I have to comfort myself that at least this is one of the recent C-dramas that dares to show the feelings of the two male leads to each other. I guess Yuzhi has to die to pass the censorship because it was too obvious that they love each other.
I think this show was so underrated and it did not get the exposure it should have. It is an awesome show!!! I am an international fan, so it was only by chance I came across this.
i have had great pleasure watching such a well acted show. IT is a lovely period piece, that all the actors depicted well. The fact that it is not a bl did not stop me watching, it was so beautiful, costumes and scenery very well shown for this era. JYL and CY are two of my all time asian favorite actors. Iv'e seen all their shows. Waiting for the bat. Blessings to you all.

I guess Yuzhi has to die to pass the censorship otherwise this drama will not be allowed to released. There are three persons that fell in love with Yuelou and the two girls already died. If Yuzhi was alive, that was too obvious that the story favored the relationship between the two boys. The only way for the director to tolerate the censorship is to let Yuzhi die but the viewers still feel that Yuelou only loves Yuzhi and loves him to the end.

For bl lovers, that may be not enough but for the censorship. I guess the directors also struggled for the ending. They did not want to let this project to be banned so they had to choose the painful ending.
