This is the one too. Best story telling song ever in my opinion. I have always truly believed that you could take this song that is under 5 mins and make a 2 hour movie out of it without any problem. I can picture this song so vividly every time I hear it.
This song was storytelling perfection. First verse his boss gave him a job to do but he was planning a robbery. 2nd verse he gave the backstory of the dude that was gonna help him. 3rd verse the robbery.
Man, young man, I love how you react to this. Your comment on Biggie painting a picture and storytelling, is spot on, I was probably about your age, maybe slightly younger when this came out, I miss this time so much, the best hip hop time period was 1993-2003
Yup, B.I.G. is the GOAT storyteller. I heard a lot of rappers trying their hand at tracks like these, including Nas, obviously, however Big was effortless with it. This level has never been surpassed if you ask me. And Big had THREE of those GOAT storytelling tracks on Life After Death.
When he starts describing Arizona Ron and giving you his origin story....bro, it's like you're PICTURING EVERY DETAIL IN YOUR HEAD. Like a real live breathing character come to life. Incredible vivid imagery.
@@Mercury6_ now, before I say anything. How old are you? Also, a LOT of MC’s considered Slick Rick to be the great story teller of all time. I mean, that was his thing in hip hop. If you a younger dude, I get why you’d think so. To ME personally, I think slick is a better more consistent story teller. He has this dope 38 song mix of story telling style songs. He still be comin out with bangers too.
@@Mercury6_ to answer your question, I think Children’s Story is better. His verse on Auditorium is better. Mona Lisa. Street Talkin. That’s just me, and I’m a HUGE biggie fan lol BUT biggie sometimes gets off topic wit his stories. slick will stay on topic EVERYTIME.
@@WhosmanzYT ok so MC Ricky D is one of my all time favorite hip hop artist and biggie isn't but big's stories were more intricate and overall more engaging. but at the end of the day it's all subjective

Man !! U should listen to “ I got a story to tell “ I listen to that song about 20 times until this day I’m still amazed of what this guy actually meant and said he literally tells a story then tells you he’s telling you about a story it is on believable
@damerobin4037 Indeed. They BOTH had Jamaican roots as did most of the notable NYC MC'S from the 70's 80's and 90's.. (I'm a Trini myself, but respect must be given where respect is due!! Big Up Yardy massive!!)
As a teenager I was metal and rock... I hated rap... until I heard Born Again. It was like flipping a light switch. I know it word for word to this day and BIGGIE is the GOAT because rapping is the art of storytelling (a lot of similarities to true country on different levels). That flow, style, and mental illustration is unmatched. This is one of my favorite songs of his because it’s like you say... watching a movie in your mind, something like New Jack City in a few minute song. Try “Watchu Want” from Biggie Duets... still one of my favorite gym jams.
Lol oh man ... I love when you listen to BIGGIE lol he’s better than a lot of the young folk give him credit for man .. You should do UNBELIEVABLE brroooo Keep up the good work fam Great content
One of the best storytellers is Masta Ace as well. Falling Season is a great album that talks about his days in high school. Beautiful is a good song to react to from another good storytelling album. K-Rino also has dope storytelling stuff like Annihilation of Evil machine.
First time i ever noticed the hook flip, first hook that man life in my uands while he just deciding. And on the second Hook was my life in that man's hands while he's just deciding

Whole album is one big story. Breeze Brewin kills it as the main protagonist, but there's a lot of talented MC's playing the different roles
Wow biggies lyrics is like watching a gangster flick on audio he's telling his story of the streets how gutter it can be raw he is the best that ever held a 🎤 period.
You ain't lying young blood, that's my favorite B.I.G., but Nas is close. Listen to Blaze A 50, by NAS, story telling off the chain. Two of my favorites, of all time.
Element of Emceeing, if you like story tellers check out Slick Rick, Black Rob "RIP", Kurtis Blow n Melly Mell. A lot of true emcee's have great stories they have told also check out MC Eight CMW, he's known as the street reporter. Check out early Ice Cube, my favorites are once apon a time in the projects 1&2, Alive on arrival, n Summer Vacation that story kinda explains how Crips n Blood got sets across the country.
