The new SEGA games being in development was probably my favorite announcement of the night, just the fact they are finally doing SOMETHING with these beloved franchises that aren’t just Sonic or Yakuza makes me very happy
Same, my Dad’s first gaming console was the original Xbox that came with a free copy of Jet Set Radio Future. He absolutely loves that game. He mentions that they should make a sequel for it every year. It felt special texting him that another one might finally be coming after 20 years.
Yeah but I mean they already brought back a lot of franchises these past few years: Sakura Wars, Super Monkey Ball, Samba de Amigo, Space Channel 5 + allowing indie devs to do Streets of Rage 4 and Alex Kidd DX. It feels like people were so bothered about complaining that SEGA only do Sonic and Yakuza games that they didn't even cared every time they actually try to bring back these franchises, and now some of them like Sakura Wars are back in the dead zone.
Vinny's confusion over how Ironmouse can win the award is odd given his proximity to Limes. Weird that chat pointed out the Gorillaz comparison instead of her.
If it was a non-vtuber, would he have asked "is it the youtube channel who won the award, or the person behind the youtube channel?" What a weird question. I didn't watch the game awards and today I was talking to somebody who did and he was like: "I'm really excited for world of goo 2" which nearly gave me a heart attack
Death Stranding made me feel something. might've been cringe & frustration / disappointment at times, but that's a 6/10 game I'd play 10/10 times. interesting + unique = best.
The thing is I don't know anyone who finished Death Stranding. It's only compelling for a little while due to the novelty/gimmick but there's a game still left afterwards. He needs to have someone manage his more outlandish ideas into something usable
Hot take, but I think plenty of people are capable of coming up with weird ideas, and kojima isn't really one-of-a-kind. He's just lucky people stay true to his vision instead of making things too game-ified and sticking too much to traditional good game design tactics.
@AlterBridgeJericho can't agree at all. I put 90 hours into Death Stranding and it never felt gimmicky, and I never got bored. There's a lot more to it than people who have only watched some footage of deliveries give it credit for. Game was a masterpiece
Vinny is closing in on the "Open mouth reaction streamer" meta. Soon, it'll be open all the way, he'll be holding his head and looking to the bottom right of the screen with an edited picture of Geoff and Kojima crying.
The game awards where everything kinda bleeds together at the end to where I can't recall most of it By the end of it I'm tired, deenergized and demoralized that I just want it to end that I wonder why I watch it every year I'm glad Vinny commentary is there it makes it barrable Also 58:35 someone please make a remake of Vinny's "Oh my god Lois, What the deuce fat man" bit
For real: It just keeps getting more and more bleh each year. Sure, there are moments when I get jolted back to life with a game announcement that interests me, but why not just wait for the trailers after the awards, because that's all I really want to see, anyway. I know I shouldn't have watched it this year but I guess I'm a glutton for punishment.
It’s telling where the industry is headed when almost all of the audience members in the front rows are just old ass execs, there’s celebrity appearances up the wazoo, and the trailers for 90% of the upcoming games barely have any actual gameplay.
Vinny is the only reason I watch the Game Awards anymore. I actually completely forgot it was happening this year until this week's Sunday stream when he responded to a chat member asking him if he was going to stream it.
Sad Pizza Tower didn't win a single award, but hey, they were at least nominated in one of the two categories _meant_ for indies. Also the wait for Silksong continues.
If you think that's ridiculous, People Make Games lost to Ironmouse. This award show is a fucking joke and I'm glad I didn't bother to watch. And I want to be clear I mean no disrespect to Ironmouse, but PMG moved the needle a lot and given that the show is clearly a publicist driven affair, giving the press zero credence remains the norm for the industry. This is not cool, man.
@@KingThrillgore definitely not because ironmouse moved the clock tower compared to PMG. Sorry but pmg aint got crap conpared to ironmouse for the charity works she done.

This really is just The Game A(war)ds. All the time in the world for ads, barely any for awards, and when awards are presented they give the recipients thirty seconds to say their thanks. Even the Oscars allows recipients fifteen seconds more... But nope, gotta make more time for those Hollywood celebrities, right? Atleast Gonzo was fun on stage, I guess.
Not sure if it’s intentional but Johnny picked the perfect frame of Vinny for the thumbnail-he looks just like live-action Alan Wake which is fitting for how out of left field all of AW2’s awards were and Vinny’s surprise at them

