Are you going to continue doing digital art or are you going to focus on traditional art from now on?
how long have you two been dating?
How did you decide on your animated depictions? do they have any secret meanings?
Daidus' grape actually looks good from afar. His 'art school' kinda shows up in that style
Is it just me, or do both grapes look like purple balloons?
@@saudimagbanua9035that’s what i thought!
@@saudimagbanua9035 I thought Emily's looked more like a balloon and Daidus' looked more like a grape (he really ought to stop beating up on himself, his art style or art explorations really come out looking amazing. Granted, I've heard it said that artists are their biggest critics, lol). Both looked great to me, especially as I'm not an artist 😅
I feel like realistic artstyles want more symmetry and more animated/sticker styles strive for more organic shapes/coloring. It’s so fascinating fr
Fr. Bcs how they teach us to use colors to make it more "alive" in the academic pictorial art.
daidus openly admitting to eating cherry pits when they have cyanide in them is so on brand
I used to eat all of the cherry pits in like half a bag in a day lmao. I never realized they had cyanide in them until my grandfather told me.
How tf do you chew that
Surely its like apple seed tho where you’d need to eat loads of
@@lordofgraphiteYou need to eat more than 20-30 for it to be dangerous, so yeah it’s the same
@@ha1hy291 I just swallowed them, I assume that is what Daidus does lmao. Its just a pain in the ass to take them out and put them in a napkin or the trash.
Daidus wasn’t kidding about how he draws everything fat 💀 just look at that juicy grape
Daidus went so wild with his grape it turned into watercoloured painting.
Lol it looked very good tbh
it does look like a painting, it's great!
I actually loved daidus's grape it looks like a dreamy planet its pretty.
It looks very fresh
I really love it too. It makes me think of like a cute alien/pokemon egg
I UNDERSTAND DAIDUS' STRUGGLE SO MUCH because everytime I try that "clean" cartoony style with like, clean lines and colours I just do not have the patience of correct skill so I end up with the "messier" and subsequently more realistic style, which is cool and all, BUT NOT THE CORRECT VIBE.
SO UNBELIEVABLY REAL, UGHHH
Whenever I try my lineart is SO bad😭 I have no clue how other get lineart that’s clean yet fluid
THIS IS TOO REAL BRUH
Maybe try drawing smaller? Then you will have enough patience
@@miraculousglitter123 I already draw small and ot till does not help ToT
I actually love how Daidus blends his copics, even tho it seems "messy" in comparison to Emily's it's also super dreamy/ethereal looking!! And Emily's also look so clean and precise, sorta like a sticker like they said. Both of their art styles fit their personalities so well ^^
I love the difference between Daidus and Emily’s approaches to the exercises. Emily is very much by the book (literally), precise and delicate, and a bit afraid to play with colour. Whereas, Daidus likes to experiment with colour and bold choices, going more by eye. They bounce off of each other really well because of this!!
I think Emily is really good at following the book's instructions, but Daidus is really good at winging it. (and making all his fruits omega bobega)
Emily's technique and neatness really shines through haha it's like her fruit looks "clean" the whole way through and Daidus' fruit suddenly comes together at the last moment
I prefer winging it too since I've noticed that my art looks better when I do.
And with markers, using more layers of different colors help (like in Daidus's case) to blend it in and make it look more realistic I guess 😅
@@jenmiranda13personally, I love giving everything I draw a rainbow hue! If it’s purple, I’ll add reds, pinks blues, greens and more!
@@stitchgor3 what I love is making gradients. It's just a pain finding the right marker 😅 and I've even been able to use dying markers for texture.
Like I had some old green markers lying around that barely had ink. So what I did was use a light green marker as the base and draw some grass looking lines, used the dying markers for texture and added a darker green towards the bottom so I can still see the texture. It's fun
@@jenmiranda13 ooo wow cool!
