- As indie-filmmakers we would just like to take a moment to say. Wow, thank you internet, you're the ones who made this ambitious concept become a reality. With your continued support and generous funding, we were able to inspire some 200 volunteers to join the cause and show the world what we are capable of.
Despite all the generous donations, creating something of this scale on just £27k may seem laughable in the established film industry. However, we wanted to prove that we could punch way above our weight. In hopes that this proof-of-concept film ends up on the monitor of the "right person" who may hopefully see the passion, dedication and skill that was poured into this movie. Hoping that they might pick up the phone and give us a call. If you are that person. We're all ears.

I am in utter amazement at the sheer level of insane awesomeness this film is. The death toll “rises.” The visuals are visceral and satisfying. The music with the sounds of slaughter in battle are bone crunching. The intoxication of RAGE is infectious.
Thank you Chaos Rising team for allowing me the honour of being a wee part of this incredible project. As a wargaming community we are awe-inspired by you: our fellow brothers and sisters that makeup the production team and creators of this glorious project. For a $27,000 budget you did a fantastic job. Better than a lot of Hollywood fantasy shows with 10x the budget.
More of a $34,000 budget, still impressive nonetheless.

I think that might be backwards. I didn't check the current value of the dollar against the euro. But a couple years ago 1.00 € (euro) was close to $1.50 . I doubt the dollar has improved.
97,000 euro is about 150,000 dollars. And it's definitely worth every penny or cent. These guys did a great job.

“Break a vow to honour a vow.” The Questing Knight picked up a lance and used it. Love that little detail there.
As part of their duties, Questing Knights “set down their lance, a symbol of their duty”.
Sir Florrin acknowledges this and breaks that vow.
It’s such a tiny detail among many and it’s why I enjoyed this film so much. Real fans of the old world and it shows.
For a fan-made movie, it's a masterpiece.

Here is some context for those who don’t understand the setting.
The Viking looking raiders are Norscans. They live across the sea in an extremely cold region of the continent. The Norscans worship the Dark gods of Chaos. One of these is mentioned, the blood god Khorne. Khorne doesn’t demand anything except to kill as many people in martial combat as possible. This is why the chief seems not to care about gold or loot, but rather spilling blood. He is an avid worshiper of the blood god and Khorne doesn’t care about gold. The Norscans are extremely hardy and ferocious, often being much larger on average than men of southern countries. Norscans fight each other in tribal conflicts basically everyday or raid the south, so almost all of them are veteran warriors.
The group that is defending the settlement is the Bretonnians. They are a very feudal society with a strict hierarchy of knights, nobles and peasants. The knights of Bretonnia could arguable be the best mounted soldiers in the entire world. The peasants are sort of humble farmers and craftsmen, and are terrible in any sort of fight(as you can see in the initial attack). The main worship of the country is the Lady of the Lake, basically the Arthurian legend of France and Britain. As well as their very capable knights, their military fields men at arms and bowmen. These are essentially militia, not super great but will hold the line well enough. The nobles and knights of the realm hold disdain for the commoners, but it also considered a great disgrace to refuse to defend them, as they all take vows to be defenders of the realm. This is why the knights and monks are like wtf when the bargain runs away in the middle of the fight. The knights probably have the deal with a lot since the lords are assholes and their subordinates are inbred morons who can’t hold a sword correctly, but these guys are so well trained and capable that it makes total sense for two of them to hold off the entire Norscan raiding party when the gates are opened.
The Norscans also mention the Empire, this is the most powerful and largest nation of men in the world(except for maybe Cathay), and are very advanced technologically with artillery handguns, and a very strong group of knights and foot soldiers. Bretonnia is maybe a third the size and wealth of the total Empire, given that they are more based on the Holy Roman Empire from the 1500s than a medieval France.
That weird rat thing was a Skaven. They are tunneling rat men who live EVERYWHERE. They are by far the most numerous of races. They absolutely crave any and all warpstone they can get, which is what that green rock the Norscans was trying to give him. Skaven are technically chaos aligned, and so their goals often aline with the chaos warriors.

I could not be MORE PLEASED with how this project turned out! What an absolute romp of gore and epic combat, with lots of delightful references scattered about. Y'all should be immensely proud of how Chaos Rising turned out! Also that diabolical creature turned out so mighty-good looking! Good thing man-sized rats are complete fables

This whole thing desperately needs to be picked up by some exec just so whoever wrote this line can do a thousand more. Comedy in serious media needs to be calculated, sparing, and above all, actually hilarious, and this is the perfect execution.
That Knight was my favorite guy in this whole movie.

