Another comparison, this time between Dig Dug mini arcades: My Arcade vs. the Basic Fun machine. The My Arcade is bigger, and shinier looking, but is it better?
The Basic Fun Arcade Classic version is the better of the 2. The Basic Fun version has easier to use controls, a much better looking cabinet, a longer title intro and conclusion of game, better sound, and an arcade like ROM instead of the NES Rom ased used in the My Arcade version. Clear cut winner: Basic Fun version.
Ik I'm late but i just got the MY Arcade version of DigDug. Its my first Arcade game brought from GameStop and so far i love it. I'm hoping to find Rampage next. That's my top priority.
The Basic Fun does NOT use the arcade ROM. The enemies act differently than in the arcade version, specifically the way the enemies barrel though thin walls whereas they would be stopped in the arcade version. It's also more difficult to trap groups of enemies under falling rocks. Basic Fun Dig Dug is MUCH more difficult than the arcade version.
I disagree the Basic Fun version in my opinion is a "Dumbed Down" homebrew version of the game. No not the actual arcade ROM but a well done replica. The Arcade game is much harder in my opinion.

It's a shame that for the extra $, My Arcade didn't use the arcade rom. I do like the look of their cabinets better.
It's the NES rom but it's very good. Pretty much the same as the arcade
