Delightful. Thanks. This 16-bar blues song, played in F, is on the band's 2019 CD [Some Kind-a-Shake]. Greg and Erika indeed follow the 1950 recording by Blind Willie McTell, though the original 'Midnight Hour Blues' was recorded (in the key of E flat) by Leroy Carr and Scrapper Blackwell in 1932, and composed by Scrapper Blackwell, probably with help from his sister Mae Malone. Tuba Skinny are fond of 'Midnight' tunes. They also play 'Midnight Stomp' and 'Midnight Blues'.
Thanks for your insight and historical context around this song. Its good to know the pedigree of where songs came from and who originally wrote the song. Cheers!
A great set from TS. I went to N.O. three weeks ago and went to two TS concerts and loved them. Now here they are 30 miles from my home and once again they did not disappoint. Great to have Erika back too. Thank you Sandy I guess I was setting very near you.
Thanks a lot for filming and sharing here. Maybe one of their most beautiful tunes at all and a legendary vocal duet in musical history in my opinion. Bravo Erika and Greg. ❤ Nice greetings from Germany. Dave 🫶
Yes, I have two more that I will post soon. Y’all were a breath of fresh air at the Kerrville Folk Festival. Thank you for showing up!
One fine old song done just right.
Glad I got to experience this fine old song performed by a fine old assemble.

If you were at the Kerrville Folk Festival, you certainly were very close to me during the concert. Cheers!
Tuba Shinny. Wow, they look just like Tuba Skinny.

Kerrville? I'm right down the road, in San Antonio. How I'd liked to have been there. How did TS not perform in big-city San Antonio?
Thanks a lot for sharing! The song is called Wee Midnight Hours. Hope you have something else from this wonderful set (06/02/2024).
You got it!
Wonderful, as always!
Thank you! Cheers!
I would love to listen to a good recording of this. Very nice!

#14 on the "Some Kind-a-Shake" album (2019)
They're always perfect - you might want to change the headline.
