I felt that beef bowl dilemma when I visited Japan. Nearly everything I ate was delicious, and more expensive meals typically felt totally worth the money, but I could never shake the feeling of the 350 yen Matsuya beef bowl and how delicious and filling it was relative to the cost. If I could get such a thing so conveniently for so cheap back in the USA, I'd be there daily. To this day, 10 years later, it has completely warped my perception of just how cheap quality food can be.
I’m still gonna go crazy with themed cafes and merch of my favourite animes when I visit, but I’m gonna keep the tasty cheap food in mind! (This may actually help me a lot to remember since I have low iron and need to eat more meat, and like $5 for a huge bowl of meat, knowing I’ll be shoving my face with sweets the whole time? That’s pretty convenient for me)

I would like to start with thanking Emirichu for her sacrifice - We just came back from a family trip to Japan and stopped by Pompompurin Cafe Harajuku, wasn't disappointed (well maybe except for the merch section although it might be just the stuff we wanted was sold out). I'm surprised though you haven't tried (or haven't got to report yet) Sanrio Cafe Ikebukuro Sunshine City. I'll avoid spoilers and just let the results speak for itself - we went there 3 times over our 10 day trip. Yes, THREE TIMES (although fair warning we mostly went for the ice cream and takeout items - the merch section is also small). If you haven't tried that one yet I would definitely like to see your take on it :p
I think reviewing these collab cafe’s is a good idea to do cause a lot of anime fans love these sort of things and also help people who want to travel to japan to experience these cafes saving money. We will forever be grateful of your wallets sacrifice 🙏🏻
