KanyaDaan has been misunderstood over the years. The people who were poor back then they treated their daughters as bojh. Even they misconceptualised it. As per the old texts, KanyaDaan actually doesn't mean Kanya ka daan, it's Gotr Daan, i.e, Kanya kE GOTR KA DAAN. This Daan is considered as the purest form of Daan, because Kanya is called the Laxmi of the house and and is most lovable and precious to her father. The Groom is considered as Narayan. That's why giving away the hand of most precious person(Laxmi) of Ur life to another man is a true Daan. Here DAAN doesn't mean charity. The sanskrit word Daan doesn't have any exact English translation. Daan has been derived from the word BALIDAAN, where Raja Bali gave his most precious thing, i.e his life as DAAN. How does this explanation make it better? Your explanation also shows that women has no identity of her own. Why is her identity treated like an object which gets transferred frm father to that of husband. This is the basic idea due to which we have practices where she is not the decision maker of her life, also she could not inherit property in those times because her gotra is donated at the time of marriage. Equality and hiring a full female crew is related Shan. Equality steps in in this because is never been considered normal for women to work, they didn’t get their due opportunities, so by hiring a full female crew u try to remove that historical disadvantage and today bring women up to the level of men. Same about the female pandit thing. Yes the comfort point I agree with. Idk how her husband really meant comfort it was vague.

I agree with you. This show is way too much tati. I was so much expecting from this show and kya hi mila. Sabse bekar chiz ye hai ki not following traditions is cool! Kbse bhai?? I agree with every word you said!
Kanyadaan is in no way what you mentioned. It has a pretty simple meaning and it's mentioned in the name itself. Where I live, Kanyadaan is considered as one of the highest honour which grants you the Punya which directly translates to thr fact that every couple should have a girl child. (Kanyadaan is usually done by a couple, but if only single parent is available then it's also permitted.)
@Anian anian the roots of kanyadaan lie in considering woman as an object to be given away, since ANCIENT times. Woman have been considered and called "parai" for a reason. The reason being, them having no self knowledge of who they are but are seen as properties of others. Look at the roots,, it's considered the highest donation because a girl is being given away, as written in ancient texts, woman have no self value but are treated and grown up to and taught to be properties of others. THAT'S why. Stop justifying such disgusting ritual, specially when you are a man.

I would have loved if they made series on normal indian familes who sacrifice so much for a Indian wedding.. there are people who even sell their land and properties (which is not good but that what it is ) for a wedding.. 99 percent of Indians do not even relate with this show .
People selling land for weddings is even worse than this show. Here people are spending money they have. People who sell their land to get children married are being insane . What is so great about such wedding? Why not make shows about simple weddings where people only spend what they can without causing hardships to themselves and their family in future.
The meaning of kanyadan means is not just take it away our girl actually the main concept is with gotr shifting if you gotr is parashar and the girl you are marrying is upadhyaye that time the parents of girl will allow the priest to do ceremony of changing the girls gotr that's it .
The Money they spent or I say wasted on these Weddings. It would have helped hundreds of poor parents to get their children married without any issues.