Daidus: Wow you won’t even compliment my grape
Emily: *gives a compliment*
Daidus: STOP COMPLIMENTING IT
Daidus is a tsundere
@@saiarvindarun7856 tsundaidus
Emily's grape: belongs in a fruit basket
Daidus' grape: belongs in the infinity gauntlet
I honestly love how Daidus and Emily possess different styles; both are so pleasing to the eye.
Hi I’m a professional marker artist 3 years in the making and here are some tips!
- Don’t worry about dry time (while copics do have dry time it is really fast and doesn’t affect the blending that much.
- Work light to dark
- Push and pull (the alcohol will move the colors around, lighten or darken, or layer) more alcohol will push, less will pull.
- Using exact colors isn’t a big deal because you can layer and blend to make new colors.
- Paper is your most important supply (my favorite is Render marker paper by crescent)
- The codes on the markers are important (letters is what basic color the marker is, first number is value, second number is saturation, the lighter the color the more alcohol is in it, the darker the color the more pigment is in it.
- Have fun and trust the process!
the more wet the paper is the easier it is to get gradients also colored pencil can be blended in with marker really nicely
The light to dark is a great general rule of thumb, but I have found that doing the inverse and going dark to light can result in some really interesting lighting effects.
And Ohuhu markers are great alternatives for Copic markers.
Thank you!
Remind me every time you see this

Copic user here! It really helps to swatch your colours while you’re working on your drawing. For example if you’re looking for a shading colour (like Emily’s grape), swatch your options on the base colour on a separate paper so you can see how it looks without committing to putting it directly on the artwork. Hope this helps!
I take oil painting classes and EVERYONE starts with an apple. After that you can paint whatever you want, but the first one is always an apple.
There's a woman in my class (a literal descendant of van Gogh's sister) who painted a really good looking one.
Mine looked more like Daidus' grape.
Tip: Don't have much experience with copics, but I did recently hear that keeping them upright will have them dry out sooner. So you should put them horizontally.
i resonated with daidus so hard accidentally drawing semi realistic when i actually wanted a stylized outcome.... art school is hard to unlearn 🚶
"skill" issue
Bro Daidus' grape looks awesome, it feels like he wishes his artstyle was diffrent but it's genuinly so pleasing to look at!
Emily and Daidus drawing and talking about stuff is like therapy

Congrats on 200k subscribers! 🎉
I really liked Daidus' fruits! One of the things that stood out to me was that Emily's line art stood out more in the final product which may be part of why it looks more "cartoonish" and Daidus' looked more realistic? Either way, both versions looked fantastic!
Daidus' strawberry is so good
Mascot video comes out next week!!! (Sorry for the confusion, we thought we were launching with 5 vids but we launched with 3 instead so the mascot ep isnt out yet!!)
It's alright, no worries 👍
Oh okay, I was confused because I couldn't find it. I was lost for a sec LOL! Thanks for the clarafication! :)
Question for both :What is the country you you want to visit next the most?
Uh excuse me, but I'm an animation student from India and was hoping to get some advice about studying animation in Japan and living in Japan...
@@Meowyeon as a fellow indian my full wishes for you to succeed in your journey!
Emily's art is just always so cute, and she managed to draw the cutest grape ever. With Daidus motivating her to add red in it, it looked so much better! He did so good to make her being a bit more adventurous. Daidus' grape looked so good as well. I'm just obsessed with Emily's style.
This channel is quickly becoming one of my favorites on TH-cam, to be honest. It's very inspiring and the dynamic between Emily and Daidus is always a treat to watch!
Daidas has a very painterly way of coloring/drawing. Thats definitely from art school. Also the fact that he always draws things bigger than necessary is another thing art school tends to influence. Even in high level art classes at regular colleges all of these things get drilled into you. This isn’t always the case, but is partially the reason for the differences in style.
