Usually the oem manufacturer recommends first tank oil mixture to be mixed heavy to break in and lubricate everything properly 🤙
There is no reason for it in reality though. Just run 32:1 with a good oil, jet the carb, (they are always rich off the floor for carbed 2-strokes), and race it.
I do port 2-stroke engines for a living and use a dyno. I will jet a new engine on the dyno, and beat the heck out of it to seat the rings to the cylinder as quickly as possible. That is the only par that really "breaks in", and it is better to get the rings sealing all around the bore as quickly as possible. For that, the higher the cylinder pressure the better for ring break in. That means ride it where the most power is at. Just get it jetted well first. Pro mechanics used to install new rings on race day, put them together dry, (no oil on the ring/piston, cylinder), and seat the rings during practice to be ready to race that day. There are as many "break in procedures" as people can think of. But not many actually have valid reasoning in reality to back up what they claim.

Speaking as a guy with plenty of experience with riding, and 10 years of MX racing from 1976 to today,---the modern YZ 2-strokes are too damn tall today, (taller than most 4-strokes, including the YZF250.). My 2019 YZ250 2-stroke was the worst set up bike I ever bought, and MXA was no help at all, (MXA used to be a great magazine, and you knew what you were buying.). I cut 1" off my seat, (not sure if you can do that with the new thin seat.), and took .75" off the suspension at both ends. Now it is a bike that is built properly on the basics of physics and human size.
I also can't stand abstract art for plastic, and that crap has no place on my functional dirt bike. I put on a 2014 after market front fender, (2014 OEM fenders are junk/twisted, and a total rip off for even the dealer who can not get a refund), after I milled in the hole locations, and cut that stupid arrow tip off the back of my fender. The pointy number plates are the next to get whacked. Other than the brakes and better suspension today on the YZ's, (especially the forks), I liked the bikes from the late 80's and early 90's much better.
I am a bit heavier than in the past, so I knew I would have to upgrade the suspension springs,---but my bike was un-ride-able as a stock bike for me. I have never bought a new MX bike before that was un-ride-able. before the modern YZ 2-strokes. Good thing I know how to fix all of it. It will be the last bike It buy.
9 grand is about a 27% inflation in under a year,------tax. Enjoy it. It may be your last bike too.
