She was my best friend. She had a great sense of humor. She always was there for anyone. Sam was always giving. Very compassionate. He had plans. I was there 2 weeks prior to their murders. I miss them both everyday.

Dan Wozniak was the director of a musical (Oklahoma) I was in in a children's musical theater group. He was dating my friend at the time. Another friend in the musical ended up taking dance classes with and befriending Julie at OCC. Needless to say, this event shook us to the core. What's scary is that NOBODY suspected this---he was known for his smiley, friendly demeanor. We learned that you never truly know a person. RIP Sam and Julie, and prayers for their families.
I've seen this story a couple of times. And it sadden me everytime that I see it. Sam survived war, PTSD, getting his life together and was betrayed by a "friend". And not only that Julie's murder was just a side note. Truly a tragic story.
@Brittany That's how these sociopaths get away with such horrible crimes. Sometimes even police and psychiatrists are fooled by these people. It's frustrating when you're the victim and trying to tell someone in authority how this person abused you. Most people go with what others think of the person, not just that one person who everything believes is just trying to smear the charming person's name. That's how victims get blamed.

I've seen this case on several different crime shows and it breaks my heart every single time. The fact that the neighbor tried to make it look like Sam killed her is just pouring salt in an already infected and very painful wound.
My step dad was a Seal. Retired. He is the most kind, patient, upstanding man. He married my mother who had 4 kids when he was 19. He raised me like I was his own. He still emails me daily to make sure I’m ok. He’s my dad.
Being that he was a Seal, it was all military. He went back to school and went all the way (he was only 45 when he retired, serving 8 more years past 20). Now he is a PTSD therapist for the military.
Bc we were surrounded by the military & my dad was against us dating men in the military, we saw the mental issues a lot of them carry.
He said that if a guy volunteers to go into danger then there’s something wrong. There’s a diff btwn wanting to fight for ur country, protect ur fellow soldiers vs this guy. Since we lived near Norfolk, men would want to settle down so quickly and I think it was due to loneliness and homesickness. But it was very uncomfortable.
I also noticed those who get out always need to remind others they were in the military. I used to manage the biggest musicians money but I don’t talk about it nonstop at my future jobs. It’s a life some won’t let go of.
This guy had warning bells. Women, my father said any man who was in war-esp the young ones, and u want to date them, if they don’t get consistent therapy then u should reconsider.
Wow...thanks for sharing that tidbit. Not a lot of people talk about PTSD and would rather ignore or get defensive about it. Bless those men and women who enter that line of work (soldiers/police), but there needs to be more support in those jobs to address this damage. I always knew in general that I would stay away from those in the military or law enforcement because those are mentally traumatic professions, but your specific points helped me truly realize why. If you remember any more words of wisdom from your dad regarding this or insights from your own experience, please let us know.

Married a guy in the army. Thought I knew him since we were friends before he served his time in the army. Only married for a month and now getting an annulment. I saved myself. Best decision ever. Looking back at the relationship there were many red flags

Within those two weeks we got married and it was only good for two days. After that he would fight about anything and I found out he was a manipulative narcissist.

I had an ex who was in the military with ptsd. I would gently wake him up to calm him down his heart would be racing so fast , sweating like he was in a nightmare.. Happend most nights

💯 I had a weird moment recently. I’m a travel nurse and I made friends with a nice Medical Assistant at my job and she asked me questions and I casually mentioned my weekly housing stipend. Anyway a few weeks later I go to her house upon her invitation and her husband mentions my stipend like “wowww that’s a lot of money!” I WAS SO SHOCKED. NEVER AGAIN. I was literally just sharing info. because I believe we should help each other but that freaked me out that she would tell her husband and then he was acting weird about it smh

I just clicked on this because I like true crime. I didn’t know it was this case. I knew Dan. We weren’t best friends but we went to high school together and had been in plays. In fact he directed me in a play about hiding a dead body…
Before he was arrested, but after he had killed them, I ran into him. We caught up because it had been a few years and he said he wanted to hangout soon. We hugged. He gave me a kiss on the cheek. I found out the next day what he’d done. I threw up.
He was both the light of the room, the kindest funniest guy who you would never suspect had a bad bone in his body. Honestly just a big dork. Harmless. Nerdy. Innocent. and at the same time, so high strung it wouldn’t surprise you if someone said he’d snapped and gotten into drugs or something. Like he felt like he was always performing, not in a creepy way but like Robin Williams. Someone who was trying hard to push his real feelings down.
Don’t get me wrong I’m sick and have no sympathy for him. At all. But I always had this fake confidence like I would be able to see a bad person a mile away and I could trust my own intuition.
What he did shook me and my family. He’d stayed at my house. We’d kissed (in the context of a play only) It just shakes your foundation to know someone kind, funny and loving could ever flip like that. Makes you feel permanently unsafe.

SMH these comments UGH. what happened was sam got murdered by a man named Daniel who was getting married in 2 days so Daniel could steal all his money for a trip for his honeymoon. Daniel cut his body up and left it to rot at a theatre. Then he messaged Julie on sams phone to get her to come over, murdering her, trying to make it look like Sam did to cover his tracks.
Both of them were murdered.

I'm Asian, moved to LA to do acting and modeling for a few years but ended up loving the legal field after doing a consulting project. Just because someone is getting the "usual" degrees doesn't mean they didn't follow their life's calling/passion. Hope those young, aspiring doctor, lawyers or engineers won't doubt their career choices just because someone "criticized" you for being "so Asian and typical".

The actor who lived downstairs is the killer, he killed Sam first in the theater, then Julie at the Sam's apartment to make it seem like Sam committed murder and went on the run. He then dismembered Sam and buried him. His motive was that he needed to steal money from Sam for his wedding and honeymoon; such a shallow reason to take a life.

So sad. If she had call Sam's phone back to talk on the phone she wouldn't be able to because he was already murdered. Sadly she didn't call and just went straight to the apartment where she was ambushed and murdered. The killer only texted her. If I got a text like that sounds like suicide. I would have called the police and make sure they were there before I got to the apartment. I don't want to find his dead body and be blamed for murder. Also need to make sure he could get the help he need like going to a mental ward. What if Sam was losing it an attack her if she was by herself. If short of calling the cops at least went with one of her brothers or another friend to be a witness or backup should something get out of control. Just going it alone regardless of what the text asked is dangerous and too risky. At the very least tell one person where and when you are. Just lie and say you didn't tell anybody but do it anyways to cover your ass just in case. Plus it's a red flag when somebody says don't tell anyone. Maybe don't tell my family or dad but not anyone. That is highly suspicious. So what if someone else knows that shouldn't matter. Alarm bells going off.
This has nothing to do with the military. Sam was framed for Julie's murder by his neighbor, Daniel. The neighbor needed to steal Sam's money to pay for his wedding and honeymoon.
First of all, please do not bash out the military. At least you should feel safe almost every night that there is no bomb. Families in other countries fear of being bombed every night. If you have not served in the military and have gotten deployed to war, please do not talk as if you know what they are going through. I am married to an Army veteran that just came back from his 3rd tour in Afghanistan. He has PTSD and yes, he will need help a lot of help. That does not mean that they are bad people. We should be thanking them for their service. You do not know what they see and deal with every day over there. I am always afraid that I will not get to see him when they're on their missions because sometimes I do not hear from him for weeks.
The guy who murdered Sam and Julie in this video is a normal non-military man who is an actor. Again, he only needed money to pay for his wedding and honeymoon.
