Would really appreciate a side by side comparison, but right off the bat the image quality and more importantly image stabilization really smooths out the shot. I was already buying one, but this certainly reaffirms my beliefs that it's a must for motovloggers :) thanks RJ!

Looks good... can't tell if it's really a ton better than the Hero4 because the hero4 was pretty good in bright daylight too... have you done a side-by-side? Love the burble of the Beemer... don't love the traffic you were in (that looks pretty terrible to me).

There is no huge difference.. i could even say that there is no difference between GP4 and GP5
It's the added features they changed, not the video quality. GoPro made this very clear during their product launch event. I wish they had improved the quality as well, but it appears there wasn't much they could do and keep the price where it is. For my use, the simple fact that it's waterproof to 30meters without a bulky housing is enough to upgrade. When you add the fact it has voice control and a touch screen now......it's a no-brainer for me.
The real big difference is that the 5 black can do 4k30 fps and 1080p 120 fps. But that isnt meant for RJ because that take's up massive amounts of storage and 60fps into slomotion is enough for him. For that 5 second clip in every 10 video's RJ doesnt need super slomo.
1080p is 1080p and TH-cam encoding will always be the weak link. 4k video still looks better when 1080p is selected than videos uploaded at 1080p. I would be interested in the side by side comparison.
Would be interesting to see a test of the Sony X3000 from you. It has an interesting lens shifting technology that gives a very good stabilising effect.
should also have a better sound too, but at high speeds no action camera is going to perform well

Hey RJ, question. What makes pick the KTM over the BMW and vice versa when you leave the house? I want a supernaked and I found a smoking deal on a '15 1290 R in black, just like yours. From the reviews and also what you said, it's just simply outstandingly comfortable which is very important to me as I'm 6'0 tall. I see you filter a lot, is it an easy bike to manoeuvre at low speed? It looks bulky but you handle it very well. Thanks!
Two completely different bikes, only you can answer that by trying them out.
watching rj's videos I've always thought his bikes sound extra loud. I partly assumed it was because of the mic he uses but I can tell by the looks he gets from the crowd at 3:30 that yes, they really are that loud.
Hi there :) Have you ever tried Sony cams? Like fresh HDR-AS300? It has optical stabilization.
@RoyalJordanian Why do you always take out the baffle? Doesn't the bike get to loud that way?

hey there RJ, do think this is worth it or is there even any difference ? caus i cant really tell gopro just brings out so many products but no big improvements, i'd prefer to wait longer but get a better product ...

RJ,how is your shifting so smooth? you literally apply a little throttle and the engine shifts gears like its an auto matic,could it be the quickshifter you use or BMW's gearbox are one of the best in the world

i like the fact that it dont need water proof housing any more
and it has replaceable battery BUT
With three microphones on the camera you would at least think it would be able to handle wind noise...

It's better quality video but feels more offset than with your usual setup, might be because wider FOV. Have you tried chinmounting a gopro for centered videos?

No, very rare in London. She spent 17 days on the back on the Africa tour though.

Significantly more bouncy than your other recent videos.Even offroad on the South African series, the video is much more stable. Is that because this is the raw video with no post production, or is the image stabilisation not as good as the one you videoed the tour with? I saw some gimbals in fleabay and I was stunned by how costly they are. ..then I saw your video with the crazy lean angles and I realised why they cost so much!

not to be rude or something, but tbh, i didnt notice a difference from the hero 4
The video quality isn't what GoPro changed, it's the feature upgrade and the fact the Hero 5 is waterproof without a special housing. If you already have a Hero 4 and you don't need the top new features (voice control, touch screen, and waterproof to 30 meters) then you probably shouldn't upgrade. There are several side-by-side comparisons already on TH-cam that shows the quality and sharpness of the 4 and 5 are virtually the same.
Its actually water proof to only 10m (30feet) which is a massive downgrade for deep divers. But thats obviously a small niche.
Yeah, I noticed the typo after I posted but it doesn't make that much of a difference. A "downgrade"? I think not, since it's the first one to be waterproof to any depth. You can still buy a waterproof housing to take it deeper for divers. But like you say, it's a very small amount of the actual market that will be taking it below 30'....as long as mine can shoot in a rain storm I'm happy as pie!
I get your point but I havent seen anything about a housing for it, I tried searching and have not seen anything indicating a housing for it, And since its bulkier than the hero 4 I don't think it will fit in the old housing.. Thats why im saying when it comes to deep diving 10meters and that would be it. BUT if there is in fact a housing well I take back what I said.
Just have to go to the GoPro website and it's pretty simple to locate. :)

hey im 209cm tall and would like to get my first 1000CC bike or more. My previous bike was KTM 690 duke. Id like a quite tall bike in height and wondering if the ktm 1290duke is good of the BMW S1000 . KTM is taller i know. any other recommmandations ?

Have you tried recording at higher resolutions than 1080p? I have read that if you record at a higher resolution and let youtube compress it to 1080p it will look better than if you record at 1080p and let youtube compress it. Might be a pain if you have a slow pc though.

I'd say the main improvement with this camera is purely user convenience. Camera itself and quality seem to be identical to the Hero 4. Question is, is it worth upgrading just to eliminate the need for a case and a few other ergonomic improvements?

How good is the new Wind noise reduction?
we come to the point where the quality is limited by youtube bitrate, is not the same to look at a 1080p footage, than a 1440p footage on a 1080p screen, the quality is just incredible, due to youtube giving more bandwith to those videos
