I saw her perform in 1964 and noticed that her voice was as good on stage as it was in the studio, not a common thing these days. As a radio DJ in the '60's, I played a lot of her hits and they always seemed just right for the moment. I've a great many memories from those days and Lesley was among the best.
RIP..your songs, especially Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows bring back happy childhood memories..thank you for the music Leslie!! Always will live in our hearts.
Loved her during my college years (1969 grad). When my daughter was in college a few years ago she had some of my CD's and today both her and her college roommate have this song as their ring tone on their cell phones - they know right away when they are calling each other.
Alizee Defan I don't really know anything at all bout her which I wouldn't know wether or not 2 agree with u bcause I just recently heard this "fun enjoyable song" of hers in a "TH-cam video" from an act in "America's Got Talent".
joe pish actually she was 42 years old here (26 years ago) and Still at the Top of her game notice those high notes ..her voice was very much in tact here she does a great job on the high notes singing Maybe I Know during this same show Melbourne 1989..
1963..Leslie Gore is the absolute pioneer of 'rock music'. (maybe along with Ronnie Spector).. Even before The Beatles arrived in America in Feb.1964, to officially kick off 'The Rock Era'...Not to be confused with the 'Rock and Roll Era' that began in 1956 with Elvis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Buddy Holly.. The modern 'Rock Era'. Leslie Gore was pure 100% Rock Music....Pioneer for woman in rock?...No! Pioneer for everybody in rock....Unbelievable..Like she knew at that young age what cool Rock Music was supposed to be about..And so confident and hip..I remember when I was 7, 8, 9, and 10 in the mid 60's, hearing Leslie's songs on tv, and my little AM transistor radio..Then I kind of forgot about her by time I was 13 and forward, and in High School in the mid 70s. As we all got into The Beatles, The Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Aerosmith, Zeppelin, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc. Maybe she wasn't on the radio so much after the 1960's or something.. Then like over 40 years later I pulled her up on You Tube and finally got to see lots of her TV appearances, and concerts, and video clips, and interviews, and I was blown away...Rock Music would have never had been the same if it wasn't for Leslie Gore...And her interviews over the decades shows how much of a great person Leslie Gore was... I seen every cool rock band in the 70's, and forward, but never got to see Leslie live in concert..Bummer! She passed away before I even realized that she still played live all these years....God Bless Leslie Gore, and Thanx You Tube for all of her great music..frankm62yroldwhitekid
Wonderful memories. I was 11 and our baby sitter played Leslie Gore, Beach Boys and all of the hot stuff of the era. Remember going to the A&W for a root beer and 5 cent pickle wiches...and hearing this.
On this day in 1966 {November 13th} Lesley Gore performed "Sunshine, Lollipops, & Rainbows" on the NBC-TV program 'The Andy Williams Show'... One year earlier on June 19th, 1965 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #13 and spent 11 weeks on the Top 100... Between 1963 and 1967 she had nineteen records make the Top 100; with four reaching the Top 10 and one peaking at #1 {"It's My Party" for two weeks, and it was also her debut record on the Top 100}...
Thanks for uploading, This wonderful lady inspired my childhood friend to come out as lesbian after years of being afraid, that was until she saw Leslie being so open and proud about being lesbian
On this day in 1965 {March 2nd} Lesley Gore performed "Sunshine, Lollipops, & Rainbows" on the NBC-TV program 'Hullabaloo' Three months later on June 19th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #13 and spent 11 weeks on the Top 100 It was composed by Marvin Hamlisch The song was featured in the Frankie Avalon movie "Ski Party" {Annette Funicello made a cameo appearance} R.I.P. Mr. Hamlisch {1944 - 2012} and Ms. Gore will celebrate her 67th birthday this coming May 2nd
Hello there I just found this while browsing the tube and I was at this concert and she is older but sounds the same and my mom worked with her as a backing singer twice and many other performers from the 50's and 60's and she really loved it but wanted a family and now thank you for bringing back a song that really touched me she worked with annette and frankie laine and guy mitchell as well as diane ray and a few others . thak you for the great video and keep them coming
I just read that they sped up this song when they released the 45 for radio play. Maybe this is closer to the original album version????? (I haven't been able to locate a streaming version online. The 45 does sound odd now that I know it was sped up. Leslie's voice is higher than I remembered. )
I put a video on TH-cam and I would love for her to watch it it's called sunshine lollipops and rainbows by Maya Tiernan your voice is really pretty😊😊😊
Love this song this song came out the year i was born 1964 Awesome i love Lesley Gore She is lesbian and hosted a show on channel 2 about the positive Gay role modles in society called In the life thank you Lesley Gore Im gay out and proud love you And this song
Interesting, thanks. So in a way they went 'to the Crossroads' too? There's an interesting video where John Hammond traces Robert Johnson's footsteps right to his probable death and burial place.

