The fact that this is out of print in the US is a damned crime.
I just graduated to a bluyray... My husband says i wasted my money but i thank differely the picture is so much better and sound
I went and got some blue ray movies from walmart on black Friday.....blue ray was alot easyer to hook up all i needed was HDMI cord...i got a cord from walmart on black Friday it had built in led light so pretty
And not only that the blu ray often comes with the digital copy and the price often drops when the price often stays the same on digital I’ve seen blu ray cheaper than the digital purchase anyway
Blu Ray means. No clocking. No pixelated image. No Censorship. And you can watch as many times as you want. So it's not a waste.

It isn't even that rare or hard to find of a blu ray it is out of print however and has been for some time I recently picked a used copy up for $4 at a pawn shop and they had two more they also had a copy of dead alive which I grabbed

I got the ultimate edition of Dawn of the Dead on DVD with the 3 cuts of the film for about $20 at Circuit City when they were still in business years ago
People are unloading it because Second Sight is releasing a definitive edition this year. I sold mine a while ago.

I have this blu ray signed by George Romero actually. It was so cool meeting him such an inspiration. Nice video man. 🤘🏻

For anyone excited by this, you should definitely heck out the Zombi: Dawn of The Dead 4K Italian release. Looks incredible, has a bunch of bonus content.
One of my best finds was at a record store, 1995’s “KIDS” on dvd for $8
I've owned that movie on VHS back in the 90's, and currently have the DVD since 2002, bought at Walmart 17 years ago!
That was a great and disturbing film. It seemed too real.

I never thought of checking out thrift or goodwill stores. I'm usually in bookstores and a spot called vintage stock. I'm definitely checking those places out

A few of my most favorite thrift store/goodwill pick-ups...
- The 1999 "New Line Platinum Series" Nightmare On Elm Street DVD collection, from way back when I was in high school. A friend of mine took me to the store and surprised me by pointing it out, and it became one of the first DVD boxsets I owned. Even though I've upgraded to the Blu-Rays, I still keep this set for sentimental reasons.
- Argo: Declassified Extended Edition, 2-disc Blu-Ray with the physical extras (64-page photobook, replica ID badge, 355mm x 508mm mini-poster, 355mm X 508mm map with notes on scenes from the film) still packed in. $10, acquired in late October 2019.
- German Steelbook Blu-Ray edition of The Last Stand (with English audio included). $11, just a few weeks before Christmas 2019.
- Iron Man Armored Adventures: Season 1 Blu-Ray collection, still in the shrink wrap when I found it. $8, November 2016.
- Kimba The White Lion: Complete DVD Collection (Australian edition, from Madman Entertainment). Found in January 2019. Out of print for almost 15 years (as of this post), and I snagged it for $40. The box has its share of little nicks and scrapes, but the discs themselves are in exceptional, practically brand new condition.
I picked up the same Dawn of the Dead Blu-Ray at an FYE five years ago, brand new, for $6.99 That was a steal!
I hunt DVD BluRay 3D BluRay and 4K UltraHD BluRay since I’m adhering to my unbreakable pledge to continue collecting movies until the end of time
My rarest find would be DOGMA for $15. I was in shock and it truly made my day.

I got lucky and got this at a local store for cheap. On top of that, I found the Twilight Zone movie Blu-ray for cheap along with it. Some other rarities I found in the wild was Near Dark on Blu-ray and the Twilight Time Christine to name a few

The Second Sight version of Dawn of the Dead is coming soon. But great find though. Id sell it now at high price before the big release comes out

Great find Jeff, my best find in a second hand shop over here in Ireland was Prometheus 3 disc collectors edition Blu ray with 3d version for €3!!!
Nice haul and nice find man. I believe that Dawn of the Dead is one of the first Blu rays to be produced.
One week I found a bunch of 20th Century Fox anchor bay blu rays of License To Drive(1988), Dutch(1991), Jumpin Jack Flash(1986), The Star Chamber(1983) , Airheads(1994), Lucas(1986) which are all OOP going for big bucks....Felt lucky so i went out the next day and to my surprise i found Dogma(1998), Apocolypto and this 1990s western called Bad Girls(1993) which is going for over 100bucks on eBay....Something in me made me want to go out one more time that week and then found The Phantom(1995) and Jade(1995) and Ernest Scared Stupid(1991) ....The absolute best week I have ever had hunting and I don't think I could ever top that haul....That is why I love hunting, you just never know what you will find

