn more with affiliate links then with the ads revenue. But a universe level away from calling it a living, so yeah… it’s just “fun” and for me a great learning curve in how to edit etc.
In the end it’s probably all worth it I believe.
(Because of TH-cam I can work as a editor for television now, but I don’t want to :)
I already work for tv as a sound engineer, and that’s what I prefer :)
@@TheRideWithRoland It really is hard to understand why the views get a boost sometimes and not others. It is always a good laugh when some expert says the secret is just to make good vids.
I never have figured out affiliate links, something I should look into I guess.
Editing, and filming with an end product in mind, is such a great way to keep the mind active. I definitely have learned a lot since my very first vids, and the learning continues! I sure wish I had even a fraction of your knowledge and skill that you have as a sound engineer, I struggle so much with my audio. But again I keep learning.

Yeah it’s a bit cold now but we have a fairly warm winter. So every week I ride a few times, but that’s also because I don’t have a car and not really a choice then 😃(well, I have a car but long story 😂)

What ever TH-cam decides, I like all your content , especially the Vietnam tour , just like "normal people " do , you show us all the things you have to deal with on your trip, and not only the things YT wants you to show. Great video as usual Roland. It is frustrating to try to understand exactly what the algorithm wants. For example, if I upload two shorts on the same day the view count ends up being low. If I upload one short every other day the views go up into the 1-2 thousand range. Really weird. I have 150+ videos with over 15k views per month, but I have not yet passed the 1,000 subscriber mark. Because of that, TH-cam doesn’t have to share any ad revenue with me, so sad. 😢 Also like you said the small TH-camrs are the ones that need support the big ones are very well off. My son watches some gaming TH-camrs that have 3 million plus subs and while they live stream extra money is being donated at an alarming rate $5 here, then $10 bing bing bing. It’s nuts!!! But can’t blame them for leveraging their position. Hopefully this year I can break the 1k subscribers mark and start raking in that $10 a month 😛
Yeah. The 1000 sub will come, no worries.
Just try to make a video that’s “special”. Like a test from something. And maybe ask for subscription. I don’t really do that anymore because it annoys me when a video start with that in the first 30 seconds.
But subs are not that important. Views are :) so you are good on that point! 😃
Shorts can really lift up the channel, but in my case i don’t like shorts. TH-cam is TH-cam and should not be some kind of TikTok in my opinion. When people are used to shorts the long content comes in a danger zone then 😬
Maybe I will make a short because I see something funny, but as for now, mmm I stick to the long content 😬

I run for 25 years a studio (doing recordings and mostly for television) and in the weekends I play live :)

Although I'm subscribed and hit the bell notification I don't seem to get notified when you post. This vid came up on the YT homepage of suggested contents. Great earnings info. Viet Nam, though, many things not interesting; flat footed tiny people. Bamboo is crazy stuff; burns like gasoline; throw some dry bamboo on a campfire and the flames leap up head high +/-.

I like to watch female ADV rider's videos because they often give another perspective... but until now I have only found 7 or 8 that have really good content and quality.
But I often see the comments you talk about... very often... too often... seldom they actually comment on the content in a video, just how "lovely" the female look or how amazingly brave she is etc. etc.
I just can’t watch it. But that’s because of the comments under it 😂
I think I must make a video with the content and TH-camrs I follow and watch. I think that will be a big surprise. Complete different stuff then what most people would expect 😂😃
@@TheRideWithRoland - I have just stopped reading the comment on those videos... even on the few male ADV riders I follow...
I only look for content and mostly nonmainstream content.. (Unless it is great content and no body focus).
And regarding the "boobs-comment" in your video, I do think I know what female rider you were thinking of... I stopped watching her after 2 or 3 videos because of her videos always focused on her "better parts"... it get boring really fast...
@@StoltHD yeah, TH-cam was suggesting that girl like crazy. Some travel video but I only saw 2 “hills” the whole video.
She clearly figured out what worked and so all the thumbnails were focused on her body instead of the content.
And it’s because of the simps that shit works , like bigtime..
@@TheRideWithRoland - yeh... but at the same time it is great that woman is proud to be woman and is not afraid to show their femininity and don't want to hide the fact that they are females, but to many use it that the wrong way...
But, then... more respect to the few that actually create great content and just are themself...

Het gaat automatisch die claims. De software daar herkent de muziek. TH-cam scant een video gelijk na het uploaden, bijv voor scheld woorden, voor de ondertiteling en daar draait gelijk een soort van Shazam mee 😬
Super irritant is het Maarja ik ben er nu na 100 video’s wel aan gewend 😂😬
In alle video's die ik ooit heb gemaakt (nee, dat zijn er zeker geen honderden) heb ik nog nooit een audioclaim gehad. Okee, wel een paar van een niet nader te noemen Rammstein tribute, maar gek genoeg word de opbrengst daarvan gedeeld(???). Mijn tip: gebruik de (gratis) music-library van TH-cam. Staat best veel tussen en het scheelt dus blijkbaar een hoop gedoe achteraf.
Ja dat deed ik in het begin maar envato heeft naast (betere) nummers ook stock video’s etc.
Bij mij praten ze niet over verdelen 😂

@@Meifesto ik heb hier nog een goede pc over. Met amd ryzen erin. Had ik een Hackintosh van gemaakt maar kreeg die niet goed werkend. Dus maar omgetoverd tot Windows machine. Werkt goed. Maar ik werk echt liever op Mac… dus vandaar de MacBook en sinds vorige week dan de Mac Studio.

What happened to making local riding content..? You not making much.
I like watching simple biker videos, like your earlier stuff. You have a lot of bikes but don’t film much with them..??? Go back to basics and make videos for fun, don’t worry what others are doing, you seem too focused on what are people are doing or making money.
No. Not Al all in fact. If I was hunting for the great succes I would stick to only one kind of content :) I make what I want to make.
And for now it’s those travel episodes. After the Vietnam series I have 2 more big trips I did last year 😬 😃 so yeah. It will be mostly that until something else pops up in my mind what I want to create :)
But I had fun making this video 😂