Bilkul sahi bhai, aur real life me bhi koi hindu culture ke bare me gyaan bate to uski wahi utaro jaam ke.. I do the same. Iska imapct padta hai society me
📌📌📌Pardon, but Kanyadaan 1000ron saal pehle kabhi galat concept nahi tha, bojh wagerah wala. In fact it was in 18th and 19th century when this became bad to some extent. Because in my society it is considered as blessing, where people fight to do it. It's a way to express the love of girl child to someone who's marry her. It's a way where parents feel proud if they want to attaint the biggest " Punya " they can only attain through Girl child not through boy.
Kanyadana is an emotion. People just create a fuss about everything. Those who have studied and understand the concept will know that it is NOT a Daan (charity) and I am sure Nobody would want to give away their daughters in the right state of mind. Those who have witnessed the ritual know the emotion connected to it.
Kanyadaan literally means giving away your daughter. Are you fcking stupid?? That treats women like objects for them to be "given away" thank god in my family nowadays every marriage EXCLUDES kanyadan
And kanya daan don't means a girl is burden on him it's the feeling of mentally sick people not a illiterate people. It's simply means I am donating my responsibilities to bride now it's your responsibility to keep her happy. Its no where means that a girl is burden and I am giving you my burden.from starting to till now it doesn't represents a girl as a burden. That's why kanyadaan dunya ka sabse bada daan mana jata hai. It's my thinking and I am not here for starting an useless debate
My wife earns more than me. I definitely don't have a problem and I am quiet by this fact too, but now I have a problem because she is not happy with this fact that she earns more than me so I am not a match to her anymore and she is stuck with me. She is thinking over her next step now. P.S. before marriage I used to earn double than her😭
Hi Shan , I really enjoy watching all of your videos and you are very very funny . I don't know if you will read this but I hope you do just to see the same situation from a different perspective . I agree with a lot of points you made in this video except for one . In my opinion equality is not to draw a same basic starting point for everybody and measuring them from there . Equality is when you empower the weaker and give strength the the weaker to be able to match with the competition . We still have cast related quota's in India became of how badly people of upper cast mistreated people of lower cast . So the government decided to give them extra benifit to encourage and bring them to the same level . Same goes with women, I find it hurtful when you called some girls in this video pseudo feminist just because she would prefer to work with a women then a man with the same qualifications or prefer to have a female pandit . A male pandit or a man with qualifications will find opportunities regardless . But it's not as easy or as simple for a woman , atleast was not for many many many years . So if as a woman who can understand the true pain of being oppressed or rejected has the power now to empower another women and make opportunities for her ,it's not wrong . It's not fake feminism . We as women have a very strong relatability factor when it comes to inequality . I agree it can be tough for men to understand it like we do or be in our shoes . All I am trying to say is if I want to hier a female pandit for my wedding it's because I want to encourage her and empower her not to show any inequality towards the male pandit .
@@aspirant9845 I cannot argue with someone who has difficulty understanding different perspectives or basic logic. If in your opinion it's inequality so be it. buhbye
Most couples only wasted the hard earned money if their parents, the first two episodes were serious cringe. Loved Daniel and Tyrone wedding for it's simplicity and honest emotions
why can't she take her own responsibility, why do she have to be dependent on a man her whole life. And if marriage is about transfer of responsibilities then why the groom is not donated or sacrificed(daan)

@@mehakgoyal2563 see, now I don't have answer for why girl has to leave her house and go to her husband's home. But what I know is since SHE is leaving her house with someone that's why it is or was called kanyadaan. It's not about complete dependency on husband. Even during vedik era, where women were equally knowledgeable, equally took part in battlefields, but then also somehow financial dependency might have been there. Nowadays, women are financially independent. That's brilliant. I was not talking that transferring of responsibilities is true for even today, but was just opining that kanyadaan never translated to objectification of women. People took it in wrong way, that's a whole different story.
I have been married since 1.5 years and we never even registered the salary difference. This is the first time I even thought about it listening to you. So I think it is all about ur partner.
Equality and wanting an all female crew do not contradict each other in this time and age. This show was a rich Indian coconut drama but but this one topic is true. You live in world where almost always these people you work with are men. You say agar koi admi Aisa bolta bawal hojata but truly speaking, men DO that, which is why women are not taken seriously at their jobs.
Mehengi shaadiyon karna logo ne ek trend bna diya hai and maybe ye kuch logo ko romantic ya fairytale type lgta hoga but this is a bigger problem. It is a well studied fact that only after colonialism the concepts like 'kanyadana' and dowry systems became unpleasant practice and the sense around it changed a lot. Ancient India is not as patriarchal as it is portrayed now a days. Ancient explorers and scholar during their visit to India in 1-500 AD mentioned complete absence of dowry system which was a common practice in the west back then.

Huge love and respect... 💯
Kanya daan is now termed as "Hast milap" and it has very nice significance in marriage.
You said my mind , exactly these thoughts were coming to me while watching show
One side we have people in this pandemic who have lost their lives , jobs, and much more... and seeing this absurdity is soo much frustrating....
Okay so I'll hire a full female crew for cleaning of my toilet for whole of my life nice na??
Let's promote equality....yu hooo
Some say, India's most powerful weapon is nuclear power.
In reality, if we make a DVD with Four More shots, Indian matchmaking, Fabulous life of B'wood wives and The Big Day combined, am sure we could even invade Jupiter.😇
lol we can destroy Jupiter with that power xD
LOL I'm happy That Thanos wasn't Indian And didn't knew About these powers🤣
Damn, that combination will create supernova exploding entire solar system 💣🔥💥💥💥💥