I found Dead Alive a year ago at Vintage Stock/Movie Trading Company here in Tulsa for $5.
I been looking for this on Blu Ray as well pre owned on ebay starts around $55 theres a green case Blu Ray I seen it on ebay for like $500 a couple of times I dont know what the difference is

Great find!! I wish I could go out and find movies but I can't get out much these days due to my handicap but occasionally I get out and sometimes I find some great deals especially Pawn shops in my area don't take movies anymore so they sell cheap and I did find some movies at my dollar tree so I was happy but I hate not being able to go find things.
I haven't had a lucky movie find like that, but I also check thrift stores for vinyl records, and I had two VERY lucky finds: one time I found a copy of Led Zeppelin II in a random bin of records they were just selling for 50 cents each, and another time I found copies of A Kind of Magic by Queen (my favorite band!) and Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, both for just $1 each. All of those would normally sell for MUCH more than that and they were in pretty good shape too, so it was a steal! Almost all the records in Goodwill/thrift stores are the same junk over and over, but every once in a while you get lucky with a good find like that and it is so satisfying when that happens lol!

I have Dogma on Bluray. 2 copies. 1 still in wrapper. Bought at a price thats only a couple dollars over price it released at.
My most prized Blu Ray is The Cable Guy (1996). Got it for 8$
Yesterday is a rip off of a British TV show called Good Night Sweetheart which you can find on you tube. I always hunt in charity shops and second hand gaming shops. Lots of deals to be had now the streaming wars on.
Not really rare (at least not yet), but one of my holy grails was realized when Code Red released Spasms on blu-ray. Up until then, as far as I'm aware, the only official copies were vhs.
I had no idea that was out of print. I found it used almost 10 years ago and have kept it in my collection since then. Glad you found such a good deal on it. My area seems to be the exact opposite of yours, Goodwill barely ever has any DVD or Blu-ray's but Salvation Army does have a shelf full (mostly DVD as most around here still only buy for that format).
My best find to this day has to be The Third Man Criterion Blu. I traded in a ton of DVDs I had upgraded and basically got it for free.

I actually found Dead Alive on vhs at goodwill. I was happy with that find.
I collect all kinds of formats, vhs, laserdisc, ced, beta, hddvd, dvd, bluray, 4k. If I can find a killer deal, I'm all over it. If it looks junky and fubar I won't mess with it though.
I got this movie on VHS still, in its box & everything; this, and Day Of The Dead.. which is my favorite out the series.
Just don’t have a VCR anymore to even appreciate it, which is sad..

Nice find! I was able to get my Blu-ray copy of dawn of the dead in a random lot I found on eBay. Only paid like 40 bucks for the whole lot. Also included Utraviolet, Hart's War and a couple others. It was a steal!
My find of the century for me.. Was finding the complete blu ray collection boxset of Indiana Jones for $3.50 at goodwill

The Anchor Bay Dawn of the Dead is a great buy. Recommend also picking up the DVD Ultimate Edition for the European Edition and other extras. The disc might have been hidden by someone btw thinking they would come back for.
I found that Dawn of the Dead bluray this year as well for $14 at Sam Goody this year. It was easily also my best find of the year.
Found "Alien Covenant" steelbook at a pawn shop for $4. At Amazon it's going for 60-70 bones!
Excellent find. I got the same one at a pawn shop for two dollars also. Also got "My Science Project" blu ray at the same time also for two dollars... all I would have had to get was "Dead Alive" and I would have had the trifecta!
The overseas dawn of the dead does have Romero’s cut but it’s region b. I have the black box ultimate collection dvd set that has all the cuts and extras. You inspired me to look it up and I see it’s going for over $200! Wow
I didn’t know this was rare! I own this exactly copy as well. My rare finds in my collection is The Evil Dead, Dogma, and my rarest find I believe is my out of print copy of Hellraiser : Deader!!!
Wow. I remember buying DotD for $7 years ago as a "nice to have" film, since I wasn't a big fan. I think I might just put it up for sale now lol
Rarest finds recently would be the vengeance trilogy on Blu Ray, criterion versions of seventh seal and Harakiri as they were never released in Australia

