Hey Mike it's Travis Eldridge great looking corn and chopper and tractors look awesome definitely love that corn head and the wagons are looking great as always I definitely love that 4250 and talk to you soon and stay safe chopping and unloading keep up the great videos and it was really nice to meet you at the Whitney point fair and talking with you tell your family I said hello and can't wait to see more videos
Hey Mike hope everything is going good. Bummed about lack of repeating corn videos. I enjoy them. With we were still chopping. Rambling videos are good.
Thanks for the advice of the Dion head. I think it is the best decision we made. I had to tell Dad you sold me on it. So thanks. Pretty quick you will be shelling... Maybe be done before Turkey Day.
I'm glad you like your Dion head. We really like ours too. We are going to jump on beans next then circle back to corn. We are normally combining corn around thanksgiving time
Makes for a long day when you still have to get barn chores done too. Hope you have help for that. I know I’m whipped when I get done in barn after spending the day in the field.
Yeah there is a difference in our fields. This field on the river flat stayed green for a while but if you look at our corn on the higher gravel ground that has dried right down
If you leave 4 flaps of plastic on the bag. You won't have to do the extra work of picking the silage up. There's enough plastic to cover it. I know you said you feed your heifers with the extra. But that seems like a lot of extra work. And farmers already have enough work to do. Fun video to watch though. Thanks for doing what you do
@@chadpaider1009 if they are only putting up a certain number of full bags then they are putting up more feed. The feed isn’t going to waste. Saving them from giving heifers the fermented stuff from last year.
Depends on where you are storing it. In a pile or bunk silo you want to chop it greener. In sealed silos, like what we have, you need to harvest it a litter dryer like around 50-55%. In this video we were bagging and we rented the bagger so we should have chopped this sooner but we were at the mercy of waiting for the bagger to be available. Also this video is the last day we chopped and the corn had really dried down since the first day we chopped
We don't have scales to weigh each load and know for sure. I know we did about 70 loads for the 6 bags (the 6th bag was only 2/3 full) I'm pretty happy with the silage. I thought the field did pretty good
Kinda neat to see those bags being filled the way they are. Thanks for the ride alongs. Take care.
Thank you Ron. Glad you enjoyed seeing the bags filled
good looking feed and chopping corn was my favorite job on the farm back in the day always enjoyed it great video thank you
Thanks Dana. I love chopping/unloading in the silo. Its definitely one of my favorite jobs

Hey Travis. Nice to hear from you. It was nice to meet you also at the fair. I agree that 4250 is a pretty nice tractor. Hope everything is going well

Thanks Bryan. I'm glad you enjoy them. There will be another chopping video before we move on to beans

Great weather for silage harvest great video
Thanks John. It was definitely some beautiful weather
Another great vid! The deere's seem to be running great!
Thanks Gene. Yeah everything ran smooth
Great video Mike! Kinda neat you getting to chop.
Thanks Zeke. It broke up the corn silage videos a little bit getting to chop for a day
Great video Mike be safe
Thank you Paul
Good video Mike
Thanks Dave
Great video & drone footage Mike, it's that time of year to make Cow Chow 👍
It sure is. Gotta love harvest time
At least you are having a safe harvest and no break downs LOL
Thank you Paul. Yes luckily we got all the corn chopped and bagged without any break downs
Great Video Mike, I assume that with the crop being that mature is it more correct to call it earledge, thanks for sharing
Earlage is when you use a snap head and only harvest the ears. This is corn silage where the whole corn plant is getting chopped up for feed
1:41 Is the littleman on the left be a mascot? I also want to buy one in my cab.
That is an air freshener from Friday Parts. I think thats their mascot. They probably have some on their website
Makes for a long day when you still have to get barn chores done too. Hope you have help for that. I know I’m whipped when I get done in barn after spending the day in the field.
Yeah thats why I started doing both the chopping and unloading so my brother could get started on barn chores

C'est plutôt cool, c'est sûr
Great job 👌👍
Thank you
It’s crazy seeing you chopping and we’re combining 17%-18% corn 🤷♂️ and we’re not that far apart
Yeah there is a difference in our fields. This field on the river flat stayed green for a while but if you look at our corn on the higher gravel ground that has dried right down
The blue silos should explain the wait
Tiss the season , for chopping corn that is , stay safe , enjoy , a must to have feed for the cows ! Is that like 110 day corn or so ?
LED lights , made a big hit , you did the right thing , a very bright decision !! Stay safe !
Thanks Robert. Those LED lights sure do light up the night

Getting money worth of bags. Do you know how much each bag is?
@@rileyvessey5637 yes I do. You still can only fit so much in a bag. He's not getting extra in there by doing that. Just making extra work

Thanks Chad. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for the tip on the bag
How well does the 4250 handle this forage wagons?
The 4250 did great on the wagons and great for pulling up to the bagger
Mike, Does the corn head have a swing cylinder on it for shifting sideways? Nice videos,The remaining flap count saves a lot of work to seal the bag.
The chopper itself has a cylinder on it that swings the head in and out
Just curious with it being a bidirectional head do u ever cut across rows or just with the rows
Usually with the rows but if I need a little more to top off the load I'll go across the rows
How's the binder running?
The bagger is running well. Making some nice bags
How many wagon loads does it take to fill a bag?
These were 8x150 bags and we were getting about 12 loads in them
Thought the corn had to be much greener for silage?

10:30 are those your silos, etc in the distance?
Yes, thats the barn up there