Not sure if you got it from Moriah Elizabeth, but the word "painterly" reminded me of her overusage and dislike of the word. 😂
@@niko5432 nah, its just a way some artists describe the style. “Messy”, layers of colors as if its a modern painting (Fauvism to Post-Modernism)
agreed. I usually prefer Emily's art but in this video, I prefer Daidus's
I love how daidus encouraged Emily to go out of her comfort zone cause it really made the grape pop and look juicier
7:28 the markers are just wobbling and its so cute ❤❤
Daidus has a great eye! I think that makes him overly-critical of his own art, but he gives great advice like adding more color to Emily’s grape and adding shading to the back of the hair in the shiki board video. I love how much Emily trusts in his advice in order to implement it too! She really takes things in stride and its really nice to be able to see how to take constructive criticism in someone I admire so much :3
"It's called green apple, honey." "it's called Granny Smith ". 😂🤣
Daidus' "errors" look more like happy little accidents. That grape illustration looks phenomenal
What was school like art wise? Were you guys a teacher's favourite, an outcast, have the classic “oh my teacher saw I drew anime and put me and it in the trash and burned it.” experience, did AP (or whatever art higher tier classes there are in the US)?
Emily, is there a particular musical or show you wish you could’ve done while doing the school shows? And Daidus have you acted?
As well as this, I wanted to say, Emily, I’ve loved you for years, your artstyle has influenced me so much and for that I’m forever grateful. Daidus, you’re cool too.
cant wait til you two get into oil painting and find out the self combustion properties of linseed oil coated rags
daidus drawings always look like there was a watercoloury dreamy filter on them and i loveee it
BIGGEST TIP FOR ALCOHOL MARKERS IS TO UNDERSTAND HOW THEY WORK:
the alcohol in the market “lifts” any pigment that is already on the paper and then places the new pigment from the marker down. that’s why copics layer so well AND why they blend so well. it’s a mixture of lifting and placing pigment.
the colorless blender works in a similar way only because the marker is purely alcohol it only lifts the pigment off the paper. similar to an eraser
oooohhh this is so helpful, thanks!
This is super helpful!!
daidus calling out art classes always starting with an apple sent me back to the beginning of my graphic design class because we too started with an apple…. he’s so right…
I like how Em’s food is more cartoon-ish and Daidus’ is more realistic and colorful. Both of yours look gorgeous! Love you guys!
What I learned from my art supply sales days was that the codes are used to help you find colors that go together. The letter is obviously the general hue (R for red, etc.) The first number is the family within that hue and the second number is the value or saturation. A lot of Copic artists recommend that for best blending to use colors within a few numbers for the second number to avoid weird splotchiness.
What I learned from my art supply sales day was that you could save a lot of money on those open copic marker stands. Just buy one and whenever it dried out replace it with the store one. Saved a lot of money and no one notice especially if you go buy something small along like an eraser
It’s actually very healing to watch incredibly talented artists struggle with something new. Makes it feel more approachable.
Seeing you guys try and learn new things was really fun, and it inspired me to finally try out new embroidering teciques. sometimes it's nice to remember that everyone, even the people you look up to, are often beginners in somethng
Thank you guys for starting this channel it’s so comforting and funny to watch
Crazy how you have to trust the process; Daidus's grape didn't look good at first but in the end it all came together and it ended up looking really awesome!! Great first attempt you two
I love how everytime Daidus wants to make it cartoony clean, but keeps drawing it full on picasso, waxed realistic stuff naturally
and emily's one always look so beautifully anime-ish
All 6 looks really good tho and contrary to what daidus is saying, they all look edible and im hangry now >:/
I REAAAALY want to see a side by side comparing each others sketchbooks!!! Also a video of you guys both showing your favorite pieces of art you’ve ever done🎨🎨🎨💕💕💕
I really enjoyed this so much! I would love to see you guys make more videos of both of you learning the art of copic markers 🩷🤭
this channel makes me (perhaps unreasonably) FERAL levels of happy??? like. i feel like a lot of arttube rn is fully finished 20min long animated commentary videos and artists with 20+ years of experience flexing their knowledge and wisdom (all good btw!), but it's so refreshing to watch two artists just. learn a new medium!!! on camera!!! they're experienced but not in this artform so they're starting from square one just like everyone else and i just!!!!!!!! i'm ballistic 💞
THIS!!! HELL YES!!!
