I commented on part 1. I also remember reading that Hades had at one point been online to restart once or twice. I believe almost everything besides the timing of the rebirth of humanity
I have a theory to run by you as to what the mysterious signal was that gaia received that kinda ruined everything. I believe that it was another A.I. that was made to be a copy of faro. after he killed the board and destroyed apollo, he decided to save himself. as indicated by his own personal bunker, he learned how to make an A.I. copy of himself. Unfortunately, he was mentally deranged at this time so that's the copy we got stuck with. No doubt he owned a satellite at some point. I think faro uploaded his consciousness to it to kinda preserve himself safely, just in case. while that A.I. was all alone in space seeing things happen on the surface. well overtime it became more crazy and demented and longed for..."others" that's why when it attacked gaia, the other A.I.s were made to give it friends if you will. that way it wouldn't be alone. all of this comes from the simple fact, he missed elizabeth.
Sylens is, I think, just slightly more dangerous than Ted Faro. A person who is interested only in their image is terrifying, but one who only prizes knowledge, above others, above the world, above safety? That is a threat high enough for this new world to fear. Still, Ted Faro was a monster.
Knowledge can be good or bad, but ignorance and ego are pretty much condemned to always be harmful. With Sylens, my response is, "I understand, I do not agree." With Faro, it's more like, "I would put you in the ground with a smile if you weren't already dead."
@@bthsr7113 Knowledge is totally good or bad, but how we pursue knowledge? Well, we can do it carefully, recklessly, kindly, cruelly, thoughtfully, heedlessly. Ted Faro should be in the ground a million times over, and HADES should not be allowed to roam free, but once again slotting it into a Horus? Sylens is being reckless and heedless in his search for knowledge, while still being very very smart. That combination, just like Faro's original path, are fraught with bad outcomes but the problem is, Sylens more or less knows what he's doing. Ted . . . first he just wanted the best payday, to be unbeatable. Then he wanted us to forget him if he couldn't be the hero. A person who knows what they're doing and still persists is, in my opinion, more dangerous than a person who didn't know what they were doing in the first place, because if they want they can do more direct damage, instead of just potential, random chaos.
What if Sylens is the clone of Faro? To me it would make sense to me because it seems that the story of HZD has a theme of duality, destruction and creation following each other. Sylens is the opposite side of the coin of Alloy. Although, Sylens might be less than of a genetic match to Faro in comparison to Alloy and Elizabeth.
The Shadow Carja effortlessly massacring the other newly minted braves might also have something to do with bringing an autocannon to a bow and spear fight. Just saying.

@@TiptoeTheTank I got it today by algorithm, and as a chronic binge watcher, had to watch both videos back to back, subbed as soon as I was halfway through the first video, now I will go watch all the videos from the games I love. You are doing a great service to these games, and a beautiful voice as well.
Another sub from a random algorithm recommendation. Was always interested in this game bit never had the time. Awesome couple of videos, you make grasping the storyline very easy!
That's a nice way to go. How about a prequel putting you in the boots of a soldier in the last days of humanity? Fighting endless waves of Faro robots? Just spitballin' here! Great series either way!
Given that they said he even travelled into The Forbidden West to hunt these people, I am hoping that there are references (Even if it's just audio logs) of his time there in the Forbidden West game I am so looking forward to this game!!!
You know, I've played the game several times and k love it. But watching this video is the first time has occurred to me that a focus recognises people genetically. And further more, that the focus gave her the same access that Elizabet would have had. Obviously the facilities would have recognised her, but it explains why Aloy can use her focus in a much more sophisticated way.
Teresa was one of the MVP of the game (so underrated), and by far the smartest person among all the NPCs, even Sylas or Aloy. She is old, traditions bind her, can't operate machinery, and yet she is the one knowing what to do. That's incredibly impressive.
Still blows my mind the sheer depth of the story, characters, and lore of this game. The fact that even after skipping a lot of side-story you still needed ~2 hours of video to explain it all really illustrates my point.
I did not expect this kind of quality when I randomly stumbled upon this channel. The way you told this story elevated it so much. Your voice, the words you use fits perfectly. If I was a wealthier man I would donate to your patreon but all I can contribute is a sub. Keep up the great work!
So glad to see someone digging deep into this game's story! I like the world building more than the characters, though I do really like Aloy and Sylens. I feel like the sequel may throw in some curve balls about the "ancients" - maybe Dr. Sobeck wasn't so perfect, and maybe Ted wasn't JUST the worst human ever. I'm personally really hyped for Forbidden West, even if the lead writer has moved on to a new company. Fun trivia: John Gonzalez, writer for HZD, had also written for Fallout: New Vegas, particularly the DLC centered around tribes. One thing I find fascinating is that some ideas from the cancelled Fallout 3 (codenamed 'Van Buren') ended up recycled for New Vegas...but I believe this ALSO applies to HZD since Gonzalez worked on both projects. In particular, the 'Twin Mothers' from this cancelled Fallout game strongly resemble the Nora of HZD.
