Andy was gorgeous. I read that Barry wanted Andy to join the Bee Gees. How amazing would that have been. I’ve seen him sing with them once. He’s so like Barry, even his speaking and singing voice. Gorgeous handsome talented funny men. It’s such a loss that three of them are gone way too young.
Totally agree with Anne, Andy was an amazing singer, actor and entertainer, and oh so handsome!! He had a shyness about him that was soooo sweet!! He and Olivia were great singing together. Their voices blended beautifully!!
Andy's life wasn't all drugs and bad romance. He had an amazing career, wonderful family and enjoyed a great deal of his life outside of the music industry, he was a wonderful actor as well as a talented singer and musician, I wish people could just focus on what was amazing about this young man's life instead of the last few years that he struggled to kick his drug habit, ( Which he had) and his short lived romance with Victoria Principle which only lasted 13 months. He was with us for 30 years and lived a very interesting life before his heart gave out on him. He didn't overdose, he didn't kill himself. He had Viral Cardio-myopathy which most like came from bad shell fish. Yet people focus far too much on the drugs and alcohol habit as his cause of death. It may have sped things up, but in time people with that diagnoses rarely live full lives. I wish they would make a feature length movie about his real life, instead of the one Hollywood and the tabloids created. Now that would be a fine tribute to the life and times of Andy Gibb.
I agree with Debi... it didn't matter anymore, Andy stayed off drugs, even if he kept drinking to battle his loneliness... the excessive cocaine abuse had terribly weakened his heart... Barry noticed when they played tennis, how red Andy's head would get.. as if his heart couldn't take it really.. The damage was already done.. had they investigated it properly, who knows what measures could have been taken still.. it was as much a ticking time bomb as Maurice's twisted intestine.

Still so sad that someone so young handsome, talented & with so much to live for had to die so young. I think she found out Andy had a thing for her & started dating him for publicity. She broke his heart which made his drug use worse at first but with his family’s help he did get off the drugs. But his depression didn’t help so he then depended on the alcohol to get him thru, if he had lived he could probably have kicked that problem too. But hey that’s just my speculation. I was & still am a fan of his & his brothers. 💙💙💙

The Bee Gees said many times that their father was mostly critical of them, which was pretty hypocritical in that the kids were supporting their parents -- not vice versa.

Amazing singer. My whole family enjoyed his songs during the late seventies and early eighties. I bought all his albums cassette pieces those days with my pocket money when I lived in Sri Lanka. I still got his albums and love to listen to all his songs.

I disagree about Hugh Gibb. Barry, Robin and Maurice talked often about how their father frequently moved the family in the dead of night because he was skipping out on the rent. The Bee Gees supported the entire family as children, and continued to do so as superstars. Hugh did become involved in their management, but by then they were already successful. So I have little respect for their father, who mostly rode his sons' coattails.
Angela, his dad is a typical yorkshireman, comes from the north of England and i do too, men did not really hug their sons where i come from, i think you have to remember this is quite a long time ago and im sure he loved his kids to bits, but shows of affection, especially in public are not very "Yorkshire" :-)

In an interview, Barry said that both the Bee Gees and Andy had one more album each to record to fulfill their contracts with their respective record companies and after that (he said about one year), Andy was to join the Bee Gees. I think that would have made them all very happy. So sad it couldn't happen.
He was born in England & he died in England. I know the aussie accent is very easy to pick up so its kinda amazing that none of the Gibbs brothers picked it up when they spent several years of their childhood years there. None of them lost ther Lancashire accents. They had homes in Oxford. Where Andy died. RIP

Well judging by Andy's answer"My brother Barry PRODUCES all my records", Mr.Gibb added"Andy's 3 records which of course Barry produced all became hits,It's not BAD AT ALL! infact Barry was the brother who took Andy to R.Stigwood to lauch his career as well.
If i was Andy i would’ve NEVER asked Barry to produce me. I’d rather have my own sound with different writers and producers. Those records were good but they sounded Iike Bee Gees records with a different singer on it.

Yes I believe he had to have died of a broken heart from Andys death. A patents worst nightmare. No Parent should ever have to bury their child. It's a heartbroken thing to go through in life without their child. He loved Andy very much you can just see it in his face when he spoke about his beloved Son. He never had to go through another death of Maurice nor Robin. That would of really have been devastating even more to bury 2 more Sons that he loved so much!!! They are altogether in heaven with God. They ate singing to their loving Parents. 💞💕💞💕
I love to hear Barry talk about how much him and Andy were so much alike, when he lost Andy, he not only lost his baby brother but his true friend. Barry always said that they had a tremendous amount in common, such as tennis, waterskiing, snow sking, and other sports. Not to mention that young Andy favored Barry in looks too. kat lover I remember that interview, i wanted him to walk out on her so bad but Andy was too kind, sweet & considerate to do that. If I had been in his shoes I would have lost my temper & told her to stop or the interview would be over. His kindness & politeness always shines in every interview & you can see it in his eyes along with the pain & hurt he feels.

I was stunned when I first heard the Gees speak in their early days, they were 'polite Mancunians'... I'd always heard them much later in their career, they had lost a big bunch of their native accent and had shifted towards southern England. Mo had also included some Americanisms after having been so long in Miami.
Yes. And I think I read somewhere that was part of Andy's insecurities..he felt that his brothers were all much more talented than him and he felt he couldn't live up to that, which of course, far from true IMO.
@@char7488 But unfortunately he was not part of the group Bee Gees. Barry I read started him off with the hits but did not continue that and Andy was singing a lot of remakes. Personally I think Victoria Principal thought he would be as successful on his own as the Bee Gees and fairly quickly learned it was not the case.