LITERALLLYYYY i've been watching both of them for so long and seeing them push their boundaries makes me want to come out of my comfort zone a little too! i've been terrified of water colours but you know what? im taking this as a sign and jumping in!!
Same!! I found myself getting super inspired to do creative projects and practice new techniques
Having more Daidus content is a blessing
Ikr waiting a whole year for dadius to arrive was worth it
And more emirichu too is a blessing!!
YAY!!! Another video!!! I love this channel! I'm excited to see more of your guy's lovely art, shading, and coloring skills. Watching you guys draw is like ASMR for me and inspires me to go back into traditionally drawing 🥹💖
I've been watching yall for a while, and just stumbled upon this channel. Copic markers are hard to work with, you guys both did a great job!
Daidus: "oh my god I ruined it"
Also daidus: *makes an absolute masterpiece*
Side note, I really liked both of the grapes!! emily's was a more clean cut graphic style and like she said daidus' was more watercolor esque :3
Markers are actually so hard to Master since u can't erase your mistakes and if u put more pressure in your hand, depending on the paper type, it will look like a black hole was there Regardless of the marker color and brand.
That's why I preferred to use a pencil to Delimit and see where the marker line goes.
At the end, makers are like a high risk high rewards material to use, either it looks good or is not convincing enough (it also depends on the project)
I really love to see both of your guys different approaches and art styles to these situations!!
i rlly love this channel like not only is it hilariously entertaining but drawing along with emily and daidus is fun and almost theraputic lol < 3 < 3
Normally when you go back to "fix" your mistakes you end up ruining everything (or at least that's how it is 4 me) but the grape actually got better the more he added 😅
I appreciate how you both challenge each other out of your comfort zones. Art is so much more rewarding when we can overcome our boundaries and I feel like you both are helping one another with this.
This was such a pretty and interesting medium to watch you guys try! Love seeing the process of two experienced digital artist learning a different medium
So much passion and energy radiate from you guys. It's pure pleasure to watch how you create and talk about things what clearly brings joy to you, thanks a lot for sharing it with us:)
I'd love to see a redraw from your college or early years! This has become my new ASMR drawing listening content!
As architect student that uses alcohol markers religiously, using an old paint brush or q-tips dip in Rubbing alcohol is a great way to blend or lighten area of your drawings. It create a much more seamless look! copic actually make a colorless blending pen that work in the same way. You can create really cool textured using rubbing alcohol, just be careful not drench your paper
It’s so awesome to see how each of you do your traditional work! I’ve found that sometimes returning to traditional work makes me more excited to do my digital projects, have you ever thought about working with pen and ink itself? The actual dip a pen nib into the ink and draw with that, I tried it during an art class in college and really enjoyed it!
I love these videos! much appreciation to this channel and wishing you guys this channel keeps growing!
the nervousness is very adorable and relatable. I like how they both critique each other without taking anything to heart as well so its not always compliments.
As a high school art teacher, Daidus' comments of 'why doesnt mine look like that?!', 'im just gonna yolo it my way', and 'i dont have the patience for this' resonate with me on an atomic level.
Can confirm, the Apple is universal and eternal😂
This is literally the channel mode made for you both, i love it so much. Thank you for putting in the time to make this happen, can't wait for what is next!
You guys inspired me with this channel to get back into traditional art and take a break from digital :) for the Q n A, what are some of your guys’ biggest art inspirations! (Like fav artists/ mangaka ect) 🫶🏻
i understand daidus struggle with wanting to draw and write neater. ever since i was a kid that "neat" style of drawing and writing has been more difficult for me when it seemed to come naturally to others! but i think we just have to embrace our free flowin lines haha
I actually love Daidus's drawings, they feel much more realistic! I feel like I could bite into them
I love seeing the different art styles, your different techniques
Thank you so much for showing what you guys are doing. As someone slowly getting into art myself this is so interesting and awesome to learn from! Thank you guys!! Also for the QNA what are you guys looking forward to learning art wise on or off this channel!