While I dont think there will be curve balls about Sobeck and Ted (well). I'll think we'll be closer to finding out who messed with Gaia before HZD picked up or even what caused that Swarm to go crazy in the 1st place.. Or that The Odyssey might not have actually blown up.
I hope that, if Ted Faro is brought back one way or another, that it is only for the purpose of giving us the opportunity take out the existential frustration of removing the entire history of humanity on him. Physically.
Personally, I'm betting we don't see Faro himself, but his clone descendent thanks to a twisted version of the Lightkeeper project, totally indoctrinated to the party line of believing himself to be the reborn saviour of humanity.
This is by far the most gripping open world game I've ever played! Forbidden West is just around the corner and I can not wait to play it. Already preordered for PS5. Thanks for the recap!
These two episodes were just LOVELY!!! On-point jokes, perfect voice acting and how you actually relate to characters. Played this game a year ago and it was to hear you tell the story! Thanks
"Wherever that she would go, Rost, promised that he would follow." As someone who played this game countless of time, I gotta admit, that line made me tear up quite a bit.
Thanks for the kind words and tip for Tip! I meant to reply to this earlier. Tip started to do Forbidden West on release but she just wasn't feeling the characters or gameplay so it was put on hiatus. It's still on the "to-do" list but it's been so long that we might just wait until the PC release.
Okay I just thought of something. The removing rost spirit and making him a deathseeker. What if the ritual is actually like what was used in the Lightbringer protocol? Now Rosts DNA is stored in the mountain.
That would be impossible. They didn't have access to Eleuthia-9, it was completely sealed shut. Well, except for the brief moment a caretaker robot brought Aloy out and sat her on the ground to be discovered. Then it permanently resealed until she grew up and eventually restored the alpha registry. On top of that the Nora were forbid from entering anyway. As to why she's 99.47% instead of a higher percentage, it's always been an interesting question among people that know the lore of the game (as well as what exactly caused the "glitch" and sissy the random signal that GAIA received). While they were forbid from genetic engineering before the FARO plague and wanted normal humans to repopulate the Earth - GAIA could've decided to do it anyway. Making her physically enhanced to ensure she survived to end Hades.
@@ericalbers4867 I agree GAIA probably did some tweaking based on feats only she had in-game. Based on the security protocols in place GAIA understood they had some leeway with how much of the genetic code could be adjusted for their plan to work. The original plan was to do Forbidden West on release, but it sort of got pushed to the wayside. However with the recent announcement of the complete edition coming to PC, I'll be doing a full playthrough capture for her on release. Nothing is guaranteed, but it is on the list 👌
@@Viryl_TV In my opinion, don't hold out for the PC version. There's no guarantee it'll be a perfect port at launch, and not much people has a high-end PC like the PS5. Thank you so much. You did a great justice to capturing and re-telling this story. I put many hours into HZD and sank completely into the world and lore. You managed to cover it all wonderfully. You've certainly earnt a subscription.
Both of these lore videos were REALLY good, thank you for making this!! As someone who was never able to play this game but always wanted this was awesome!
Dear madam, I want to say you did an absolutely amazing job at this, and the previous, video you made. You explained the lore very well, in an manner that's easy to understand. You added fitting music, which made the difference between the peaceful parts and the exciting parts even better. You have a very nice voice to listen to. The videos had great visuals. All in all you did an absolutely fabulous job at the videos! I've subscribed and will watch way more of your content. Please keep it up!
The only let down for me was the defence mission at the end. They speand all game 'bigging up' that oseram cannon that brought down the walls of meridian, and I was expecting like, 105mm guns salvaged from the old world the size of a house lined up on the wall. Kind of a let down that it was just another heavy weapon you could pick up. You expect me to believe those little guns bround down the walls of Meridian? I feel like they did the Oseram dirty with this game. We never really got to see much of them except in Freeheap.
I’ve binged a load of your videos this morning at work almost as podcasts/audiobooks! These are amazing and so well constructed, I could and have listen to them for hours. Keep up the great work

Been watching quite a few HZD retrospectives in preparation for the new game. This one really stands out. The way you chose to tell the story is outstanding. Thank you.
wow, i really adore your style of video. I am currently almost finished with Horizon Zero Dawn and this is by far the best recap of what happened and is happening. You definitely deserved a sub today!
Long format, no fluff, soothing voice. This chick is awesome! Subbed! Being honest in saying that I'm not gonna watch everything right away. For the simple reason that I still have to play a lot of these games. I absolutely loved to be caught up on the story and lore of HZD though. I've finished the game twice, but when it came out. The lore of this game is truly amazing.
