Every time I watch an interview of Andy, I am continually impressed at how lovely he was, such a beautiful soul and it really was a tragedy that he died so young.
Andy was blessed with stunning looks, charm and an abundance of talent...Had he lived, given how much success he had achieved at a, relatively, young age, I have a strong feeling, that, Andy would've achieved, or, would've come close to achieving, the kind of phenomenal success achieved by Michael Jackson and/or Rod Stewart.
@kat lover I think if andy had lived he would have eventually went on to be a Bee Gee and now him and Barry would be working together, like you said.but I dont agree about MJ... he didnt molest anyone.
@kat lover they didnt want him in the band. Barry knew the light would be taken off him because Andy had a versatile voice. Robin had a beautiful voice. Barry sounded like a crying dog. That sound was ok on a couple of songs but the power was behind Robin

A great interview. Good questions and I believe that Andy was totally honest, including his marriage. They were young and when that hurricane of success hits, relationships are difficult to maintain. The record company wanted to promote Andy as single to his teenage fans. Unfortunately, he did turn to drugs because the fame was difficult to deal with but there were other issues as well. None of us can judge unless we've been in the same situation. Rest in Peace dear Andy.
In all the interviews I have seen he is so kind and honest. Almost to the point where one as a viewer fear he is being exploited. Today he would have been protected against himself.

Poor Andy my heart fills with sadness looking at him. Hollywood DESTROYED him.. the drugs, the parties, the women, the pressure - poor sweet soul. Was Andy flawless and perfect? No he was human .. humans err and make mistakes. I hope his soul has found the peace that was not to be found in this life.

None of his family seemed to have time for him, some of them admitted this. He was given the stuff of fame but none of the support he needed to handle it.
oh my goodness I had such a huge crush on Andy Gibb when I was 9 and 10 years old and the mid 70s early 80s and I got to tell you watching these interviews cuz it's been a long time I've course was so young don't remember ever seeing these interviews but I had his shirt I had the shirt with a picture of his face on it I had record player than album my dad I bought me for my birthday I was so excited and looking back in this now I am now 50 and looking back and watching the interviews and how respectful everybody was and no profanity no bad language how different it was the only thing that you're atates me is as interviewer with him he's annoying for some reason he's just really corny and annoyingbut other than that I loved watching this has been a long time and watching this just made me rekindle my little girl crush on this man when I was 10 years old.

He was way too young to be married and stay married. He sounds very sweet but not mature. Where were his parents? There is no way my parents would allow me to get married at such an early age..I think once in America he had felt trapped and overwhelmed with his personal life and career.

All the troubles of this guy from a lack of education. Until the end of his life, he never learned to set value priorities and fight for them. And apparently he was still far from searching for the meanings of his identity, since he always sailed with the flow of pleasures. All this led to tragedy and early death. Although the guy, no doubt, was talented.

They also went on Donahue as a couple and he was to go on tour and he backed out. That was it! His chance to stay in limelight, but he chose love. SMH

I'm not sure of the exact date, but the Davidson Show ran from May 1980 to May 1982 (I was in the band).
We saw John Davidson in concert in Chicago and he was fantastic. Andy is cute here, and fun to see the parents.

Eva He was 18 when he got married. His parents couldn't stop him. But school is different.
Your parents are rather controlling then. AT 18 you can do what you want.

John Davidson was a hoot! He was always a wannabe of Andy Gibb! I thought he was a very kind man & very good to my Andy; I thought he genuinely liked Andy & for the most part asked questions directly regarding Andy & not too many of the brothers, giving Andy the opportunity to freely answer the questions. Thumbs up to John Davidson for that! *I did get sour on him tho & my opinion changed on him for allowing that VP(Victoria Principle) to formerly introduce herself to Andy on national television, & unbeknown to Andy. I didn't like that for many reasons. The day Andy met her was the beginning of the end for him with her distasteful, distractful, disgraceful, & destructible way she sunk her claws into Andy's soul & was more than willing & ready to destroy the man; but I digress; that is a dialog for another day. Truth be known; Andy was the forgotten child within the Gibb family; the boys(Barry, Rob & Mo)really didn't put too much attention into him (which I believe began the cycle of depression for him); even when he made notoriety at age 16 & 17 when he was in Australia; they left him out there for the wolves, which honestly began his introduction to stimulants, & although his parents were always nearby, they didn't do anything to protect their child. They had become very blinded with the fame of their sons (the brothers) with the money that went along attached with it & all the exposure. Andy tho still remained very humble & polite & respectful in the being that he was. He & I had a personal & intimate long-standing relationship that lasted for nine years up until the day of his passing; I met him when I was very young he was 21 & I was 12. The incident that he's talking about at Magic Mountain, I was there with him with a group of friends & his guys; it was a disaster once people found out Andy was there. I was terrified of the crowds & I honestly never knew how Andy dealt with it all! Thankfully he got us all out safely after being separated for a bit from the rest of the group. But even in getting to our cars we had to run maneuvers out of the parking lot & freeway because people had followed us out of the gate. We never did that again! It was fun in the beginning thou on the rides, before someone leaked Andy being there. I wanted to point out Andy quit school, but he was forced into doing so to get on the trail of the Gibb Legacy of singers, also I don't necessarily believe Andy meant it was a mistake to have married Kim; there were just a lot of things surrounding that time that made it difficult, & the timing was off.
