As per the old texts, KanyaDaan actually doesn't mean Kanya ka daan, it's Gotr Daan, i.e, Kanya kE GOTR KA DAAN. This Daan is considered as the purest form of Daan, because Kanya is called the Laxmi of the house and and is most lovable and precious to her father. The Groom is considered as Narayan. That's why giving away the hand of most precious person(Laxmi) of Ur life to another man is a true Daan. Here DAAN doesn't mean charity. The sanskrit word Daan doesn't have any exact English translation. Daan has been derived from the word BALIDAAN, where Raja Bali gave his most precious thing, i.e his life as DAAN. Why is her identity treated like an object which gets transferred frm father to that of husband. Kanyadaan is in no way what you mentioned. It has a pretty simple meaning and it's mentioned in the name itself. Where I live, Kanyadaan is considered as one of the highest honour which grants you the Punya which directly translates to thr fact that every couple should have a girl child. (Kanyadaan is usually done by a couple, but if only single parent is available then it's also permitted.)

Please don't talk about Love of parents etc. That's simply not the reality and you know it very well as the Mediaeval and contemporary era is the testimony. This is something confirmed by my father too who has 2 daughters. Parents treat their kids as accessories for their old age which is basically against the ancient tradition of them leaving the home and taking Sanyas.

Kanyadaan is in no way what you mentioned. It has a pretty simple meaning and it's mentioned in the name itself. Where I live, Kanyadaan is considered as one of the highest honour which grants you the Punya which directly translates to thr fact that every couple should have a girl child. (Kanyadaan is usually done by a couple, but if only single parent is available then it's also permitted.)

The reason being, them having no self knowledge of who they are but are seen as properties of others. Look at the roots,, it's considered the highest donation because a girl is being given away, as written in ancient texts, woman have no self value but are treated and grown up to and taught to be properties of others. 📌📌📌Pardon, but Kanyadaan 1000ron saal pehle kabhi galat concept nahi tha, bojh wagerah wala. In fact it was in 18th and 19th century when this became bad to some extent. Because in my society it is considered as blessing, where people fight to do it. It's a way to express the love of girl child to someone who's marry her. It's a way where parents feel proud if they want to attaint the biggest " Punya " they can only attain through Girl child not through boy.
12:18 in the beginning kanyadan was not about regarding daughter as a liability, but this practice was regarded as a favour done by the girl's family to the boy's family. And dowry was given to the daughter for her personal financial security. These logical practices were maligned by the people over time. Old is not always bad.

And in the whole process kanyadan is not even mentioned one time when the ritual performer perform the whole process and for your help even lord krishna was not even favour of this word.

Kanyadaan in our tradition means a big thing it is considered a biggest daan of all daan and dharam one does. Those who are lucky only those are able to do this daan it means , O Son we are giving you our daughter who we have given lot of love and proper nurishment all our sanskar we we will come to your home. Kanyyaandaan is not an individual karma its is for both- parents.
It's done only by male members because females are temporary members and the family name basically passes down on the paternal side ...
Secondly, This daan is the reason girls are treated as secondary because they will leave their parents and be of NO USE. On the other hand, Males will earn, care and carry forward the lineage.
Please don't talk about Love of parents etc. That's simply not the reality and you know it very well as the Mediaeval and contemporary era is the testimony.
This is something confirmed by my father too who has 2 daughters.
Parents treat their kids as accessories for their old age which is basically against the ancient tradition of them leaving the home and taking Sanyas.