Just found this channel through this video series. Great lore video! HZD is one of my favorite games of all time and you captured the magic of this game’s great storytelling!! ❤️
Hail the algorithm for sending this channel my way! You are an incredible storyteller, I’ve never even played this game but was totally enthralled. Thank you for all the work you put in to making this/these videos, I ran to the subscribe button.
I swear Horizon would make an amazing movie. By far my favorite video game lore of all time. I've never hunted down and read every bit of optional in-game lore like I did with this game.
My sister suggested ur channel for watching while I work. Subbed after the second Resident evil video and am binging all this amazingness that is left. Thanks for this tiptoe!
Finished the game once again last night and am watching this tonight, set up for a beautiful weekend with Forbidden West! This is such a great recap of all the lore and is getting much more excited!
Your content is fantastic! I’ve played many of the games you cover many times and parts of your narrative flushed out things I completely missed and tied the stories together into perfect little packages. Well done! Please keep it coming.
I’m so happy the algorithm sent me to your channel, I’ve been watching lore videos for games that are coming out soon(halo, god of war, etc) and this is a fantastic horizon lore video. You got my sub and now I’ll start binging your channel
FINALLY get to play forbidden west so I'm using your lore videos to update me on Zero Dawn! These are the best I've seen (especially adore your Hellblade one. Can't wait for your video on that sequel!)
What is this channel? It was randomly in my feed. I tapped it because Horizon is a great game then I hear this voice. Its like a massage to my ear drums... A sailor lured by the sounds of the sirens at sea. I'd be dead, dashed on the rocks. Well done!
I always like the small things writers put in these post-apocalyptic stories where more primitive people try to piece together what advanced technology means. Like when Aloy is scanned by the vault that created her and it said Alpha Registry corrupted. The vault meant computer data corruption but the Matriarch interpreted it as some kind of spiritual corruption
I have enjoyed this series on Zero dawn so much that I am compelled to write a comment. Thank you all for such an informative and entertaining experience. As good as if not better than an audiobook version! Cheers!!
Just really want to say THANK YOU! I confess that even tho I loved HZD (platinum +100%) i never payed much attention to the story, killing the machines was enough for me haha, and wow, the story is actually amazing, so deep and all, you work is awesome, thank you very much for this❤️

that ending made me cry three times now, once on the first playthrough once on new game + and now even in a youtube video its just to damn good. i also agree with leaving out the post credit scene where silence captures a part of hades.
GOD!, Your writing is so good!, I love it!, This game is my favourite from this generation. Nostalgic tears have been shed through your narration. Thank you very much!
I'm glad you liked it. Thank you for your kind words!
Its a shame videos of Hzd don't get more views, hopefully with Forbidden west it brings millions more fans to the series
It will. If it wins GOTY, these lore videos are going to explode. Or just when the game releases, the hype is insane.
I think the women who pulled Rost back over the line was the outcast Greata who Aloy takes care of in the beginning of the game
Can I say that your voice is extremely clear and soothing, perfect for an extended video where most of it is just listening to a long story.
I just watched these two videos. I can't wait for the next one on the forbidden west or the DLCs. I realize this is 2 years old but I'm still hopeful. your voice is perfect and engaging
Ultimately, go with what works for you now, PS5 is a fantastic choice for enjoying Horizon Forbidden West and I mean the best pc that you can play horizon.
Faro sounds like that guy who refused to take a history course in university
I saw your part one and it was amazing! Had no idea the game was that deep. I soooo badly want to watch the Control lore but if I do i wont finish the game :') THESE VIDEOS ARE MESMERIZING
You are an amazing storyteller. I was brought to tears with your retelling of events, and I hope you continue your masterful skill to create more work such as this.
Man I'm so hyped for the next game going in with all this knowledge is awesome
Keep up the great work
You made this old lady cry woman!!!
Thank you
I am so glad I found this channel your storytelling of video games makes them into a more expansive and thrilling world than watching playthroughs. I am almost addicted
Thank you for the series! I couldn’t help but see the low view count for such amazing work so I have to support you through Patreon. Thank you!
Sylens being voiced by Lance Reddick was god tier choice.
Literally finished the game for the first just last night! Omgeeee can’t wait for Forbidden West! 🥰
Been watching quite a few HZD retrospectives in preparation for the new game. This one really stands out. The way you chose to tell the story is outstanding. Thank you.
I really love how truly in-depth everything you do is I’ve only watched a few videos but I’m sure I’ll be back again for more
This is one of the most quality lore reviews I have ever, ever listen to. OUTSTANDING!
wow, i really adore your style of video. I am currently almost finished with Horizon Zero Dawn and this is by far the best recap of what happened and is happening. You definitely deserved a sub today!
