    Great video Jean. Early retirement is optional, eventual retirement is not. Earn, save, invest , repeat. Build passive income and don't forget to enjoy your life. With potentially a 5 year window to retirement i am fine. I don't think I could retire with less than $1 million in income-producing investments. I have already achieved 60% of my goal.

      Haha. I definitely didn't pull that in myself. I knew next to nothing in finance. A good financial advisor really does make a lot of difference.

      True to the fullest. Despite having no prior investing experience, I started investing before the pandemic and made about $150k in profit that year. In reality, all I was doing was consulting a professional

      There is an exception though... to buy from an elderly street vendor or a young man walking for kilometers selling basket ware for instance, even though you don't need it

    i totally agree with you about living a minimalist life....i have made a lot of purchases in my life where i just used it a few times and now it's lying around the house as a space filler...when i purchased a brand new car, i found myself worrying too much about it getting scratched.....when i purchased a home, i worry about maintaining it and paying property taxes on it.......Yes, I believe we should only own what we really use every day...no need to make purchases because everyone is buying but because you really do need it👍

    • @JeanVoronkova
      @JeanVoronkova  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      oh totally relate. We just bought a car too and u know driving in Bali can be challenging too cos of the many motorbikes, so i was even thinking maybe we don't need a brand new car since we'll prob get scratched up quickly haha... but in the end we worry about the high humidity and internal health of used cars so played safe n bought a new one in the end... but then we also sold off the bike so it won't stay lying around unused... ah well. It's all a balancing act - to keep possessions from unnecessarily accumulating

    Yes! Can become frugal and live quality life. You need to have great cooking skills and enjoy delicious food at home. But you must have an electric auto steamer : oval size (steam rice: 50 minutes, steam porridge sweet potatoes cubes: 2.5 hrs in stainless steel bowl, water full, steam delicious soup, steam egg custard, steam ginger chicken and many delicious meals eg steam sweet potatoes cubes dessert, put in pot, add ginger slices and brown sugar: simple good hot dessert with less labour). Great for delicious steam soup, use only chicken carcass, black beans best. Basic Seasoning 2 tbsp abalone sauce, 1 tbsp light soy sauce, 1 teaspoon sugar. Creative great shop grocer discount & clearance from 50%-70%. An oven is basic delicious food: Butter spread toast with 2 half boil eggs, a dash of light soy sauce & white pepper, ovenated marinated honey sugar chicken thigh. A medium size chinese wok where you stir fried any kinds of noodles, rice dishes, fried rice. If my cat has passed, I don't want to keep animals. More freedom.

It’s very refreshing 🌸 I also noticed the little Casio watch you showed and I had that exact one last year and it was so cheap but the cutest watch I had owned, so it reminded me I needed to repurchase it so I can see the time without checking my phone lol. Jean, amazing video as always. I'd like to get your thoughts on something, you've often talked about living in the moment unless it comes about finances and enjoying the present, but how do you make sense of doing that while walking the path in the beginning stages when you have a lot to achieve before you can "afford" to live in the moment? I would love any thoughts on this, thanks!

    • @JeanVoronkova
      @JeanVoronkova  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      i think living in the moment is something that can be done at any stage in any circumstances. It is a strong philosophy emphasized in yoga and felt in surf and generally thru life (read The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle - lifechanging). it's got very little to do w money & finances. Cherishing my present is appreciating that whatever im doing now - whether it's relaxing n enjoying my retired life or 10 years ago when I'm dragging 90kg men & women around on the beach as their surf instructor - or fighting with my then boyfriend and then moving house to live with new housemates - or starting a new business n doing all the bits n bobs n odds n ends associated - living in the moment isn't about enjoying some "high point of life". It's awareness of that particular present moment. Consciousness that it may never be repeated again - focusing on whats the Now n not worrying too much about past or future. And one thing Eckhart Tolle taught in his book that's been very impt to me - the Present Moment is always almost invariably, "ok". EVerything's ok. A lot of our fears are unfounded insecurities. No matter how poor or struggling or tired from work or lost in life i was, I was always still ok, I survived, life went on and invariably got better. I'm not sure i'm doing a good job of explaining this haha sorry! i hope you get what i'm trying to drive at

    I've seen a few of your videos over the last year and totally relate with your minimalism and beach/nature mentality. I also respect your professional background and logical mindset. That said, can you recommend some good areas of Bali/Indonesia to live for peace, quiet and safety without all the crowds and tourists but still near the beach, nature, some cafes, laundry, mini-mart, banks, etc.?
    I've heard of places like Sanur, Nusa Dua, Uluwatu, Pecatu, Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Penida, Ubud, Sideman, Gili Islands, and Lombok, but I have no knowledge of these places.
    I've never been to Indonesia but will be there for a month starting in mid-September and would like to spend 5-7 nights in 5 or so different areas that might fit the bill. Any suggestions? 🙏

    • @JeanVoronkova
      @JeanVoronkova  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      your time line sounds like it's 1 day per area almost.... thats seriously not enough for you to understand anything about anywhere... not just Bali. Bali is generally a safe and lovely place but based on your description you can skip Kuta (touristic and possibly unsafe at night) and u might like areas like Sanur, Uluwatu.. I'm sorry but your question is too general it can't really be answered properly. Ubud isn't beach area it's in the jungle. I think you need to sit down and just do more research thru videos or websites. But a good starting point in Bali is to see Ubud, Canggu, Uluwatu & Sanur - these 4 places.

    • @EvolvedBonobo
      @EvolvedBonobo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JeanVoronkovaThank you :) I will be there for 30 days from 19 August - 18 September. I am looking to spend 5-7 nights in 4-6 different areas. I heard about Canggu, but it is supposed to have horrible traffic. I have done plenty of research given the places I mentioned in my original comment, so now I'm just trying to narrow it down to the best places based on a local's (your?) input since data only goes so far. I realize no place has it all, unfortunately.

    Hi sis thanks for sharing this great video! I believe everyone should Live below their means" adjust their lifestyle, be frugal, budget, save and invest. This helped me out as a 6 figure earner. I've grown over half a million in retirement savings with this method

      Congratulations ma'am so happy for you, I'm trying to get started I know it takes consistency to be successful. It's really so hilarious. Sadly there's actually people still living paycheck to paycheck

      Antoinette NC, 32. I Just started at my six figure job after being in and out of the poverty line. I really hope I don't end up like this. I'm scared really scared!!!

      Don't panic, start out easy, don't buy things you don't need, budget every money, always save a portion of your pay atleast 5%, Invest from your pay check; it grows and helps you accumulate wealth easily.
