Fantastic!! I've been drooling over the Fryette for a while now but so happy with the Matrix I don't know if I can justify another grand+ for a little bit of extra punch and juice. Sounds so damned good. But that running hot issue you mentioned as well as the weight (have back issues) reminded me of the bonuses of the Matrix. Thanks for posting this 😍
I got the Matrix recently and its really great , my vintage MB 2c+ and Two Rock classic reverb sits quietly on the shelf , i use tube amps all my life , last week i gigged with the Matrix and Axefx 3 and it did sounds great , i use a mesa 4/10 cab
I have the SD200, the Matrix, the Fryette (haven’t tried that yet) and the KSR PA50. I don’t care what anyone says, I can definitely tell between tube power. The SD200 (or even 700 if you need it) isn’t bad and is really close, but my tube KSR is just something you can “feel”. I’ll have to try the Fryette! I have the LXII and the 2/90/2. Running through celestion G12K-100’s and they rip!
The Fryette LXII sounds perfect. Mesa power amps aren't my cup of tea. Anyway the Matrix sounds very good (I believe you switched on the power amp simulation on the AXE FX.What is missing? ah yes: the Marshall EL84 20/20 !!!
My buddy is in a big touring band and uses the matrix which is why I bought one. I’m less than impressed. I’m thinking it has a lot to do with way less weight and being able to connect to FOH easily, but I’m not sure. He uses the AXEIII
@donniejean Before you switch it out though, try throwing a pedal like GupTech's pdEQ before you go into the poweramp. I use it with my SD units and it breathes a whole new soul into the overall tone. Absolutely cannot do without!
Got to post twice 😁 Wanted to ask, Running into the Matrix (or any SS power amp) I run all my FX and everything straight in. I'm wondering, seeing the Fryette is all tube, do you have to use the FX loop for stuff like Reverb & Delay? Or does it sound as good and clear going straight in like you would a SS power amp. Thanks 🙂
I'm not sure what you mean about an effects loop. I'm not running a traditional amp head I'm running the Axe-FX so I'm just running directly out of that into the matrix. Maybe I am just misunderstanding you
@@billstaleyguitarist Oh, yeah, I meant when you run into the Fryette. I thought the Fryette had an FX loop. And also a preamp of some sorts? I thought I read in the specs that it did have some sort of preamp section and figured if so that you would get some breakup/distortion before the effects in the AXE-FX hit the actual power amp section of the Fryette, hence the FX loop. Thinking about checking one out some day but now after running everything straight into a Matrix, I don't want to go back to all the FX loop cabling/4CM, hassle. Thanks :)
During the blind test C (Fryette with depth / presence switched out) was my favorite and D (matrix) was my least favorite. I agree that the Matrix sounded like it had the high some high end roll off compared to the tube options. I also agree that the differences weren't worth the extra weight and cost concerns of running a tube amp for live use.
People complain a lot. I want the sound of a tube amp, but don’t want a real tube amp because they are too heavy. But my tone must be perfect! But $1000 is too expensive for that. Also can’t they make a 1 watt button because of my neighbors? I watch too much TH-cam 😩 but if you want real tubes, I’d check out the KSR PA50. It’s like a little lunchbox power section. It’s a tad heavy, but I just did a comparison tonight and just love those tubes! But the SD 200 isn’t bad either!
I stand corrected, there was a cab block, but you are correct. I use output 2 for going to a real power amp and cab. You definitely were not hearing a cab IR.
You would run your modeler (AXE FX, HELIX, or any PREAMP into this for the main power supply. So this unit is what would drive your speakers. I run mine through a cab with celestion k-100’s.

You've confirmed my preference for the LXII.
Thanks for watching
@@billstaleyguitarist thanks for making it, quality comparison :)

That's a great combo
"Rock and Roll Crazy Nights!" Right on brotha! 💚🎸

And I love that you threw some COH into your demo!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
It's true the Fryette LXII sounded perfect

You already know my thoughts Bro! Bill is a BADASS!!! Miss Ya Bro :)
Matrix was surprising to me. Very nice demo as I'm in the market for a new power amp. Thanks!
KSR released a rackmount 50
And 100 watt if you haven’t seen it or in the market for a rackmount!
Cool comparison
I switched from Matrix to Seymour Duncan PS170 and a PS200. Both damn awesome!
Nice!

Mesa sounded the worse,
Ftyette with switches off sounded the best.
Absolutely hear the difference between A and C
I agree
Great job! \m/
Fryette lx11 I use in dokken tribute into the fire my tone is golden
Got a video? I'd love to hear it

Understood. No, there's no fx loop or preamp on the Fryette. Think of it as your Matrix, but with tubes.
@@billstaleyguitarist oh wow! I must have been looking at a different one. VERY cool! Thanks so much for all that info 🙂

Great demo! Can you confirm that you're bypassing the cabinet block in the preset?
Thank you. There was no cabinet block in the preset at all.
@@billstaleyguitarist OK, thanks. There appears to be one in the screenshot but it's on Output 1, so I guess you used Output 2?

That's about as fair as it gets.
These should be connected to the head amp? Or are they an alternative to the head amp?

It must be me or my speakers but that tone got no life ..
To each his own. Thanks for taking the time to watch. Maybe post some videos of your rig so I can hear some tone with life
just try KSR P 50 . its better
I'll have to check it out, thanks.