Last time Sean Murray was on stage, he over-promised to a point most considered straight up lying and had to spend years fixing his fuck up, all the while him and his team were getting hate emails. And like only now that his reputation's somewhat recovered and he's already playing with fire
It's like inviting a liar back on stage to make another potential lie. Yes, he "redeemed" himself, but it took YEARS for him to actually make the game good. That's after everyone already bought into the lies and paid money for it. Sean should not be allowed back on stage on principal alone. I think it's incredibly shitty how they joked about playing Chris Judge off and then immediately play off the next guy five seconds after he starts talking. "Oh, you're having the most important moment of your career right now, how about you SHUT THE FUCK UP WE GOT ADS TO RUN"
Every year one indie game gets announced that I’m excited about early on (World of Goo 2, Hades 2, etc) and then most of the rest of the show is carried just by Vinny’s commentary
Regarding vinny's day after addendum, i have to disagree with him saying Keighley cares about the industry. He might say that and play lip service to it but his actions and how he puts on his shows definitely dont seem like it to me. Especially after he was shilling making AI movies earlier this year during the strikes. The TGAs just seem like an excuse for him to invite and rub shoulders with hollywood people and fellate Kojima whenever possible. The fact that Gonzo had more time on screen than almost any of the award winners is just kinda disrespectful imo. Im glad GDC and DICE awards exist , they are definitely better at actually showing creators and devs respect.

As cool as it is they gave her the award, i think it's a little unfair they made a joke about her being animated instead of saying the real reason she can't be there because there's surely MANY people who don't know her
im assuming she asked them to say that rather than announce her situation
Her illness doesn’t mean she had to become a Vtuber, but obviously there’s nothing wrong with that.
Yeah, happy for her that she won an award at least.

The new SEGA games being in development was probably my favorite announcement of the night, just the fact they are finally doing SOMETHING with these beloved franchises that aren’t just Sonic or Yakuza makes me very happy
same honestly!!! it was such a nice surprise to see golden axe and streets of rage outside of, like, a mobile game or something
You have smth against Yakuza franchise ? It's an awesome series come on...
@bentleywittman4617 you're really doing the "so you hate waffles?" Meme?
The Elphelt dlc trailer being Vinny’s first exposure to guilty gear is simultaneously unbelievable and hilarious
Vinny ripping into the discord phone app was cathartic lmao
Vinny's confusion over how Ironmouse can win the award is odd given his proximity to Limes. Weird that chat pointed out the Gorillaz comparison instead of her.
well, chat posted a lot of limesAYAYA
If it was a non-vtuber, would he have asked "is it the youtube channel who won the award, or the person behind the youtube channel?" What a weird question. He is close friends with several vtubers, and plays games with vtubers often. It almost felt like pandering to the chatters that were weirded out.
The only explanation I can think of is that maybe he thinks that she’s like a full on character 100% detached from an actual personality?
Which to be fair I’m pretty sure there’s a lot like that, and I don’t even watch Ironmouse but from what little I’ve gotten through osmosis I know she’s not one of those
we’re getting closer and closer to having Vinny on Speak of the Devil, guys
Someone also asked “you’re friends with Limes?” which is really funny

World of Goo 2 made this cinematic purgatory all worth it. Bawled as soon as those strings kicked in.
Really hope Kermit plays it.
I love that they made the trailer for World of Goo 2 using the open source "Kdenlive" video editor, which has been my daily driver for years.
It really hit me hard with that "it's been 15 years" stuff though, felt the weight of eons on me as soon as that popped up.
i screamed in joy when vinny recognized wog
It was the one light in a sea of suffering
I didn't watch the game awards and today I was talking to somebody who did and he was like: "I'm really excited for world of goo 2" which nearly gave me a heart attack

Kojima might be making weird games but I feel like we need more big name weird games out there. I want more strand type games.
Death Stranding made me feel something.
might've been cringe & frustration / disappointment at times, but that's a 6/10 game I'd play 10/10 times.
interesting + unique = best.
based
The thing is I don't know anyone who finished Death Stranding.
If Vinny ever gets that bad I'm going to unsubscribe and only watch quality streamers such as Grey Leno.

Also 58:35 someone please make a remake of Vinny's "Oh my god Lois, What the deuce fat man" bit
Vinny (or the jerm) streaming this event is the only way I'll put up with watching it anymore these days.

HOLY SHIT JOHNNY!
*Did you really just timestamp an entire 4 hour long video!?*
Not sure if it’s intentional but Johnny picked the perfect frame of Vinny for the thumbnail-he looks just like live-action Alan Wake which is fitting for how out of left field all of AW2’s awards were and Vinny’s surprise at them
Sega unironically carried the 2023 Game Awards! I’m so excited for Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio, kinda hoping we can get a new Ristar, Vectorman, Comix Zone, Shining Force, or even Ecco the Dolphin!
Why was vinny so on-edge when the Sean Murray thing happened? He sounded genuinely miffed
People shouldn't have to pay money and wait years for a complete game. It's creating a horrible trend like Early Access bullshit.
@@milesedgeworth132except he is not an asshole he is a indie dev that was shoved into the spotlight and fucking up everything up along the way and his lies were gonna be in the game but they had to cut alot of it out.

great to see sega finally woke up from their coma

SEGA aren't making these they're just licensing the IPs out, I think. I think it's because they want to start a cinematic universe and this is to drum up interest for that.

the Kermit segment made it all worth it
