I messed around with fireworks when I was in middle school in the 80's. Even went to Chinatown with friends to purchase M80's which were $5 a piece. Luckily, no injuries and now in my late 40's with a 12 year old son. I would not touch any fireworks these days even with a ten foot pole and I stress to my son as well. Losing fingers is something that is irreversible.
That homeowner was reckless. I used to live in westbury and when we did fireworks we did one at a time and when it was done we cleaned up. All those discarded boxes is pure insanity. I was never that reckless.
I saw this display last year. My daughter was at the party. It was insane. I never saw a fireworks show like it. But this was bound to happen. He could have scaled it down. They just went wayyyy overboard. I love fireworks, but this was too much. Plus. Must have cost a small fortune.
Leave it to professionals.

good report. why are the culprets nol being arrested and held responsible and accountable? fireworks are very dangerous and only trained professionals should be using them and making sure there is a safe distance between the public and the display.
Ok lady. After fireworks, what other laws do you want? After those, then what laws? And After those laws, then what laws do you make? Who enforces? They don't even enforce the laws on the books already! You know who follows rules? You. You know who pays for laws that you make? Everyone but you. People's sons and daughters pay for your rule enforcement. You make something criminal and all you do is raise the price on the black market.
@@damon2772nomad You must be an illiterate newbie. Fireworks are already illegal on Long Island, as they are in the rest of NY and NJ. The laws just need to be enforced more consistently, to discourage such widespread use. In particular, in Suffolk County at least, where this happened, it's out of control.

It is illegal but people will never learn until they get into trouble. Watch in 2025 what happens and hope they don’t start any fires as on the west coast.
The only problem here is that large fireworks in residential areas isn't a good idea... Move them to a large open area without a bunch of things that can catch fire.

@@salimrandall They can't because its too widespread. What they could do is put extra cars on duty on overtime that only answer fireworks calls on July 3 and July 5 and limit the use to the holiday so it is not a 3 day non stop barrage.

They are in NY. I used to have 4th fireworks parties, for years. Never had any police contact. Too many people doing it. Plus, you barely see Suffolk police on the roads . I think they hide behind buildings all day
Same authorities giving press conference knew about this before but did nothing to prevent it.