Every single video of yours nearly makes me cry in the end even if it's a game I haven't played. It's so well put together
Super in love with your storytelling. I love this franchise so much as well. Can't wait to see if you do a continuation into The Forbidden West.
22:37 Helis killed Rost so hard that frames start dying too
@@Viryl_TV yeah the performance issues in PC version were unexcusable
I'm thankful to have found this channel, thorough work you have done with your research into producing these videos!
Once again, fantastic video. Thanks for making it, this is defo one of my favourite games when it comes to lore!!!!!
Thank you for checking it out!
RIP Sylens ❤️🧡💛💚💙
I swear Horizon would make an amazing movie. By far my favorite video game lore of all time. I've never hunted down and read every bit of optional in-game lore like I did with this game.
My sister suggested ur channel for watching while I work. Subbed after the second Resident evil video and am binging all this amazingness that is left. Thanks for this tiptoe!
Outstanding, thank you so much! And give your sister a big ol' thumbs up for me. 😉
Here's some fuel for the algorithm
Finished the game once again last night and am watching this tonight, set up for a beautiful weekend with Forbidden West! This is such a great recap of all the lore and is getting much more excited!
This two part series was so good thank you! Filled in so many holes I missed while playing through the game
Thy almighty algorithm has brought me here for an unknown purpose. But I ain’t complaining. Great Video! :p
Ay me neither
Just found this videos, I played the game a year ago and just started it again, I love to get remembered about the nice story. Well made videos.
Your content is fantastic! I’ve played many of the games you cover many times and parts of your narrative flushed out things I completely missed and tied the stories together into perfect little packages. Well done! Please keep it coming.
Sometimes random recommended videos produce a gem like this. I watched part 1, subscribed, then this part 2, and now on to another one of your videos~
I can't wait to see your video about Forbidden West.
Absolutely breathtaking world and lore. Thanks for this
Absolutely amazing story. How have you not done a Forbidden West video?
Though nothing is guaranteed, you'll be happy to hear that it's on the to-do list once the complete edition drops on PC. 👌
My favorite game and you tell part one perfectly! Now onto part two!
I had to buy this game after watching these two videos. Thank you
well done. i knew most of this. but hearing it all at once and in this format. very well done.
I’m so happy the algorithm sent me to your channel, I’ve been watching lore videos for games that are coming out soon(halo, god of war, etc) and this is a fantastic horizon lore video. You got my sub and now I’ll start binging your channel
Wow dishonored, prey and so much more! Looks like my weekend is going to be full
Nicely done!
You've got a good voice for storybooks. More of these summaries please.
An incredible breakdown of the lore, I just got here from Part 1, it's thoroughly entertaining.
Thank you. Watched both even though I've already completed the game twice. Very well done. Again, Thank You!
Well done!
That freaking ending. First thing come to my mind was, How the hell I going to kill that monstrosity (Huge machine)
Thank you for intercutting the timeline! I could not wrap my brain around the timing of Gaia, Aloy, and other “current events”! This was amazing!
I am so glad I found this channel!
You are very good at speaking clearly, with expression. I would not be surprised to hear your voice on future games. Very impressed!
Damn that was good better than an audiobook
I always like the small things writers put in these post-apocalyptic stories where more primitive people try to piece together what advanced technology means. Like when Aloy is scanned by the vault that created her and it said Alpha Registry corrupted. The vault meant computer data corruption but the Matriarch interpreted it as some kind of spiritual corruption
This is one of my favorite games. You do a great job narrating it. Thank you.
I like how the algorithm brought most of us here. I am here to boost that numbers
and syles is a clone of someone that worked in a particular hotel that accommodated a particular sort of people. :D
rost has better parenting skills than most irl parents
Horizon was my game of the year in 2017. I knew half of the lore in this game. So glad I found this channel. This young woman did an extraordinary job
These narrations are on point! Both content wise and execution!
I love your channel great lore videos!!!
Thanks so much!
Thank you for this ☺️
I’ve completed the game 3 times and still didn’t know a lot of these story points. Well done.
Thank the algorithm because this was amazing and I never would have found it otherwise
Great summary and video!
I have enjoyed this series on Zero dawn so much that I am compelled to write a comment. Thank you all for such an informative and entertaining experience. As good as if not better than an audiobook version! Cheers!!
Damn, I could listen to your lore forever.
This channel is going to pass a million subscribers one day.
You're really good at this, these 2 videos were so good
Just really want to say THANK YOU!
I confess that even tho I loved HZD (platinum +100%) i never payed much attention to the story, killing the machines was enough for me haha, and wow, the story is actually amazing, so deep and all, you work is awesome, thank you very much for this❤️
I beat this master piece 3 times lol and 100% everything. This is why I'm a play station gamer and love play station games so much. The quality of their games is amazing. Can't wait for forbidden west.
So worth it. Ty for this