He wrote quite a few of his songs, was helping him get better at writing his own, he produced all Andy’s albums, and sang back-up vocals on a lot of his songs. And when Andy’s voice became weaker, due to cocaine use, Barry sang some of the lead vocals on his last album. And Barry had helped him write four songs for his new album, and then sent Andy to England to live with Robin and finish his album and be near the record company, and that’s when he died.

It was a shame he died so young. He had issues. Apparently he started taking drugs when he lived with his wife in America, I believe this is the reason they split up. I feel for him when Victoria left him, because he loved her much. But many people loose a loved one and eventually move on with their lifes. His brothers tried to help him, but like Barry said, you have to do it yourself. It's all so very sad, specially for his daughter. I still get sad when I see his recording and his lovely smile. R.I P❤

Watched the Bee Gees documentary on Sky Arts TV in the UK yesterday just wondering why the youngest daughter is not mentioned/dismissed and that Lesley the oldest daughter also sang.
Now there's no mention of the second daughter/sister whatsoever. I searched everywhere for mention of her. Watch 9:00 and after, Andy squirms when Hugh mentions 2nd daughter. And after 10:09, Hugh is flinching over at Andy when Mike does a follow-up question about the 2nd daughter.
The fact that a griefstricken Barry is still functioning may be the most extraordinary accomplishment in a lifetime full of them.

By the way Andy tried to make hits of his own,he even had his own band but call it bad luck it didn't work out for him,so he turned to his older and alot more experienced brother for help! Andy could have been a show host,,he was more successful doing that instead of music!

Yes I believe he had to have died of a broken heart from Andys death. A patents worst nightmare. No Parent should ever have to bury their child. It's a heartbroken thing to go through in life without their child. He loved Andy very much you can just see it in his face when he spoke about his beloved Son. He never had to go through another death of Maurice nor Robin. That would of really have been devastating even more to bury 2 more Sons that he loved so much!!! They are altogether in heaven with God. They ate singing to their loving Parents. 💞💕💞💕
I love to hear Barry talk about how much him and Andy were so much alike, when he lost Andy, he not only lost his baby brother but his true friend. Barry always said that they had a tremendous amount in common, such as tennis, waterskiing, snow sking, and other sports. Not to mention that young Andy favored Barry in looks too. I really enjoy all of the Bee Gees!!! ❣️❣️❣️

So this guy is interviewing Andy Gibb and spends most of the interview talking about the Bee Gees. No wonder Andy never felt good enough. He was an entertainer in his own right not just the Barry, Robin and Maurice's little brother.
And he had more talent on stage than Barry, Robin and Maurice combined.. he had the moves to fill it... actually, refreshing, didn't miss the other three AT ALL this interview... how delightful.
I just cant imagine how inconsiderate they all were who would interview Andy- Had to bring up the Bg's over and over again. Andy earn it and should have rec'd it in abundance.

He was always framed and pinned down.. but he was too amiable to just return to his own talking points and turn it around.
kat lover I remember that interview, i wanted him to walk out on her so bad but Andy was too kind, sweet & considerate to do that. If I had been in his shoes I would have lost my temper & told her to stop or the interview would be over. His kindness & politeness always shines in every interview & you can see it in his eyes along with the pain & hurt he feels.
well, they also asked his siblings about Andy in every other interview during Andys life and even later, it is not that important to comment on it

No trace of an Australian accent in Andy's accent... he actually followed his brothers and his parents when they got back to England in 1966, he used to live in London.
His dad's a Mancunian through and through...

Listen to when he says 'Manchester': it's absolutely British.
Of course he must have some Australian influence, having spent his childhood there, but I don't actually think that prevails over his British accent.
Their dad is Mancunian through and through, only Barry speaks a bit like him, Robin spoke with a very classy RP British accent only slightly touched by his Mancunian roots, Maurice had a British accent though he had americanised it along the years. None of them had any trace of Australia.

I was stunned when I first heard the Gees speak in their early days, they were 'polite Mancunians'... I'd always heard them much later in their career, they had lost a big bunch of their native accent and had shifted towards southern England. Mo had also included some Americanisms after having been so long in Miami.

Yes. And I think I read somewhere that was part of Andy's insecurities..he felt that his brothers were all much more talented than him and he felt he couldn't live up to that, which of course, far from true IMO.
@@char7488 But unfortunately he was not part of the group Bee Gees. Barry I read started him off with the hits but did not continue that and Andy was singing a lot of remakes. Personally I think Victoria Principal thought he would be as successful on his own as the Bee Gees and fairly quickly learned it was not the case.

He wrote quite a few of his songs, was helping him get better at writing his own, he produced all Andy’s albums, and sang back-up vocals on a lot of his songs. And when Andy’s voice became weaker, due to cocaine use, Barry sang some of the lead vocals on his last album. And Barry had helped him write four songs for his new album, and then sent Andy to England to live with Robin and finish his album and be near the record company, and that’s when he died.

It was a shame he died so young. He had issues. Apparently he started taking drugs when he lived with his wife in America, I believe this is the reason they split up. I feel for him when Victoria left him, because he loved her much. But many people loose a loved one and eventually move on with their lifes. His brothers tried to help him, but like Barry said, you have to do it yourself. It's all so very sad, specially for his daughter. I still get sad when I see his recording and his lovely smile. R.I P❤

Watched the Bee Gees documentary on Sky Arts TV in the UK yesterday just wondering why the youngest daughter is not mentioned/dismissed and that Lesley the oldest daughter also sang.
Now there's no mention of the second daughter/sister whatsoever. I searched everywhere for mention of her.
Watch 9:00 and after, Andy squirms when Hugh mentions 2nd daughter.
And after 10:09, Hugh is flinching over at Andy when Mike does a follow-up question about the 2nd daughter.