Lesley.
Rest In Peace beautiful spirit!....You will be missed...I carry you in my memories!
There was a window of brightness from this era, and this song showcases the lightness and idealism of it. R.I.P. Ms. Gore.
I still can't believe she's gone.
Loved her during my college years (1969 grad). When my daughter was in college a few years ago she had some of my CD's and today both her and her college roommate have this song as their ring tone on their cell phones - they know right away when they are calling each other.
I'm sure Lesley appreciates it, :) !! Thank you.
8 years and still no reply
The 1st female pop ICON
No...Brenda Lee holds that title.
Alizee Defan I don't really know anything at all bout her which I wouldn't know wether or not 2 agree with u bcause I just recently heard this "fun enjoyable song" of hers in a "TH-cam video" from an act in "America's Got Talent".
Lynn Templeton Wring again. The very first female pop icon was the unconquerable Connie Francis.
No mothra from Godzilla takes the position long live the queen
Pretty sure Tina Turner is more famous than her AND was putting out slappers before her...
"Sunshine, Lollipops and Roses', early 60's hit from Leslie Gore. live in Melbourne, 1989.
By Marvin Hamlisch (like "California Nights")
Que bonita canción 😃
A great performer with incredible eyes!
I think her voice got somehow softer as she aged. I think it's rather lovely for it.
I was there in Melbourne and of all the ledgens she suprised me the most, she gave it all.
damn, she had a kick ass body for a woman in her 60's there. RIP.
She was only 43 here.
i know. i corrected that
joe pish
Not yet, son.
More importantly, she had a kick-ass voice and kick-ass musicianship.
joe pish actually she was 42 years old here (26 years ago) and Still at the Top of her game notice those high notes ..her voice was very much in tact here she does a great job on the high notes singing Maybe I Know during this same show Melbourne 1989..

And I with cloudy with a chance of meatballs
LOLOLOLOL. I was watching that episode and was wondering what song it was.😂😂
Love her on Batman show ❤California Nights❤
Another GREAT Artist gone Rest In Peace Lesley.
She was a beautiful member of the LGBT community.
I have a lot of respect for Lesbians and Gay men who carried themselves with respect. Not so much the idiots nowadays, sadly.
I always thought she was part of the human community and just happened to be lesbian. My how things have changed.
Wait really
I respect but I just don't feel comfortable 😔
@@alyweirdchild7233 it's ok not to feel comfortable. Just by saying that you have respect is enough to see that you are a decent human being.
R.I.P. lesley, you were great,thankyou.
I've heard these songs for years and never knew the singer but now I know. She was great.
She was so beautiful when she was yung
9 years ago yet no replies. Shame
Found her beautiful her whole life, and what an amazing soul too
Agree, she looks fantastic and sounds great, but this was 21 years ago.

She’s got the adorable old singer voice that old actresses and singers get, like Betty Hutton on SNL
she sings it slower, but it is still.
Sunshine, Lollipops & Rainbows 😁
That's Sad she just died 2015! She wasn't even 70. She was Cool.
Written by composer Marvin Hamlisch who passed away today. R.I.P.
I was amazed , when I read she really didn't have any money, she did all those top records that sold, guess the record company's made all the money
She Does sound so happy in this One.