Rich people and their pretentiousness
When I watched this show.. I was like our country has actually gone to the dogs!
Money spent on the education~ money wasted!
🤦♀️
Just like all of US, Shan is also still traumatized after Four more shots season 2. We feel same Shan!!!
@@vivantae How many ancient texts have you read?
Kanyadaan is done only by Father... If not then any male member...
Females aren't involved in that

You are soo sensible. The kandyadaan point is soo true..
Zodiac is very underrated David Fincher film.
Thank you for recommending it to others.
Also One Punch Man ❤️

I've seen a lot of reviews of this show and your one is the only detailed one..wish I could give a hundred likes to this video
The meaning of kanyadan means is not just take it away our girl actually the main concept is with gotr shifting if you gotr is parashar and the girl you are marrying is upadhyaye that time the parents of girl will allow the priest to do ceremony of changing the girls gotr that's it .
21 dislikes are the family members of those couples😂😂😂
TH-cam is so much boring nowadays ....ur shows r the spice of uthub
Shantanu's dialogue at 1:00 was an inspiration for Selmon bhai's dialogue in Radhe🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Shantanu for reviewing this Tattey shot series for us 😂
After your review, I think it's safe to directly watch episode 3 👍👍👍

Take a shot everytime Shan says *"Woke"* .
Haha! Great reaction 👏🏻

You said the truth. Hats off. Playing with our marriage traditions is something that hurt me
The Money they spent or I say wasted on these Weddings. It would have helped hundreds of poor parents to get their children married without any issues.
Seems like you're never getting over the trauma of 4 more shots 😭😭
Very nicely done. It is a very subtle attempt to break our society and families.
Also I thought that Netflix is full of tatty show who only want to defame the india and indian culture please I think we don't have to tolerate these kind of show please don't visit Netflix ever for these kind of show
And I also think that shan should also don't watch these types of tatti's
Kanyadaan and Go daan mantra is the same.
Kanya daan is giving away your daughter.
@Amandeep Wahi mtlb kuch bhi😂😂
I'm glad I found this channel.
P.s. please keep giving these recommendations at the end👍
My wife earns more than me. I definitely don't have a problem and I am quiet by this fact too, but now I have a problem because she is not happy with this fact that she earns more than me so I am not a match to her anymore and she is stuck with me. She is thinking over her next step now.
P.S. before marriage I used to earn double than her😭
Ur POV on pseudo feminism is so perfect 👍

Stumbled upon this channel first time, nice content !!
Completely WORTH !!
But it is inequality towards male pandit
@@aspirant9845 I cannot argue with someone who has difficulty understanding different perspectives or basic logic.
If in your opinion it's inequality so be it. buhbye
@@durga351 that's what I expect from a feminist

kanyadaan me aajkal ladki daan nahi ki jaati, but its a transfer of responsibility of making sure that the girl is happy from her dad to her husband
I think, aaj Kal hi Nahi, the true sense of kanyadaan was always transferring the responsibilities, never as an objectification of woman.
@@tanmayjhala9 are toh vhi bt h na aurat kyu responsiblity h admi kyu nhi aurat bhi toh le rhi h husband ki toh ladka daan kyu nhi h
why can't she take her own responsibility, why do she have to be dependent on a man her whole life. And if marriage is about transfer of responsibilities then why the groom is not donated or sacrificed(daan)
@@mehakgoyal2563 in a relationship people are responsibility of each other, n why groom isnt donated, u must be the type of people who ask why bride has to go to groom's house n not the other way around, its just how its been done n u wanna change it u can
@@mehakgoyal2563 see, now I don't have answer for why girl has to leave her house and go to her husband's home.
I've heard many of my close relatives saying are ajkl to shaadi ek dikhava hi hogaya hai kon kitni badi krega usi ki jyada izzat h , samaj me nam h aur kuch bewkuf log 1-1 crore ka dahej dete hai fir jo nahi de pate unhe sunna padta hai. Are bhai band kro🙏 shaadi jse karni h karo but uska prachar aise mat kro jaise samaj ka bhala kiya ho🙏 shaadi me crores khrch karna koi achievement nahi hai 👍 Also Shantanu rocks as always!🎉
