    I've found it very tough to find Houdini tutorials that don't leave me more confused than when I started, but I truly love this series, thank you,

    Thank you for tutorial! Got a problem when you're connecting the extruded table sides with "Keep Points Shared". I can't find the option in the parameters. I assume I have to add it through the parameters option, but I don't know how.

    I followed along and double checked but for some reason the normals on the table legs end up facing inwards for me, and I have to use a reverse node to get them back to face outward.

    Wow, you have made modeling a simple table, complicated! Houdini is off my Christmas list

    What numbers you type and where 1:36.I just wanted just try apprentice version. For Cinema 4D user the gui is bit different. I cannot see any color in grid, where I can change it?

    Wonderful! I never liked Houdini because it is not as intuitive as Modo or Maya but this really helps!

    Hi oscaro, it is with great pleasure that I followed your tutorial. my difficulty lies in the use of polyExtrude. in this tutorial you use an older version of Houdini (14, I think) in which the properties of polyExtrude are different from those of the version 16 of houdini I use. can you do a tutorial where you go explain the method with the polyExtrude 2.0 thanks

    My opinion is the best 3D software ever is 3D max and Zbrush and Cinema 4D

    Making something more complex will turn that node editor into a nightmare... Why complicate things for no reason?

    • @Eosacro
      @Eosacro  9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Advection357 Well it might turn things quite hairy is an understatement.
      Making complex things might be very complicated in the beginning, but the amount of flexibility this provides, especially regarding how easy it is to change anything you might have not thought of in the beginning, is in IMHO definitely worth the nightmare.
      Apart from that, I find the process of figuring out how to get something specific working, the breakdown, the logic to be an exhilarating process. Its fun! :)

      Ah forgot about this comment now that I'm getting into Houdini lol...
      Seems like it's not an issue... I can just collapse/lock the nodes anyway. It's nice because I assumed all those 100's of modelling operators were going to get re-evaluated all the time... which would be insane... that's like not freezing your operator stack in Softimage... or not converting to polymesh after lots of modifiers in 3ds max

    It takes less than 2 minutes to model a table in any other 3D programs. Imagine trying to model a character in Houdini.

    • @mborok
      @mborok 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I suspect you could model this table in Houdini in under 2 minutes as well, but the creator of this tutorial wanted to cover as many features as possible. It’s been a while since I opened the program, but I presume it has a cube primitive and a scale operation, which is all you need.

    • @madlowles
      @madlowles 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's called a tutorial mate.... teaching people how to do it, running through why he is choosing each parameter so we can learn. Houdini pro's could make the table in less than 2 minutes easily. You also seem to be missing the point that Houdini is not really designed around detailed modelling, it's more for VFX and procedural modelling. You can also always build your detailed model in other 3D programs and import them very easily if that's what you require....

    • @xl000
      @xl000 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't end up with a procedural table though in " other 3d programs"
      You don't even have a graph, just a stack of modifiers. Good luck with that. I'll stick with Houdini.
