I agree that it was better before( pre internet), from a fan/enthusiast/connoisseur perspective. There was a structure that worked( for me anyway). Saying that I'm sure there are many arguments for & against, but the structure worked for me & I miss it( even the ' crap' stuff) Like whats at number one in the charts & most people having an opinion on it too, young & old. Top of the pops would come on & one parent might say " what the he'll is this rubbish " & somone else would respond accordingly, and at school or work the next day we'd all talk about what was on, the milkman might be whistling the tune etc..... makes me sad. (P.s. that was great)
