I'm so glad that you exist. I have been in therapy since I was fifteen, so maybe seven years now. Gone through about four or five therapists. Nothing makes me feel more cheap and used and uncared for than when I finally open up and then get told "it's time to stop for today". Nothing makes me less comfortable than talking about my private feelings while the therapist is typing it all up in my file. I was spiritual since I was a kid, but the void in therapy is what made me find druidry, tarot, meditation, etc. I love you because you do your counseling in the way I always wanted to, before even needing therapy, or discovering tarot. I love you more because the way you do your counselling is exactly what I have been needing lately now more than ever. You are truly a guide and not a cold face staring back at me in a dusty office. I can't wait to get my first reading from you. I'm just not sure exactly where I need to start. But I know you will be there when I am ready for an ally.

Winner of a video, I been tryin to find out about "owl energy spiritual" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Banulian Lonameron Breakthrough - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my co-worker got amazing results with it.

Hello Chickens!! Is one of my favorites :D And I love the thought of communicating as Fellow Travelers. When I was working for the juvenile department (Shelter, Detention, & Probation areas), there was a lot of contradictory information and relationships that you were allowed to build or counsel or be a part of, and they didn't make much sense to me either. We weren't supposed to be attached, but we were supposed to build confidence/trust with the relationship, which to me, defeated the purpose because you need both.. much like you were talking about. I didn't want to be just lip service.

This is all very interesting to me. I have been through my own things, and therapy did help on some level, but I found a lot of the spiritual journey that has helped me the most I had to do on my own, sort of muddling through. Which I don't regret at all! It's just a shame though that my therapist didn't include that. I'd love to actually help people with Tarot because it is helping me like crazy in my own personal workings.

I love pet names. "Pop tarts" is my favorite :D Great nail varnish color! I say this about you all the time, but it's bang on--you are the SHIZ.
Ah! "Holding Space"--I could not remember that phrase. Things to think on...

I always wanted to be a therapist of sorts.. as a kid... always...but i was so turned off by psychology in college. i never even heard of jung until after i dropped out..(just as an example of the juiciest stuff out there). i have to say that after my samhain reading with you... it was SO valuable and continues to be weeks later. I think you're a very valuable asset to the healing world. =)

You took psychology in college and never heard of Jung?

    • @RunninUpThatHillh

well... he was mentioned once, i think. as a side-note to freud. but yeah, 4- year private school and nothing exciting.

LucisFerre1 Yeah. Green Mountain College in VT. LOL Luckily I'm from a poorer family and got in on grants; it's expensive there. TBH I only went through the 200-level psych classes. But still. This is why I unschool my own kids..so they can learn relevant things..then one day go to college just to jump through the hoops for an awesome job. What I learned about Jung in college was like, "oh this little rebel thought this."..and that was it. There wasn't any serious tone around his material nor was there any depth to it.

Thanks for outlining this. You really net out the differences between traditional and spiritual psychotherapy so clearly. I love the way you articulate things. (love the pet names too ;-) Are you also familiar with A course in miracles ? It is also a form of "spiritual psychotherapy" though not for everyone's taste or spiritual path; and some people are turned off by the "Christian" language, but it's by no means Christian-centric. It's definitely interesting. I was wondering what books you'd recommend as a primer to Jung -- which is piquing my interest lately, but not sure where to start! Thankee!!

Always LOVE your vids and approach!
Just a teeny tiny weedley thing, behaviourists are all about conditioning and the potential of reconditioning, what they don't take into account of is any conscious awareness of these processes (or any state of consciousness). I'm pretty sure you'll know this though and it just came out a little vague. Sorry- I'm a psychology-nazi *hangs head in shame*... But seriously, being a lover of psychology and tarot you're like the soda stream to my juice!!!! xx

You know, funnily enough I don't recall mentioning behaviourism at all in this video, although I've no doubt that I did. But short of watching the entire video from beginning to end, I'd struggle to find the exact point at which I referenced it. It's not my strong point, admittedly, so my description was probably really ham-fisted. Thanks for putting me in my place. ;) Don't feel ashamed of your Nazism, hehe. You should totally embrace that. x

Anyone, especially a guy, who doesn't like an affectionate nickname used in a thank you has something seriously wrong with them. Feminists dislike it because they're generally unpleasant people. As an american man, I ask how can it possibly be "rude" to show pleasant and playful affection towards someone when telling them thank you for a kind gesture? Being reserved is one thing, but being closed off to someone who is vibrant and living in the hear and now is to have something seriously wrong with their emotionality. By "wrong" I mean unhealthy and counterproductive to making connections with other living souls.

Hi Kelly, I disagree with the part you talk about the counselling being cold etc. I am a private therapist who currently practices person-centred therapy and I have received therapy from many different therapists and what I notice the difference is usually whether it is private or prescribed. I think you're describing psychoanalysis as traditional counselling here as there are many branches of approaches to counselling and therapy, the main three are Freudian, behavioural, and person-centred. All are extremely different. I and many others who I've worked with or just spoken to, feel private therapy is much different and more helpful simply because there are not those external pressures and the relationship can truly be all it can be. Therapist and client are able to build a real, caring and warm relationship and be inspired by the therapist or each other as the case usually is. I would encourage anyone thinking about therapy to speak with the therapist first (most will welcome a phone call for info finding) and ask them what styles of therapy they offer and how they might work with you. Existential therapy is very helpful for spiritual growth as well. Just wanted to share what I've noticed, enjoyed this video, especially the fellow travellers, counsellors should walk alongside the client, one step behind as person-centred posits and focusing is a skill of a therapist. The non judgemental attitude you describe is all a core part of person centred and that is a traditional counselling approach. I just don't want people to become confused as you are describing a traditional counselling approach. Please note there are 3 and all are different from each other. Blessed be :)

There are a few things I would probably state differently now that near enough four years have past, to be honest. Without rewatching the video, I wouldn’t want to list the specific things I would change but I have no problem believing that I could have been more nuanced, more clear or even just more accurate.
