Parents Vow to Get Foster Daughter Back After Being Removed Over Heritage

  • A sobbing 6-year-old girl was pulled from the arms of her foster parents and bundled off to extended relatives because she is 1.5 percent Native American. The child was removed in accordance with a federal law designed to protect Native American children. Lexi will be sent to live with extended Choctaw family members in Utah, authorities said. Foster parents Rusty and Summer Page vowed to get the girl back, saying they love their daughter and have been caring for her since she was a toddler. #InsideEdition

    If she had relatives that wanted to take care of her and could, WHY WOULD THE PUT HER ON ADOPTION!?!?!?

    • @patna9219
      @patna9219 4 ปีที่แล้ว +202

      Child was never available for adoption. That is what they were arguing about, for the court to order the state to forcably make her available for adoption and solely to them. There is a reason every court and judge that heard this case found that they had failed in their duties and obligations to the child as foster parents snd why CA2DCOA envoked SCOTUS ruling on estoppel in custody proceeding; you cannot create a ground and then claim that ground as the basis of your argument.

      She wasn't put up for adoption. Just because she was adored by her foster parents that doesn't mean her family didn't fight tooth and nail trying to get her back. Cps is notorious for taking kids for no reason.

      They didn't. She was *_temporarily_* put in foster care and was NOT available for adoption except by family. *The foster parents withheld her for four years. They have political motives to overturn ICWA laws that protect native families* from being torn apart. This is their second child that they tried to do this with. Darn adoptoraptors! Predatory adopters who kidnap kids for their own gain. 🙄

      She was put in foster care temporarily for legal reasons. Then these adoptive parents, knowing she was NOT available to them, withheld her for four years from her loving family. They inflicted a lot of trauma on an innocent child for their own selfish reasons.

    What matters most isn't the heritage or race, it's whether that child will be put in a safe, happy and healthy home. The foster care system fails allot of children, many get raped, abused, neglected, used for their checks, etc. This foster family is very caring I hope this doesn't happen again.

    This is why ppl should always hear the other side of the story. Apparently Lexi bio mom gave her up but the bio Dad, her paternal grandparents, and aunt wanted her. The courts placed her in foster care until they got the family issues resolved. Then when the court came to a conclusion the foster parents wanted to adopt her. KNOWING very well that this day was coming and that they never prepared her for this. Now I see those parents as kidnappers more than a loving family.

      The foster placement was only meant to be for a short time whilst her family members were dealing with the paperwork and going through the proper checks before they were allowed have custody and were having regular contact whilst they were waiting (which is standard an usually a very quick process) but once they did all that the foster parents made things very difficult which delayed what should have been a quick transition and caused her to be away from her family for 4yrs.
      The foster family knew from day one she wasn't up for adoption and was meant to go back and were warned repeatedly when they started making things difficult. The whole her being 0.1% had nothing to do with it. That's just the excuse the foster family gave and they were very manipulative and kept a child from her family (a family lexi had said many times she wanted to live with) for 4yrs because of it.

    This child was supposed to be placed temporarily while bio family was assessed for placement. Foster family thought they got a cute lil baby without having to pay an adoption fee, so they dragged their feet and withheld this child from her family for 4 years. This was the 2nd time they had pulled this stunt, and they told this poor baby that "bad people" were coming to steal her from them so they could get the most agony and tears out of her for the cameras. Their foster care license was revoked (thankfully). The drama and fanfare in this video was 100% for the adults. Their GoFundMe raised $60,000 even though they had a pro bono attorney. Absolutely shameful.

    • @octaviaskycrew1584
      @octaviaskycrew1584 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Lillian Sebalt Foster parents, clearly these people should have their foster licences revoked. This child was never up for adoption, they were her foster parents not her adopted parents. Or do you not know the difference. The child is not going to people who complete strangers, her blood family has been attempting to get the child back since she was a toddler and the Paige have played keep away ever since, they haven't known her since she was an infant they didn't have her for that long when her blood family wanted her, they did not have the right to keep her after the blood relatives were already granted rights when Lexi was younger, the family was than force to visit since the Paiges refused to give Lexi to them. They don't deserve to ever foster a child after this. The fact that they were allowed to keep her even after the first time they were told to give her back is amazing. Now that she's older she's gotten attached to these jerks and probably hates her bio family with how they were acting as they had their whole neighborhood bashing the social workers for doing what they should have done years ago, crying and screaming scaring the already confused child.

    I thought fostering was about finding a loving home, not finding people with the EXACT SAME GENETICS...
    Edit:
    I'm glad a lot of people agree with me. I want point out, also, that it isn't racist, or even *near* racist, to have a foster child with, say, Indian blood in a family who is white. The whole point of foster care and adoption is to find a loving home for the child in question, not finding someone who has the same DNA or skin color.
    I also want to point out that the family members who caused the child to be taken from her loving foster family didn't come out and say they wanted her *before* she was taken into foster care, which is kind of weird if you ask me.
    I feel like CPS shouldn't have just whisked her away without question. That's how you'll end up with the child being abused or just mistreated because they're thrown into a random family member's home who ends up not *wanting* to keep the child, and it just dissolves into an endless cycle of the child being bumped from different homes, or suffering.
    Even though this case is pretty old, this stuff still happens, and we need to focus on the *child* who is being shifted around like an object rather than a human being who wants a happy family and home.
