All AUTHENTIC Pit Vipers have a code on one of the ear bands as well as text of where they are made As of 2020 Pit Viper updated the earpieces on the Originals (now called Single Wides) as well as the Double Wides - they now have the rubber coating for extra comfort and a hole for a strap to wrap around your head for security!

Some counterfeiters are adding a code to the earpieces! Make sure you are aware of all the other differences between real and fakes so you don't get SCAMMED!
As of 2020 Pit Viper updated the *standard earpieces* on the Originals (now called Single Wides) and Double Wides - they now have the *rubber coating* for extra comfort and a *hole* to add a strap for security!
Also, as of 2021 Pit Viper has updated the glasses which now have a *PV logo* on both sides of the outer arm. The design of the plastic boxes is different as well - now displaying the model name in big colored text.

I have like 6 pair of real Pit Vipers and I do work with them daily in landscaping. They are tough glasses, but will scratch easily just like anything else so always store them in their “limp cloth”. Also I was cleaning my Leonardo’s with water and a regular towel and it caused the film on the outside of the lens to start coming off in chunks. They sent me a new pair thankfully, but said to only clean with a microfiber towel and that water can sometimes cause issues with the lens. So, word to the wise.
As a skid steer operator I can 11/10 confirm that the now $30 fakes on Amazon are about as durable as toilet paper. Go big or go back to your grandads Oakley's.

tbh the sunglasses themselves are pretty comparable
THEY ARE VERY SIMILAR, BUT THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENCES TO NOTE.
The earpieces and nose piece is much higher quality and rubber around the ears, and the adjustments on the sides are both easier to adjust and stay in place better. The lenses themselves are a bit higher quality and have less distortions. But if you are truly just going for looks most people won't know the difference especially at a distance.

Oh yes, the fakes are very poor quality. The teeth for the Turbo adjustment will become marred very quickly if played with and therefore will be very loose.
The real ones are much better quality and hold up significantly well.

Nope, these are actually both the Double Wide size. The plastic boxes are the same size and both pairs of glasses are the same size.
The Originals are significantly smaller and the box is smaller as well.
I think the people who make the fake ones used the same text from The Originals, but used the dimensions from the Double Wides (box and glasses).

Another thing to note is that all the recently restocked Originals and Double Wides will now include Co-Injected ear pieces which will have a TPR Rubber on them (Similar to the 2000's ear pieces). This change is higher quality and it feels better on your ears!

Kinda weird - I just bought some from an authorised retailer in Australia and the box is exactly like the fake ones in this video, but the actual sunnies are exactly like the real ones in the video, even with the mold injection ear piece updates mentioned in the comments on the 2020+ models... There are also fake ones out there that have the extending sides - they aren't polarized but claim to have Z87 safety rating. I believe these ones are the same size as "The Originals".

I’d never heard of these sunglasses before today, 2/1/22. My son just chose these “fakes” on Amazon. I wanted to see some real ratings. I wouldn’t buy fake ones because I sell real glasses/frames at an optical store for 20 yrs. It’s also hard to paid so much when I know the cost is $3. But I won’t support crooks!
Not gonna lie, bought a pair of knock off ones not knowing and granted they did not last long but the lens alone were worth the price. Lasted bout a year till the side adjustments gave out. Superglued them then bout a week later I sat on them. But still worth the 60 not gonna lie.

Most of the non-polarized Pit Vipers have the lens extending out the sides. (All polarized ones do not have the extending sides) The lens is significantly thinner on the polarized ones.
What's the lens quality like when comparing the real and fake ones? The fakes are probably made out of some cheaper material.
The lens quality on the ones I compared seemed about the same. The thickness is the same and both sqeak a little when you flex the frame.
They are both made in China, so it's hard to say if there are any differences in material.

Bought fake ones since I didn't feel like shelling out 80-100 bucks. I usually drop or scratch nice glasses and the fakes I don't really have to care about. Might buy legit ones now tho since the quality seems so much better.

The real ones are much better quality and hold up significantly well. Plus if you buy directly from Pit Viper, you will be able to get them replaced for free if they break. Also keep in mind that as of 2020 the real ones have the upgraded rubber earpieces which feel a lot better!

The ones on all Amazon's like Amazon.com and Amazon.ca are all fakes. You can also tell by the seller and how cheap they are being sold for as well. Like the old saying goes if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