The way that I see is that daidus is using copics like watercolor by using diff colors and layer them. That's why it's much more realistic. While Emily doesn't use color just uses pressures and layering and honestly both works but there could be a balance. Daidus sometimes less is more and focus on shape language and use your strokes like how the object is going so it doesn't become streake. And yes paper counts so much too tbh. And for emily you can layer the same color 3 times and for the fourt just use something completly different so it just gives more blue or red or dark too it it won't ruin it cus once it dries it's just going to be darker usually so it's not like digital where if you put the red on the green it becomes green or brown it's just going to be darker. And I think creating shades and swatching them before can help out a ton I mean practice does make perfect. I use everykind of stuff on my art from coal to water color to markers and I also do digital.
I love how differently they approach practice! Emirichu’s careful and precise approach and Daidus’ experimental and adventurous approach, it makes it especially fun to see what they’re different processes give life to 🥰
Thank you so very much for posting this! I started learning how to draw a year ago, and while I've made a lot of progress with the more water-based products I've been using, I've been on the fence about trying at least an off-brand of alcohol marker to learn further with or staying with watercolors and watercolor pencils. Every time I've tried markers of some sort in the last year, I feel like I get a streaky mess on the paper that just gets work the more I try to fix it. I never had a background in visual art so my only experiences with markers in my life prior were in school with those water based Rose Art ones that always dried out too quickly. Between your video and reading a lot of the top comments here, I feel like I have a lot better idea of where to work from now on them, especially as I've been looking for something just like this to learn from! This gives me enough information and renewed confidence to keep trying with them!
its exam season for me right now and ive been quite stressed, but watching this new channel always fills me with a sense of calm!! keep up the great work both of you :)
11:43 man, daidus one looks like wut u did using art class watercolour (lookin good tho)
While emily one looks like manga-ish weekly cover art (good good)
The apple and strawberry also had their respective style
Daidus casually dropping life threatening facts and then it skipping to lighthearted music just feels so funny to me

this was so much fun to see both daidus' and emily's learning styles come out! i just think it was so weirdly comforting to see how they both took different approaches, and their results were different, but neither was really better than the other! excited to see the traditional art journey continue!!
Hi, I would like to say that not only is your channel content relaxing, it's also very inspiring. I can always feel the sudden urge to continue my drawings and make me love creating art. In case I can also add a question to your Q&A, do you have any tips to give fellow artists? you two legit made me wanna draw again, i haven't drawn anything for myself in a very long time because i draw in work all the time, so i appreciate for re-lighting the spark for me.
Love seeing new people try copic markers. For inspiration/guidance on how to use copics as an live example I recommend watching a few videos of the TH-camr Studio AP art, I’ve learned a lot from watching him in regards to copics.
You guys are my favorite channel feels so comforting to watch not weird but feels nice when I watch you guys this video and draw with you guys on my free time 😅
the fact that the focus point is like 5-10 cm off the table is kinda funny cuz they pop out so much better when they move the paper around
In conclusion, Daidus is a painter and Emily is a illustrator.
this is so late, but as a qna question for both of you: what is your prep or creative process before making the art for a video? do you do the scripting first, or draw sketches first, etc? love both of your channels, been watching you guys for years now. I was waiting for my 11th grade final exam results when i watched childhood crushes. now I'm almost done with uni.
From the exposure I had to copic in college (mostly used prismacolors tho cause they were cheaper so take this as a grain of salt), making swatches is SO USEFUL! Helps you see what a color will look like when other colors are mixed in. And it matters if you wait for the ink to dry or not as well. Just have fun with swatching! 😊 great job!!

I really enjoy the format to this channel, and find the efforts inspiring. Keep up the good work ^^
Both of your fruits look realistic guys.
Difference is I'd eat Emily's fruits, whilst I'd drink Daidus's.
This is so accurate! Daidus has some water elements so they’d be juicy and Emily’s would be like Saturday morning cartoon crunch 🥰 I love their styles!