The hardest movie for me to find on either blu ray or DVD is Judgement Day (1988) that had Peter Mark Richman starring in it as a priest.
I found ALONE IN THE DARK (Jack Palance, Martin Landau, Donald Pleasence) at a 1/2 price books for $3. The find of the decade!
Uh they got that at Walmart in the $3 bin all day long.
M Goode sorry Sherlock, but you are talking about the awful unwatchable Uwe Boll movie with Christian Slater. ALONE IN THE DARK directed by Jack Sholder is a 1982 film and one of the best horror films of all time, but no one has seen it. Limited release. You would be lucky to find it for under $75 on amazon or eBay. Sounds like you’ve got a lot to learn about film, because your comment is based on pure ignorance.

I just subbed you your vid was great. I got 2 different versions of the 1978 dawn of dead the single DVD version I got that years ago at a Hollywood video when they were around and I didn't exactly hunt but I bid on it over on eBay so it's sort of a hunt and won it I got the 4 disc DVD set of the film I was so happy to get it. I had the most absolutely treat to have met George A Romero at monster mania in Cherry Hill New Jersey a couple of years before he died and he signed my single DVD release of dawn of the dead witch I'll never get rid of I took a pic of him sign in for authenticity. I'm subbed to coolduder and Cinemasickness as well I feel the same way you about them their pretty cool dudes and love both of their channels. Great vid dude can't wait to see what you find next
Great find. I own 3 - 2 are still sealed. That Anchor Bay transfer is questionable though. The ESG French box set is worth picking up that came out earlier this year. But the Second Sight box set is definitely coming out. Update coming in the next few weeks following the colour grade completion and encode.

probably the best find ive found so far was at my local dollar general has a section of dvds and blu rays, every so often ill pick something up from there. well the other day i picked up San Andreas and The Great Gatsby for $8 for both. San Andreas had the 3 d blu ray, blu ray and dvd for $4, and gatsby was blu ray and dvd. San Andreas was easily worth the total $8 AlONE.

Jeff, I found this same Dawn of the dead artisan blu ray complete like new in a pawn shop for 75 cents. Also picked up land of the dead blu ray 75 cents. Parasite 4k fir a dollar. That was a good day.

I found mine for $4 at Pawn America a couple years back. Not really too rare anymore, second sight films is releasing a new uhd of it in late spring 2020

Congrats. When I lived in Dallas, I’d usually find OOP Blu-rays and DVDs at Movie Trading Company and Half Price Books, two regional TX chains (I believe they are in a few other states as well). I’d regularly find decent stuff but one big score was three $5 used Blu-ray copies of Last Exit to Brooklyn (look it up, starring Jennifer Jason Leigh, 1989) . At the time, it was going for $40-60 on eBay (not sure how much nowadays) so I sold two and kept one. I also found a Criterion Blu-rays of The Man Who Fell to Earth for $20 (goes for $100+) and Last Year at Marinbad for $20 (goes for $150+). Those are just ones I can remember.
I found that Dawn of the Dead Blu-ray for $15 (not a steal but still worth it) while visiting over a year ago.
I buy these titles as a film fan and not to flip; however, if it’s something I know is valuable and find extra copies, then I’ll buy/sell them.
It’s obviously a widespread addiction (buying VHS/DVDs/Blu-rays).
Dawn of the Dead is my favorite horror movie. Have had it on VHS, laser, DVD and now I have the same bluray in my collection but I'm counting on Second Sight. Martin is supposed to be released by them too.
I bought that Dawn Of The Dead way back in Oct 2007 along with Halloween(78) on Blu-Ray at Best Buy and I've never watched it yet. I might have to do that soon.

I stop at every Goodwill and Pawn shop I pass. I love the hunt too. I went in a Cash America pawn and found a Dragon Dynasty copy of the Shaw Brothers "5 Deadly Venoms". It's rare on blu and I've seen it for $75 - $80 on Amazon and about the same price on Ebay. Yesasia has the Japanese version on blu ray for $30. I paid $2 for it. THAT'S IT! $2.00! I got a collectors edition copy of "Lord of Illusions" for $3 from a Goodwill. You got one hell of a find! Congratulations... J
