I was thinking that they could've communicated more clearly, like giving a timeline on when he thinks he could buy her a comb and how much it would cost to fix his watch and ask her how much would the comb cost. Does that make sense?😊

In that story, the couple is poor, but the husband has a beautiful gold watch that is a cherished heirloom and the wife has beautiful long hair that people envy. They want to give each other a special gift for Christmas. He secretly sells his watch to buy her combs for her long hair and she secretly sells her hair to buy him a beautiful gold chain for his watch.
