    My first one failed around 60,000, and now I'm doing my second water pump at 127,000. Like clockwork! Thanks for the refresher. Your video saved me a ton of pain the first time! Looking forward to doing it all again...LOL!

      I'm about to do one of these for a friend. I pointed out to her that my 2010 Toyota RAV4 has the original everything and 350k miles on it. Only brakes, belts, filters, fluid changes and batteries. I'm definitely getting another Toyota again.

      @@Steven-gv1ke MIne is for prevention of an issue in the middle of nowhere 350K miles you likely don't drive it coast to coast whenever you want.

    2011 Acadia, 78K miles. Leak at water pump seal. I removed the right tire, wheel shroud, serp belt, water pump pulley. Then I removed the water pump and let the coolant drain into a pan. Then I was going to try and wiggle the pump out the top your way. Then I decided to try the bottom and walla It came out like butter. Just a little wiggle. I spray glued a little contact cement on the gasket and let it dry a few minutes then installed the pump, new belt, coolant. Took me about 3 hours total with clean up and road test. perfect job. Total cost in parts was 149. Beats 500 at a shop!

      I didn't need to drain, lost most of the coolant when the pump failed. Lucky me.

    Thank you first off really wish I would’ve seen your video first… I’ve been at this for 7 hrs and have way more disassemble than necessary oh well I know now. Hopefully first and last time since our 2013 Enclave only has 95k finger crossed. Thanks

    This job is tough don't let anybody tell you they could do the whole job in an hour and a half. I don't believe it for a moment. No way!

    Mine failed at 113k. Lousey engineering though with that placement.

    I've done several of these, and there's more to installation than what's shown. The drive belt must be loosened and reinstalled, and if any gasket material is left on mounting surface it can leak

    I just pulled the headlight out and jacked up the engine just a little bit without removing the engine mounts. It appears that you can just remove the harmonic balancer and it may come off even easier.

      Did the thermostat today in a parking lot an hour from home, just to limp it 6 miles to now have to do the pump in a grocery store lot after dark. Along with all the emissions and electrical issues...this bastard is getting traded off in the morning. Money pits with never ending issues and even the simplest of jobs turn into a royal pain in the ass.

    Are folks replacing the pump mounting bolts? They are torque to yield so just wondering.

    • @tjohanson
      @tjohanson  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unlikely, being that the replacement doesn't come with them. Also the torque used to mount wasn't very high either so reusing the old should be fine.

    At what mileage did yours fail? Mine quit yesterday @ 43k miles, had it towed to dealer. My bro had an 09 acadia, his quit @ 70k miles, both were covered under warranty though. Seems this things are delicate

    Any power or starting problems after replacing your pumps? Someone manage to unplug more than a pump. I have no headlights nor do I hear the car turn over. One guy said he forgot to plug in a ground wire

    • @tjohanson
      @tjohanson  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      paula x no need to unplug anything electrical, the water pump isn't electrical.