Not bad at all for the budget. The action was pretty well done. The gore was pretty fun too. The costumes and sets were great. Looking forward to more work from these guys. Looks like skaven will be in the next episode.

11:19. I love how the storyteller ended his story on a such a realistic note. The humor is SO on point in this fan film. XD
The acting quality made the characters believable, giving depth to the story. I also enjoyed the photography and the visual effects are excellent. The directors knew exactly what they were doing. The umpteenth case that demonstrates how ability, ideas and passion outclass the economic investment. For what you've been able to do with your budget, you deserve an award. Hats off.
The best bit was when the chieftain says “The blood god may not care from where the blood flows but I do” It shows the Chaos Marauders as more than blood thirsty lunatics.
So i'm a stickler for fight choreography in films, and i must say that is heavily surpassed my expectations for a fan film here. I have legit seen hollywood productions that underperform with regards to this. Add to that the effects (who were decent by any standards, the gore was very believable and well implemented) and i feel like this is the best action we could have wished for.
But something i really wish to commend is the writing when it comes to the comedy. Warhammer always had its tongue in cheek sense of humor, and this movie utilized it so well. It would have been so easy to take itself overly serious, but this really hit that sweet spot of having genuine laughs without the humor detracting from whats going on on-screen.
Also that skaven 🤤
These guys have done fight scenes for dozens of Hollywood movies.
Usually there's a main actor licking the lens in the foreground and these fights are going on in the background. You just don't see them as they're not the focus of the scene.

You guys put War back in warhammer - and beautiful homages and easter eggs for the fans - this could become really popular, i wish you all best but no matter what never agree to a deal that can interrupt your creative decisions and process as this is near perfect.

you guys have brought real Warhammer to media and done it justice, the second the female peasant died brutally I knew you guys weren't gonna wimp out on anything and were dedicated, I said now this is Warhammer right here. I would say this is the live action equivalent of the Astarte's film and should set the bar for quality going forward, well done!
THIS WAS AMAZING! Im hoping that someone like Henry Cavill would see this, especially since he is making his own. If these guys had been directing the WITCHER who knows how much better the show would be and henry cavill and would still be Geralt! Cannot emphasize how much this movie means to me , the production value was immense. Think if this crew had even 100k the things they could accomplish! Thank you to them and everyone that worked on this for all their hardwork and hope that mores comes out of it!!!!

Melty face guy in the credits had me geeking. Over all fantastic “fan” film. I don’t need Hollywood and their infinite bank accounts I need passionate teams like this one. Amazing what was done, the whole thing was really well put together. The whole vibe was on point the whole time, the character development In such a short time and setting up for more chaos interaction, yes-yes!
those puppets - amazing set details. this is often how such projects fall or rise for me - in this case fitting to the title it did rise. Also i like the camera movement/cuts. Pretty fluent and most important not disorientating. Actors also did a stable job

I just stumbled across this masterpiece and my first thoughts were "ho, a fan-movie, lets hope it's not too awkward" and then when i goosebumps the first time i immersed myself completely. As Warhammer fan-films go, this went above and beyond... a scrappy, nasty, bone-crunching dark action-fantasy. This is how legends are born... Kevin Smith's tale began by going 18 grand into credit-card debt, after all.
The dark gods have so far prevented me from watching this masterpiece of fan art, but today it finally happened and I am thrilled!
Hopefully we will hear and see more from you in the future.

Aside from some choppy writing, this was pretty damn good. The combat and costumes were awesome, the story was felt very much like a snapshot of the world without going too deep/wide and the skaven was icing on the cake. Very cool to see this finally come together. Thank you for you hard work!

Its mostly Sci-fi that adapted some fantasy tropes. Afterall Sci - fi should explore concepts that may happen in the future or the consequences of technical or scientific developments. Its a mix of both, sometimes its very heavy on the science while sometimes its more fantasy leaning.

Unlike anything out of Hollywood for quite some time. This was good.
Bretonians being awful to their peasants, questing knights off doing lady of lake things while their land burns, and then getting wrecked in infantry vs infantry battle, the lore accuracy is amazing!
If this was in the box office, I would watch it. 11/10!
