@@MattiasHolmgren Hi again, yes I do have a CS bought three years ago and did just one try and loved it: th-cam.com/video/wrtD6jtDr9U/w-d-xo.html (initial keyboard chords recorded in the kaoss oscillator looper and also lead you hear on the video was played with CS) since then had not chance to use it again because of my full time job but watching your video really motivate me to try again. Men tackar för feedbacken! Ja jag tyckte det vore en bra ide att faktiskt visa lite mer handson hur jag använder instrumentet. Yamaha Reface serien är små men guld i ljudet. 👌🥳
I made a small midi device (midi goblin...videos on my channel) that can save patches for the reface cs, yc, cp (havnt tried dx yet) It can do quite a few other things as well (chord generator, sequencer, arpeggios...other things) and it only exists because of the cs. It was my first synth and is still my favorite. Genuinely amazing little synthesizer.
I bought rhe yamaha cs 3 months ago. I used it briefly back then. I was sure how get better sounds out it. I start using it again today and found your video which helps me a lot. thanks

🎉 totally understand, its such an amazing small synth! Probably the most accessible I owned so far. And can still do very big cinematic sounds! 100% awesome! 😄👌
I love my CS - it's the first synth I reach for when I'm in the flow so I don't lose momentum (so quick to dial in sounds). I usually intend to go back later with a "slower" synth but it's not unusual that I keep the CS track.
Great video. Your right its an extremely versatile instrument you can compose an entire track with, The limitations are yourself and your ability. So many sweetspots.
I got one last December as my first hardware synthesizer. Glad I did because you don't get them here where I live anymore, unless you order from Japan and then the price goes up a bit.
Congrats, yeah prices has increased everywhere. I’m glad the Refaces was available at my local store. Bought the Yamaha Reface CP at the same time. Both are great small instruments. I wish we could get more small tight synths with battery. Seems not many companies dare battle the kings.
@@MattiasHolmgren Oh yes the CP is definitively my next Synth I would like to get. It has such wonderful sounds. You guys are so spoiled over there in EU and US.
If you do use alot of rhodes / key sounds in compositions. CP. if you want a superb virtual analog synth that sounds exactly like analog CS. Yamaha Reface CS was nr.1 on my list since its more versatile sound design tool. But I bought both at the same time because I couldn’t help myself and I use a ton of rhodes in my compositions. Did that help you in any way? 😁🤷♂️🎸☕️
I'm about to buy this synth. This is the most helpful video I've seen so far! Thanks for showing how you made the sounds and also suggesting further possibilities. An idea could be trying to make sounds similar to some songs. Not necessary to be exactly the same. Just to show how this synth could be used in songs.
The CS does have some sweet onboard effects, but they only take you so far. Bundling the CS with something like a Zoom MS70CDR really opens up tons of sound worlds. It's a beast! Yeah I'm thinking of making more CS content because its so fun to work with.
Thank you for this great video. I'm very interested in synths but as a newbie most of these things don't tell me a lot. Your video, ade some things a little bit more clear. Thanks.
Glad to help! I know what it feels like to begin the discovery of synthesis. It takes a while to get used to all the concepts. You'll get there in no-time. I'm happy to be able to guide you in the journey as much as I can.
Awesome. Please can you anyone help with the list of accessories connected and their purpose? I am a complete noob trying to enter the world of Synth. Planning to get buy this as my first Synth. Thanks
Absolutely. I'm using the Reface CS, connected via two tele cables (1/4 inch instrument cables) into two separate inputs of my audio interface (Zen Tour from Antelope Audio). When I add the Zoom MS70CDR effect I connect the output from the Reface CS into the stereo input of the ZOom effect. Then the stereo output s (also via 2 tele cables) from the Zoom into the audio interface.... I connect to the audio interface to be able to record the audio into my DAW on the computer. Maybe an alternative, why not just mention the iPad on its own… that’s also an alternative. 😋 But Yamaha Reface synths works OOB in the sofa with its built in speaker. No need for extra gear… or app fiddling. Just turn on and play away. iPad is cool too though, but no keys and not the same tactile feel or real knobs n faders.

Ableton has a nice arsenal of soft instruments that could make similar sounds, yes! What makes the Reface CS awesome is the tactile feel and accessible knobs. But with software instruments you can make changes forever….for better or worse 😄💎🥁
You save the sounds to a mobile app, a bit fiddly bit works. Its an excellent synth for the price. Power via battery or adapter. Usb powering tend to introduce noise in audio gear.
